Have to agree with him regarding the youth setup we haven’t brought anyone decent through for years and if efl funding for it has gone it does make some sense. Shame for all the kids in the current system though.

I’ll have a second listen later.
A lot of content there to digest and assess.
The “noisey ones”… the higher you go the more criticism you’ll receive.
Yes, I think he must live in a monochromatic world.
    He’s backing Jimbob McClueless.
Academy to close this season. Looking to pick up Cat 1 releases and to then send them out on loan to even lower non league clubs to play men’s football.
Released by Everton, signed by NLN SUFC, then shipped out on loan to… Yaxley.
Yeah, like that’s going to happen.
A Swann like message about how he’ll leave the club better than he inherited it.
Competing at a bear minimum of L1 / L2 – so a Swannesque type “Operation Championship”.
New training facilities… eventually in Scunthorpe.
    Ground improvements.
    Etc.
    Déjà vu

    He kept mentioning options.
    Correct, there are options.
He probably needs to be more considered in his approach to our proud club – as he may find that many opt out of his plan.
I’ll visit it again and make a few notes as it does go on somewhat.
I’m sure we are all very interested to see other supporters thoughts / reaction to his interview.

If the steelworks closed, what hope would there be for the town?

Did I get this right that only 30% of the wage bill goes on players’ salaries?
Redundancies in the pipeline – fancy him spotting that we are no longer a Championship club. Swann never spotted that!

The one difference between Hilton and Swann is the former actually followed through with his promises at his previous club, while the latter fluffed at Gainsborough and was full of excuses.

This is not to say we shouldn’t be sceptical of Hilton, and I have put forth my own concerns, but we can’t write him off just yet.

Non playing wage bill is higher than the players wage bill.
Which ain’t a surprise as the squad is made up of youngsters, loanees, crocs, & lower non league journeymen.
I wonder how much the ‘restaurant’ lost each month – I’d seriously like to know the answer to that one.

Crikey league champ or league 1 is impossible now for clubs like Scunthorpe ,Grimsby and lincoln unless you are going to throw tons of money at it my aspirations are top end league 2 with the odd season in league 1 now .But thats because the games gone mad

It’s not happening, Rene. JD gets a fresh notepad to write on. Okay. I’ll accept that but with a few reservations.
DH seems to be approaching the future without an ego trip. Loadsa tough and painful decisions to be made. I don’t envy him.
Promise – no loans – only donations. Promise – the max will go into the player budget.
Promise – in my words – to run a tight ship.
His Ilkeston history encourages me that he keeps his promises.
Food at GP to be sorted – the biggest promise of the lot?
(We all know one brilliant businessman who couldn’t deliver that one!)

Players were told about moving training to Ilkeston when? This or last week did he say? Don’t suppose that’s effected their attitude on the pitch has it?? Then you’ve got Dean bringing up a toxic culture at the club as a reason for their poor recent performances. ‘Oh, by the way, training’s moving to Ilkeston, now go out there and give 110%!’. What planet?

I thought Hilton said he’d be finding some of them digs? Even if they are from that area, do you not think this substantial change in working practice will have created some uncertainty / instability? Personally I do, and I’d be very surprised if it’s not effected motivation which has transferred to the pitch.

The new club owner of barely three months must be heartily relieved he isn’t being written off just yet. FFS 🙄

I’ve to take a second hearing and to comprehend the full implications of its content.

    What if?
At a future date the ground was sold on to say Winterton Rangers and the team formerly known as Scunthorpe United played at Ilkeston as Ilkeston Ironopolis?

    Or

It’s sold to a commercial enterprise who set up the popular 5/6 a side Astro pitches and rent them out Monday to Sunday 8am to 11pm?

    Or

It’s sold to the council who develop it as a velodrome?

    Or

It’s a multi use stadium for Rugby Union / Scunthorpe Women’s Football / Scunthorpe Alphas?

    Or

    Etc.

What is so preposterous about my statement when people like Rene seem determined to write him off and have done since day one?

listened to the whole interview and i was fine with all DH comments until he got to the manager and backing JD, obviously he must of had gummy bears in his lug holes and wearing those special rose tinted glasses not seeing the glaring selection and lacking tactical awareness issues most of us see as clear as a wart on yer helmet.

Im sure i heard him say he was relieved this season was nearly over .. correct ?

DH is worth backing , seems he has a plan which include JD n Co so lets unify and see where they can take SUFC next season.

My angst is with Jimbob McClueless.

At the end of the day, the owner can burn his money however he likes.
He may come good and return us to “competing at very least in L1 / L2 [his words]”

    Or

GP becomes a stadia for other sports / events and we make like the Wombles, who became the Dons of MK.
    Ilkeston Irons
    Ilkeston Ironopolis
    #weweresufc

    #weweresufc 3-1 Leeds Utd *

    * Happy days if’t were the case.

    Question.
Why didn’t he just throw more money at developing Ilkeston and ascend the pyramid with them?

    Ilkeston population = 40,000
    Scunthorpe population = 84,000

There are a number of interpretations regarding many points and a number of ways of looking at it. One might be it being the thin end of the wedge.

Still not happy with the season tickets- supporters should be able to commit to a season ticket using a card in 2023. The other option means paying an extra tenner each game for step 2 non league football which will put many off.

Understand the reason for moving the training facility as it stands- however, developing a facility within Scunthorpe should be a priority.

Always knew the academy was going, it’s a shame but it hasn’t produced anything of note for a long time now and will turn into money pit once the EFL funding goes.

Never nice hearing staff will be losing their jobs, but again, the reality of the situation is we are soon to be competing in a league with Buxton and Farsley; we have to become sustainable and that’s going to upset a few along the way.

Not sure how the signing of cat 1 academy will work. Are we permanently signing them and then loaning them out for development ?

Can’t believe the playing staff budget is 30% of turnover, no wonder we are witnessing the dross we are.

The training field has to go to sell it for development.
Academies at lower league clubs were never about finding & developing players.
They were run for the EFL FUNDING.
Don’t let people pull the wool over your eyes.
Even when we were a strong L1 club, the Academy would not have existed without the EFL FUNDING!

I’m guessing Jimbob McClueless lives in or near Peterborough?

Peterborough to Scunthorpe – 95 miles and 2 hours 5 minutes.

Peterborough to Ilkeston – 65 miles and 1 hour 30 minutes.

Saves about 30 miles and 30 minutes.
    Time & petrol are money.

That’s assuming he lives at Peterborough. Perhaps he lives at Ilkeston?
