I have to say well done Sunak for the handling of the NI protocol and the new deal sounds good for us in terms of trade and relations with who will be our biggest trading partner. It goes to show what serious negotiating does, instead of bluster and posturing and yapping about how this bravado is needed for showing the ‘nuclear option’. I accept that this is maybe a fireman putting out his own fire,I am not converting to Toryism, but I can only be fair in my analysis. I don’t want to appear tribalistic when I see a positive from a Tory.

I do wonder if the fanatical Brexiters will be happy, given many will probably see closer ties with the EU as a betrayal of their fantasies and against the ‘will of the people’. I can’t imagine the ERG being happy. They want to live in fantasy land where we hold all the cards with the EU, they need us more than we need them, and we can rely on trade with the Commonwealth or something.

It will all depend on the DUP, they have been absent from governing their country for a year now, enough is enough, get it sorted and get back into power sharing pronto, your country needs you.

Ian Paisley Junior has already said “it doesn’t cut the mustard”.

I doubt if he has even read it. Some are in it to object to everything as they know they will lose their influence by agreeing. The DUP have no intention of power sharing when Sinn Fein are the major party.

Example, their mock indignation at the EU leader meeting Charlie boy.

Compromise is alien to the fanatic. Yet they expect the other side to acquiesce to their demands, and they will make out it’s the others not compromising.

The DUP had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, to sign up to the Good Friday agreement, the only major party to oppose it. They then were a majority. Now that they are now a minority they are hanging on to its coattails.

In other words, the UK would be better off if in the single market. If it’s so exciting for NI, why couldn’t we have had a grown up debate about our place in such markets after the vote? Instead we got “people knew what they voted for, and being in the single market betrays that.” Now it’s an exciting opportunity for one part of the UK!

Steve Baker did and now look at him. The price of being a national hero, eh?

Was just about to post about THE UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY, but you are already on it.

Not only did the whole UK benefit from the unique opportunity, a Tory PM negotiated a set of opt out benefits that these Tory dimwits have thrown away.

Not quite what I said to Mrs Two when I heard him saying that.
