A really good striker sitting on the bench every week when we are desperate for goals and wins.
Gob smacked!!
I guess the problem is he’s not the type to play up top alone but still.
Bet he wished he’d stayed at Gateshead, playing and scoring on a regular basis.
March 28, 2023 at 7:24 pm #258070But he hasn’t scored in any game has he, his time will come
March 28, 2023 at 9:05 pm #258076York commentators were baffled why he’s on the bench. Thought it must be a sign of how good the players in front of him are. Hmm…
March 28, 2023 at 9:47 pm #258083Two consecutive performances from Bennet which have been lacking in lustre.
March 28, 2023 at 9:49 pm #258084And Elliott has contributed what when he has been used as an impact sub ?
March 28, 2023 at 9:49 pm #258085Bennet blazes our only real chance over and Danny comes on and plays deep….
Jimmy Dean has got no idea what he’s doing!!!
We had a chance to stay up with a new chairman/owner but he massively messed up with the managerial appointment.
March 28, 2023 at 9:51 pm #258087SDH57 ….
He’s not being brought into play as an out and out striker is he????
His record in that position is excellent…. 6 in 8 for Gateshead but Jimmy wants him deep and wide… astonishing!!!!!!
March 28, 2023 at 10:11 pm #258097Dean should have taken Butterfield off and brought on Elliot and gone 4/4/2. I know he’s not done much since he’s been here but Elliot hit 6 in 8 for Gateshead and yet Dean only seems to play him out wide.
Too negative for me.
Give him till end of season and then bring Nelson back in. Let’s face it, we were playing better football under Nelson who had considerably less resources.
Struggling for goals and yet Elliot can’t seem to get a sniff. I thought our 4-1 win was the turning point but now suspect that was a one off.
I just don’t think Dean is good enough. Tactically he’s absolutely woeful and that won’t change.
Nelson was miles better. Not a fan of Dean at all. I hope Hilton swallows his pride and reinstates Nelson.

March 28, 2023 at 10:15 pm #258100I’ve probably seen Elliott play more than most on here as I usually take in a few Chester games each season.
A don’t think he’s as good as some posters are making out. Had a good season for Boston in NLN but has been patchy elsewhere.
Okay he scored 5 in 7 on loan at the Heed. A purple patch? Yes, but it was only seven games. We’ll never know if he could have maintained that over the course of a season.
Decent at this level? Perhaps. The prolific striker that will single-handedly save our season? No way! Especially the way Dean is setting up the team.
By all means start him against Torquay, but don’t expect miracles.
March 28, 2023 at 10:19 pm #258103I live near Boston and saw him play a lot, he’s quality!!
They’ll be clubs queuing up for him should he be available to move on!
Ridiculous fans are questioning him when he’s not getting game time as an actual number 9…. Unbelievable!!!
March 28, 2023 at 10:21 pm #258104I mean you can tart it up anyway you want or say its not his fault but Dean really isn’t up to the job. The uninspired county match, the settling for a draw with two away wins a must against teams around us. He really doesn’t know what he’s doing.

Purple patch or no purple patch, he still showed he can score regularly and we need goals and yet he’s bench warming. Surely he should be playing ?
Dean could have easily gone 4/4/2 tonight and brought him on to partner Bennett but no, typical Dean plays him deep on the right again. Fucking shambles.
March 28, 2023 at 10:22 pm #258106Play Elliot in the position he is most comfortable with – he may be off the pace to start with but look at Bennett…..

Dean won’t though, will he ?. Obsessed with this direct crap and likes to play with a target man. Appears he’s got one style of play and leaves the only striker we have on the bench who’s capable of scoring because of it.
Really needed the win today and should have gone for it. Perfect opportunity to go 4/4/2 and play Elliot up there but no, went negative again.
Again the opposition team changed shape to counteract what we did 1st half and as a result they had the better of the second half. Dean failed to alter tactically to regain the upper hand. This is becoming a recurring theme with Dean.

March 29, 2023 at 4:50 pm #258191There’s a reason he’s played most of his games in NLN.
Not saying he can’t do a job for us, but he’s no Sharp, Hooper or Madden!
March 29, 2023 at 7:27 pm #258203Bennett blaze’s our only real chance over, and there was me thinking we had 5 chances in the first half must have been at a different game SS sorry.
March 29, 2023 at 8:26 pm #258204Not saying he can’t do a job for us, but he’s no Sharp, Hooper or Madden!
Who even suspects he’s a Sharp, Hooper or Madden ?
March 29, 2023 at 10:17 pm #258214Precisely!
