New owner already talking about a new ground, initially developing part of GP land with commercial units, signing seemingly higher quality players while losing money.”it’s his money “will be the cry no doubt.Heard that one before
I’ve seen it all before, recently!
The big problem here is, our new guy hasn’t seemingly got any thing like the last guy’s wealth to sustain it, so how long do will it last?June 8, 2023 at 8:28 am #264047Zzzzzzzz.
June 8, 2023 at 8:32 am #264049How long is a piece pf string? Difficult to know when we don’t know where the money is coming from.
June 8, 2023 at 8:42 am #264051Yes but we did know where Swanns came from and that went sour to say the least
June 8, 2023 at 8:51 am #264055I’d like to know where the money’s coming from but no doubt I’d be called ungrateful if I asked.

Well hopefully he’s not a gambling addict, then at least he has a better chance then the previous owner of hanging on to it.

It’s a valid question. Indeed, where are Hilton’s pees coming from?
The rhetoric is that his pockets are that deep he’s put £3M into Ilkeston and he’s already put £1.7M into Scunny which is likely to increase to £2.5M by the start of the new campaign. I’m struggling to reconcile this with Ilkeston’s accounts as well as the funding of his own business where long term debt (mostly secured loans provided by third party funders) totals £2.48M against total assets of £2.03M resulting in a £450K deficit on their balance sheet and that was before the lenders came knocking so what state the balance sheet is in now is anyone’s guess. Finally, his home which he purchased for £495K on 18/06/21, there’s a registered charge on the property dated 18/06/21 in favour of National Westminster Bank Plc.
A bit of old and new information there just to keep the locals happy!

June 8, 2023 at 7:52 pm #264116Posted on another Forum. Again, this may or may not be all true.
Bury had already been expelled with huge, unpayable debts and had a functioning phoenix club trying to kick start itself during the covid season of 20/21, when DH came sniffing around.
From memory he made claims very vocally on social media that he had pretty much secured a deal to buy the club and that there was money in place to pay off debts, and that there was a place secured in the NLN. Even if the first part was true, the second part was dubious at best. He immediately started snapping and sneering at fans asking questions, calling one fan, a Bury based Blade who follows Bury as his second team, an elderly gentlemen who puts a lot of time into mental health charities amongst other things, an effin ‘prick.’ The question had been a simple one, ‘where is your money coming from.’
He immediately said there would be no fan involvement and made sneering comments about Bury AFC.
Despite adamant claims of his wealth and business success there was absolutely no evidence of any successful business ventures or multi millions in the bank, his companies house files threw up next to nothing aside from dormant companies, one of which being based at Ilkeston FC, a weird place to base your really successful property company. It was all very Stewart Day and Steve Dale esque.
One of his best tirades saw him call Bury fans cancers and saying it was not a surprise the club ended up where it did, and claiming it was little wonder that previous owners, (ie Day and Dale), had failed with the club with fans like ours. This was pretty standard during a two week period where he constantly came online barking out tripe like this, at the same time, cosying up to the anti Bury AFC faction of our fanbase. A couple of whom were known racist bigots and bullies who’d been stirring up crap for the previous 12 months or so.
There were stories of threats and abuse being handed out to the people who run our message board and members of the AFC setup. Unsurprisingly, the deal didn’t come off and Hilton ended his little crusade as he’d started, with accusations, lies and abuse. One such line was to oddly blame the man who runs our MB. Dean Hamer who does this voluntarily, and in his own time, and he was someone who had kept a very low profile throughout the entire farce. Dean responded on Twitter by telling Hilton to produce evidence to back up his claims as he (Dean) had consulted legal advice and told Hilton he was about to take legal action.
Low and behold, Hilton deleted the tweets and then his twitter page then vanished for a couple of years.
There were other ridiculous claims as well – I could fill this page with the amount of nonsense this creep spouted. I am just thankful he vanished without a trace only to emerge a couple of years later at Scunthorpe. I do not know the ins and outs of what has gone on at Ilkeston, but from the bits I have gathered it hardly seems like he’s created a genuinely, prosperous empire. There seems to be a number of unanswered questions there as well – but with a small fanbase and a club with, (all due respect), limited standing in the football pyramid, people won’t ask questions.
What baffles me more is the FA or whoever runs the F&P tests at National League level allowed this bloke to takeover. His promises have already not been delivered on, and he spouts out decent sound bites to explain why things have or haven’t happened, then snaps and gets aggressive when pressed on the matter. It is all very Stewart Day/Steve Dale esque but, speaking from experience, I don’t blame Scunny fans for hanging on to his every word, that was Bury fans throughout the Day era (2013 until December 2018) and again when Dale turned up.
One of his best claims is that he bought Scunthorpe United to make his family proud of him, even though he’s already achieved a lot in the world of business.
I just hope Hilton is exposed and ousted and that Scunny fans can rescue their club before it is too late.

I’ve been genning up on some of the more recent slang to grip society. Today took me to Hucknall and Kirkby In Ashfield of all places. Financial haircuts, repossessions and a bankrupt were all on the agenda.
June 8, 2023 at 8:16 pm #264119You never know Hilton may actually do what he say’s he’s going to do. Why not give him a chance and see if that’s the case instead of all the suspicion and all these accusations all of the time ?

June 9, 2023 at 6:26 am #264128Christ on a bike!!! The last couple of seasons you have all been on here whinging that we have left it too late to bring in new players and we will be left with the dregs that nobody else wants, this time we get the business done early with what appear to be quality signings for this level (time will tell of course) and you moan about that…..who would be a football club owner eh? damned if you do and damned if you don’t!
June 9, 2023 at 6:32 am #264130Who’s moaning about the timing? I’m not. I’m sorry you missed the pint, deliberately?

June 9, 2023 at 8:45 am #264149Players look good. House is on fire. How much they been promised? Where’s the money coming from? How is it sustainable?

Great signings so far , be nice to know the detail on the newbies contracts re salary any win bonuses etc … funds must be in place to pay them ..surely.
WIN BONUS .. theres a blast from the past !!
June 9, 2023 at 9:12 am #264155Must be good money to attract them? All well amd good but my concern is that say we’re around the top of the NLN, unless we know how this is being funded and is sustainable, there will always be the prospect of the rug being pulled. Is it so wrong to to understand the source of the funding and a sustainable business model and plan? Find it a bit blasé to ignore this.

June 9, 2023 at 10:55 am #264170I noticed that all the new signings (including Law) have been photographed waving the scarf INSIDE GP!
How did they get in? Will they be charged with trespassing? Or was it a cardboard cut out, like in “The Truman Show”?

Because the club is important to us and if he gets it wrong then it may be too late to reverse the damage. See also: the previous owner’s regime.
