I have been very loyal to Neil out of respect as a fellow Scunthonian. No more skirting around facts or we will exit the League.
Poor tactics.
Poor players.
5 men defences.
One striker.
No desire on the pitch.
No clue on the pitch.
No creativity.
No culpable efforts on goal.
Out fought.
Out thought.Loyalty bought you so much unfortunately it is only one way. What I have outlined is week in week out, this season and last. Not a knee jerk to today’s performance v Exeter (who were a joy to watch)
Sorry Neil you need to go along with the rest of the hapless coaching staff.

September 11, 2021 at 8:51 pm #213523I’d actually go as far to say the players aren’t too bad, they’re just being completely mismanaged .
Beestin and Pugh/Wood in CM isn’t bad at all. Perry is good enough, providing you play him in a role which actually suits his game. Upfront is questionable but even playing Scrimshaw with Jarvis would get a hell of a lot more out of him than we got today, he’s got enough about him to score at this level.
Bunn wide right isn’t terrible. Wilson is talented as we’ve seen more than a few glimpses from him to suggest he’s got something about him.
Green has started awful but showed last season he’s fairly decent. Hippolyte I’ve never been a fan of but started this season quite well.
Taft, Davis and Manny are fairly good CB’s. This 3 or 5 at the back, whichever way you look at it doesn’t really work. Started off pretty solid but it’s all gone to shit.
I’m not saying these are world beaters by any means but they’re good enough to finish lower mid table.
Put it this way, there is talent within the players at the club…it’s just they’re being completely hamstrung by a clueless management team.
That shambles today was one of the most baffling line ups I’ve ever had the displeasure of witnessing.
Not going to lie, I was speechless. Perry as a defensive midfielder tracking Jay despite being a ball playing midfielder ?
Beestin benched. Millen at RB didn’t even look fit, fair enough give him 20 minutes or something at the end but he looked absolutely knackered at around the 25 minute mark, he was understandably run ragged.
Rowe fish out of water at CB and Jarvis overlooked for a rust Harry Bunn and even further over looked when O’Neil came on and believe you me, I’ve mentioned Matt Bailey as the worst targetman I’ve seen in an iron shirt and what I’ve seen of O’Neil, if he doesn’t sort himself out he’ll be battling him for that spot.
As I said above, the players are a mile away from being a top unit in this league but they do have more talent than what they’re being allowed to show.

September 11, 2021 at 9:07 pm #213527It will cost money to bin Cox, and there lies the problem, the budgets gone so he’s as safe as houses.
If he did get thee push tho, Charlton are struggling so Nige might be out of a job soon, just saying (I doubt he would swap Hampshire for a move up here tho).

Vader surely Nigel has too much personal pride and dignity to come and work for the current shit show set up we have at GP? He will see the way so many decent football men have been treated here and think ” not for me thanks “.

Am not asking for a genius – just someone who can do the basics – and preferably, before the next match.2 users thanked author for this post.
September 25, 2021 at 5:30 pm #214186I don’t understand after going in at halftime why a team comes out for the second half and seems worse than the first half.Normally we all know that after the managers instructions they usually get better ????

September 25, 2021 at 5:40 pm #214191Wednesday would be a good day to get rid, though I do think it would be hard to put one Cox out. For god’s sake give the man a break he’s just lost his father.
September 25, 2021 at 6:31 pm #214202Cox is tactically not up to the job but removing him won’t change a thing. Even though our league status is at great risk ( and it would hurt Cox as a local lad to consign his home town club to non league) the issue is a chairman who appears to have given up.

There is that but with this bunch of players we will need a manager who’s experienced and has the know how to be able to rinse every single last bit of ability there is in this squad to keep us up and I’m sure Cox isn’t that man, he never will be either.
Cox simply isn’t up to it, we need somebody who’s a good man manager to try and get more out of what we have. I don’t think Cox is a good man manager and he’s an awful tactician.
I know he’s had a hard time of it and hope he’s alright but that still doesn’t change the fact that he’s a substandard, inexperienced manager.
Maybe harsh but it’s the truth. Lillis can go with him as well.

Utter rubbish awaywego, Christ man he was in charge all last season when we just avoided the bottom two places, he has been in charge all matches this season, about 12 games including cups., his latest record is ONE BLOODY WIN IN NINETEEN MATCHES, and the club still have so called supporters that say give Neil this, and give Neil that, whilst the man hasn’t got a bloody clue!!
It was stated on Humberside that Swann has not attended the last four matches, so with him driving the club into non-existance and out of the football league, it will suit Swann to have a no hoper running the club, and all the land down near the M181, will not be required by a football club that has gone out of business.
I like many other SUFC fans actually beleived all the bullshit that Swann gave us, yes for five years I fully backed him and his actions, it just shows how bloody stupid we have been.
But what can we actually do, we can protest, or we can stop going like many of us have done, but until Cox and his fellow brainstrust are bladdered, we will continue on our downward journey. My only suggestion at the moment is for all fans to stop attending home games, I never thought I would ever come out with this, but with the owner not giving a bloody toss and cannot be bothered to attend, why should we.

September 26, 2021 at 10:57 am #214226Whilst I understand what your saying B S my view would be for more people to attend and make their feelings known. It’s ok a few Youngsters chanting but The hierarchy won’t be bothered by it. There again if they have stopped attending protest’s would just fall on deaf ears. Having said all that I do believe the players do need our support it’s not their fault.
September 26, 2021 at 11:22 am #214228Cox’s stats since August 2020…
P-61 W-14 D-14 L-33
Win ratio of 22.95%
Not sure if that includes yesterday, which would lower it even more.
Not great is it?

September 26, 2021 at 11:34 am #214230It was a somber sarcastic joke BR, there cremating his father on Wednesday ( ” good day to get rid” “hard to put one Cox out” ) You are certainly one nasty bitter twisted piece of work,no one should be talking about Cox out this week, hang your head in shame man, the sooner you join Cox senior the better saddo.
September 26, 2021 at 12:52 pm #214233At the end of the day we can criticise whoever we want but the main problem is the players aren’t up to league two standards – end of
There we have it, the reality. We have ownership – disinterested, we have management – clueless and we have the players. Now this might seem harsh but of the 18 strong matchday squad who has proved, beyond reasonable doubt, (not necessarily in an Iron shirt) that they are L2 standard or above?
Taft, Perry & Beestin – that’s THREE!! 3 out of 18, little wonder we’re where we are is there?September 27, 2021 at 12:58 pm #214307‘the sooner you join Cox senior the better saddo.’
Lovely that awaywego. Is that your idea of banter or are you just trying to contribute to your bollocks theory that Iron fans are the worst in the UK?

September 27, 2021 at 2:27 pm #214318Few things I can’t understand –
Why was Beestin on the left wing?
After Jarvis was taken off and replaced by Hallam, why did we then get the ball out wide and put loads of crosses in?
@iron_stats tweeted something along the lines of we’ve not won the last 46 games after going 1-0 down. Yes, his hands are fairly tied but that for me is down to the manager, he doesn’t react or change things quick enough. Why can’t he be more positive or take more risks?
Perry sits in the middle of the pitch and goes no further, if we’re losing, get him off and bring an attacker on.
September 27, 2021 at 2:47 pm #214319Perry is there to pull the strings, sadly he’s discovered that most of them have snapped. (Or been cut maybe?) Also some, as in the case of Beestin, have been tied in the wrong place.
September 27, 2021 at 2:51 pm #214320Definitely not banter Deerey or a bollocks theory. If he can’t show any empathy, why show any for him?. Wanting Cox sacked is bad enough, but wanting him sacked while Cox is dealing with the death of his father is shameful, I’ll stand by my opinion thank you.

September 27, 2021 at 3:35 pm #214325What a nice fun loving guy you are awaywego. It’s one thing not being happy about someone’s stance, quite another wishing them dead.
September 27, 2021 at 3:43 pm #214331It would help the climate situation though, especially if they bury him.
September 27, 2021 at 4:02 pm #214334You were out of order and you know it! Regardless of what another poster said.
Edited for typos…
September 27, 2021 at 4:18 pm #214339Maybe you should try and be a bit more even handed Deerey, and not have tunnel vision. Wanting someone to lose his livelihood and not thinking or caring about Cox’s recent bereavement, is hardly in order is it.

That’s just the spin you’re putting on it. Look, we all feel for what he’s gone through with his father. I wish him no ill will, same as other people on this forum.
What people will not put up with though is a substandard, inexperienced clueless manager. Nobody wishes Cox any pain and suffering, he’s had a go and it’s been proven he’s not good enough.
Simply down to Cox being employed in a position that he isn’t fit to till, end of story. Stop with the angle you’re coming at this from because it’s completely wrong.
Wanting somebody to move on from a managers job which he isn’t fit enough to fill doesn’t mean we all want Cox to suffer unimaginable pain or torment, it’s just a vast amount have come to the conclusion that we either move him on or go down to a league we’ll never get back out of.
This isn’t me being dramatic here..seriously if we go down with the financial situation we’re in as a club with Swannster at the helm, this club will be well and truly sunk for good.
That’s the harsh reality.
No forgone conclusion if we get an experienced manager in that we’ll survive but at least it will increase our chances. That’s all people can hope for.
Cox is a top man and done great things as a player at this club and he’s given it a go here as manager but he’s fell way short.
I wish him all the best…..fantastic former player but crap, clueless manager. Not nice to type but I’m just being honest.
