Looks like JD is here to stay but he does know hes got to get results as i get the feeling Hilts wont take too much shit if things go wrong.
I would like to know a bit more about DH plan moving forward but suppose all will be revealed over the next season or so.The ‘plan’ should be pinned to the website so that all the loyal long suffering supporters know the route map.

Topics: 59First of all I will make it perfectly clear that I am not a Scunthorpe United supporter, although I am a football supporter and have a keen interest in the wider issue of mis-management in football and the reasons behind the demise of some clubs. Sadly the club that I support has suffered from gross incompetence, mis-management and I suspect, probably worse.
I listened to the recent interview with David Hilton and a few things raised questions.
1) To buy any football club you need deep pockets, Hilton acknowledges the point in his interview. Most people with substantial wealth, the sort required to own and finance a football club have a business background, a clear path of how their wealth has been accrued. Given that Hilton is 45 years of age, I would expect some trading history of at least 10-15 years and for the companies under his control to have a balance sheet with a positive net asset value of at least 7-figures.
2) Hilton’s previous name (David White). Again, Hilton acknowledges his previous name but fails to explain the reasons for it other than it was personal. From my experience, most people change their names for two reasons, they don’t want to be found (in Hilton’s case we can probably rule this out given his involvement at Ilkeston and at your club) or they don’t want to be associated with their past.
3) Hilton, in the closing part of the interview states that if there is any evidence about him to bring it to him so it can be discussed. For me, this was a peculiar thing to say.
4) Companies House, Google, thegazette.co.uk, social media and Credit Reference Agencies are usually a good starting point for any supporter wanting to conduct some basic due diligence on those involved with their club or those who are looking to get involved.
5) If you are unfortunate to hold a senior position at a club, say Director or Co. Secretary you can usually submit a background request with a Police Force and related agencies with varying degrees of success without too much trouble.
6) A simple Google search of David White and Andy Nally (name of current Chairman at Ilkeston) throws up an interesting thread (https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/08456806308) dating back to 2011. There are 23 pages of this but they are worth persevering with.
7) Judging by Hilton’s comments, there is clearly an element of mistrust that exists between part of your fanbase and him. He would be better addressing those concerns by explaining the reasons for his name change, his business background and how he has accrued sufficient wealth to purchase and finance the day-to-day running of a loss making football club because it is far from obvious in my opinion). If he fails to do so, the concerns of the silent majority will grow to being the suspicions of the majority.
Keep your eyes peeled and I will wish you the very best of luck.
“In the Queen’s Birthday Honours List of 2005, David Jason (real name David White) was knighted for services to acting and comedy.”
You plonker Rodney.

A handsome number of clubs have gone in to administration or / and gone bust over the years.Could be but why not tell us what club and what happened in detail after going into such detail about our new owner. People can believe what they like it’s a free country but he comes over more like iron insider then Innocent Bystander, just saying.

April 10, 2023 at 11:25 am #259631I hope he has second thoughts and just walks away we’re better off with Swanny.
April 10, 2023 at 11:50 am #259633I do fear after looking at his and ‘Patricks’ back story (allegedly) things might not end well.
Its time for you all to mobilise and make sure Elliott and Sharp are still there as a back up if things go south in May .
Lets hope Mr Hilton is true to his word and its not required .
Lincolnshire football needs Scunthorpe Utd ,hell us cods even need you and I cant help have a little soft spot for all our local teams even if i do enjoy it when they are doing badly.

April 10, 2023 at 2:18 pm #259645Interested Bystander: good points raised. In all honesty, most of us are conveniently avoiding these questions as we all know it’s probably not going to make for a nice read. A shame we don’t have a strong local newspaper to follow up these leads anymore.
I’ve spoken with Ilkeston fans and their reviews are nothing but positive, in terms of evidence, that’s all we can really form an opinion on at the moment.
I may be wrong ( and I hope I am wrong), but I’ve got a feeling in my gut that things might go tits up when the ground completion is due.
Very few local journalists have the appetite for it, those that do risk being banned by clubs or ridiculed by those unable to acknowledge the bigger picture.

April 10, 2023 at 2:24 pm #259651Similar happenings on here and other social media platforms IB. I’m more concerned about the content of your initial post and the posts in the whocallsme link than which football team you may or may not support.

Don’t think we need to mobilise to do that Rich. They’re still very much around from what I can tell. Simon was at the Gateshead match.

April 10, 2023 at 2:51 pm #259656Going back to Hilton’s proposal of moving the footballing operation to Ilkeston, just what was he thinking?
Football clubs, players and officials have an important role to play in the community. Good clubs, with good community structures interact with their fanbase away from the club because commercially it makes sense to do so. How did Hilton intend on building relationships and the fanbase from Ilkeston?
I’m undecided whether this boiled down to commercial naivety and a lack of awareness on Hilton’s part or a sign of what is to follow.
Did I also hear Hilton say that he’s hardly at Glanford Park during the week? I would expect a new owner of a struggling club who is committed to its survival to be visible and leading from the front.

April 10, 2023 at 3:04 pm #259657Interested Bystander – The alarm bell is already ringing for me and with some others but it seems the majority are relieved the club seems to be saved and don’t want to look too deep and are happy to accept what he says. Time will tell.
The majority of a club’s fanbase just want a team to support, only a minority are interested in what goes off behind the scenes and the backgrounds of those who are involved. As I see it, the questions about Hilton are not going to go away, it’s in his interests and one assumes in the best interests of Scunthorpe United if he answers those questions.

April 13, 2023 at 6:56 pm #259914Well at least he admitted to using another name, white, but did he use 2 other names too, mellors and Anderson? I wonder why someone would need to do this? Don’t seem right to me, maybe another question to ask him.
In regards to Anderson, I’ve been working on that today. I’ll have more to report later.

A few of you have mentioned the name “David Anderson”, here are my findings to date:
1) Hilton’s date of birth is 09/10/1977.
2) I have found a David Anderson with the same date of birth, who held at least two, possibly three directorships.
3) The beauty of some of the old filings at Companies House is that they are handwritten.
6) I will let you form your own opinions on the handwriting on both forms.
7) If you search the official Gazette for Guardian Property Corporation Ltd, it produces the following result (https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/L-60707-1953344).
“A Petition to wind up the above-named Company of 37th Floor, 1 Canada Square Canary Wharf, London, England, E14 5AA, presented on 12 November 2013 by THE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR BUSINESS INNOVATION AND SKILLS, c/o Howes Percival LLP, 19 Spring Gardens, Manchester M2 1FB in the public interest”.
This is highly unusual to sat the least. From my experience, petitions served by the Secretary of State For Business Innovation and Skills in the Public Interest are as rare as hen’s teeth.
I will try and pull in a few favours to establish the reasons behind the original petition to the Court.
April 13, 2023 at 10:29 pm #259928WTF was that all about?

April 14, 2023 at 4:20 am #259938I thought DH had said that the training in Ilkeston would be temporary.
April 14, 2023 at 9:29 am #259945From Interested Bystander to Inspector Clueso … YCMTSU
To misquote Darth Vader ” the bullshit is strong with this one “.
April 14, 2023 at 9:53 am #259948Like it or not I-A, it clearly isn’t having seen both AP01s. Saying nothing more, nothing less. Make your own minds up. It’s not a conspiracy theory either before you go down that road. Is it helpful? Open to debate. That’s all people want. All this demonising and put downs of longstanding supporters (can’t vouch for Innocent Bystander) with legit concerns isn’t helpful
April 14, 2023 at 10:00 am #259950I think the most sensible and reasoned post on the other thread yesterday was from Siderite (no surprise there). Sums up the current situation best IMO. What I will say is, things had settled down over the last few days and certain posts are creating more division. But, it’s a forum, people are here to express opinions.
April 14, 2023 at 12:47 pm #259958Okay so I read this on the companies house website, having searched Coolsilk…
(Fair review of the business
The directors continue to work on the disposal of the Scunthorpe United asset to the new owner with a deadline of 24 May 2023 for completion.)I do hope that this is what will happen, and that PDS doesn’t reneg on it.

April 14, 2023 at 1:02 pm #259959Yes in terms of importance the up n coming King Charles Coronation is second only to the 24th of May GP deadline day … will Harry turn up who cares , will DH with the wonga we all care ??

April 14, 2023 at 1:12 pm #259961Taking him on his word till that time. If it’s not an issue, then I’m sure we can look forward to the club being taken forward with plans and actions that benefit the long term future of SUFC, but that don’t worry a large section of wary supporters, in the meantime.
