Holding my breath there isn’t a late equaliser! Let’s kick on from a win and get behind the manager.

Did well. More a question of being a bit jittery at the end rather than surrendering possession as we did at Barrow.
    Hippo’s best game. A clear 8.
    GK another 9.
    Millen an 8.
Hackney starting to get what he’s supposed to be doing – at last
Players coming back – a cause for a little optimism.
I had no problem with the manager today.

Same here les, Hippo my MOTM despite being subbed, fresh legs maybe as I thought Pugh and Hackney worked their socks off too. All good for 70 minutes then the last 20 minutes got a bit nervy, more tiredness and them upping their game then us being negative tactically IMO. Very enjoyable game for most of it and a deffo deserved win, nice one guys more of the same please, nice to see an Iron side working and grafting their nuts off for 90 minutes. 👏👏👏

Credit where it is due. A number of players had their best ever games for us. I agree with the views on Hippolyte. Have been a big critic of him in the past thinking he has been playing at being a league footballer. Today he played football and was actually quite good at it.

The midfield performance was comfortably the best of the season with Hackney having his best game by a mile and Pugh was great. Competitive right across the middle and out worked and outfought Crawley in there for an hour. Lost it a bit after the substitutions but that is more that Beeston and Bunn couldn’t match the excellence of the guys they replaced.

Millen and Thompson both also had their best games for me. Rest of the team played well and even Cox did nothing wrong.

Sspecial mention for Rory. 2 excellent games this week. We have finally got a competent goalkeeper.

Millen, Hippolyte, Hackney, Pugh and Scrimshaw were excellent, Rory Watson brilliant first half, enjoyed the first 70 minutes, but why oh why do we take two players off who were playing their best games for the club, I don’t like this 11 men in the box defending a lead for all that time and Neil Wilcox Cox sounded like he blamed the players, but nobody played badly but we need to keep getting points, I don’t think the players are that bad but tactics and formations leave a lot to be desired.

I wasn’t sure about the double substitution at the time but listening to Cox on the radio he mentioned Myles had a stiff back so that was why he came off.

A good overall performance though and Watson was brilliant. Good saves and coming for crosses a lot which is a vast improvement.

Hippolyte was pretty angry at being subbed as was Loft. Love to see that.

Forgot to say totally agree about Pugh.

Kenyon is going to have to show a lot more than he has shown so far to shift Pugh from that position.

    Enjoyed the performance today.

Solid first half after that shaky opening spell. Midfielders seemed more fluid and put together some good moves which deserved more. Agree with the above comments that hippo had his best game for us. In fact, it was the best I’ve seen the midfield look this year. Couldn’t really see if Loft got a touch for the goal but it was a good move nonetheless and a nice ball from Millen.

Opening 20 minutes reminded me of watching Scunthorpe teams of old under the first Lawsy era. Suddenly, we played to home advantage and made the Glanford park look tiny for the Crawley players who couldn’t catch their breath. Tenacious in the middle and battling for everything whilst actually playing intelligent through balls for Scrimshaw who took his opportunity well. Felt f**king good when he slotted that home.

Last 20 minutes were awful to watch and I, like the ground, was expecting the inevitable 2nd. Cox said at full time the players retreated deeper not under instruction and need to start believing in themselves. Firstly: Cox has to have leaders in the pitch to ensure this doesn’t happen or convey the message that we cannot hang on with over a quarter of the game to go; Secondly, he needs to start believing in his team which I don’t think he does fully.

Honourable mention for Onarisie and Watson whom were both outstanding.

Cox got nothing wrong today, were some of you at the game, he takes off our best two midfield players of the day and we surrender possession and encourage Crawley to attack us. Credit to the players for the win tho it showed it mattered to them. This manager is no help.

midfield was excellent today, nearly ruined by taking Hackney and Hippolyte off, have we found Miles’s best position.
Tom Pugh what a talent, must get it from his dad.

I said last week that Hippolyte, despite being quite a terrible lW and an average LWB is way more suited to CM. Barton thought I was mad when I commented on it a few weeks ago.

If you think back to when we got our last win and looked like we were turning a corner before Cox tore the team up, Hippolyte and Pugh was a big reason for that in midfield.

Superb today…certainly no winger but he strangely looks at home in CM. This is the last place I thought he’d thrive but to be fair to him he looks good in there.

Hackney is starting to bed in now “took him long enough”. Millen who has looked absolutely dreadful so far looks like he’s up to fitness now and put in a really good performance.

Pugh looks a pretty good defensive midfielder as well screening the back 4. Watson had another stormer.

Still think we need to send Wood back, get O’neil out the club on loan and see if we can sign another striker and a left sided player.

All in all though, relieved to get the 3 points and thought we looked pretty good today. Cox nearly self sabotaged though as Hippolyte was running CM with Hackney and taking those two off we lost control of midfield and conceded too much of the ball again towards the end.

    Happy though

Fifteen minutes to go and the players did well to hang on to the win. For goodness sake Cox stop this obsession with substitutions. He took off Miles and Hackney when we were in control and playing really well. Cox could have cost us again. Well done to our players today, they thoroughly deserved the win.

Fair enough take one of the two off but not both as they completely bossed it in there. I don’t get why it does it, got away with it today but the subs are making it more difficult than it needs to be.

Interesting how good so many 4th division teams can look when they are given a bit of space.
Tired legs, injuries, players have worked their socks off – subs will always be needed and need to be expected. Newey didn’t seem too bovvered.

When a side is losing – they will throw the kitchen sink at you. That is to be expected.
What happened at Barrow must NOT ever be expected again.

Pugh is turning into a real dynamo.

I’m not silly enough to put our terrible form this season down to 1 player – but surely it’s no coincidence that we weren’t even getting close to other teams whilst he wasn’t playing.

Constantly in the opposition’s face, closing them down, putting tackles in & will only get better with the ball at his feet. Can we give him a 4 year contract please?

Everyone else was at least a 7 today, Millen had his best game to date.

Sorry but not seeing this great Hippo performance – 2nd half he improved and did well first half he couldn’t make a decent pass and he was in some good positions. Once he took the ball in 20 yards of space made no attempt to turn and go forward just passed it back to Taft. Agree his best game but not outstanding. Leave that to Pugh tackling/break up play was superb and Onariase for daring to drive forward – looked like an overlapping centre half. Now they have the win repeat it at a poor Colchester.
    Cox still a liability.

I thought he was better than Pugh, albeit in a different role. I thought he ran the midfield with Hackney a more than able back up.

I would have given Hippolyte and 8.5. I thought he was really impressive.

Because we’ve capitulated sooooo often in the last quarter that teams now know that if they do up their game, we’re likely to concede?

    I’m here, soft lad.
I can see the positives, but I raise you the negatives:
WHY did Cox take off players having their best ever game?
WHY did we go defensive AGAIN?

I am sorry guys but I cannot comment on todays match, simply because I did not either see it or listen to it. Grimsby were on Radio Humberside 605, and Scunthorpe do not shoe i-follower for home games, but varid reports on this thread, with bad substitutions once again, and all dropping back into our penalty area. the players are not to blame for this as its the only thing that this so called manager knows, but a big well done to the players for holding out, although it could easily have cost us like many games, but Cox appeared to blame the players. But well done guys, and glad that Pugh and Rory had very good games, and all we want now is to get young Wilson in the squad and playing matches.

Great to see the win, but the sad side of things is that it most likely means that Cox remains in charge of the team for a few more weeks, although his job looks safe enough as Swamm really likes him, even with todays game being his second win in the past 27 matches, it takes some believing but it’s true. So another easyish match next week against Colchester, so go for it lads, and if Cox is again going to blame you players for dropping everyone back into defence, take your own action and play on attack and lets have three more points on the board.

Although a few fans are over the moon, todays game was against a poor team that has lost five of its last six matches, but well done and so nice to see the win.

The club should get Pugh and Wilson signed on three year contracts, and at the same time offload dead wood.
