Yes Heathy, tings have ceertainly looked up for the club and for us supporters, but although we are only 6 points off play off’s, other teams have games in hand, and we have a few difficult gamws coming up, but it good to see the lads having a real go. Yes Spence played well when he came on, but I did not really include any of the subs, but they played ok.

Disagree with you on the Taft mark, BS, but I think you’ve pretty much captured the rest. (Unlike you to be kinder on the ref than I would be, though.)

This was the first time we’ve seen a FB who has been too good for Green. I wondered if he was a bit ‘leggy’ after the last week coz his pace usually gets him away from defenders.

Just thinking back to our defending. It was just so good:-
    Players each doing their job.
Awareness of location of other defenders.
    Putting bodies on the line.
    Attacking every loose ball.
    Thinking quicker than attackers.
    Bodies in line for blocks.
    Intelligence showing through.
    Great anticipation.
Midfielders and forwards dropping back in support.

Really nice to see. Little wonder the clean sheets are piling up and Howard is starting to show some confidence.

Howard was excellent last night. He didn’t have much to do, but he did the simple things so well. Looks to be full of confidence.

Welch-Hayes looks a really good player. I said the same after the game at GP he was excellent then as well.

It’s also nice that I’ve gone from “we are desperate to get McGahey back” to “how does he get back in the team?”

Hopefully the 3 at the back is over for good. Tougher games coming up but stick at 442 and try to win them. See what happens because we all know what will happen if we try and play for draws.

I still think a fully fit McGahey will be Cox’s first choice.

Brilliant result but I have to make one comment meant to be constructive not negative.
We had 80 minutes against a GK making his league debut and he didn’t have to make a save.

You can’t argue with 3 wins in 7 days.
Well done to the players and management team, really well deserved!!

However while we looked difficult to break down and defended well I have to say both Tuesdays game and last nights were spent in our own half for far too long.
Staying up must be the priority and it’s a tricky league on difficult pitches so I understand it’s not always going to be pretty but long term I would like us to be more progressive and pen teams back into their half’s.

As for Colchester I thought they looked like a team lacking confidence big time!
If we could sign any of their players I’d take both full backs as they were brilliant!!

So pleased to see B.S’s. players’ marks again.

Cheers inspector, yes mate I think it is good to get the views of the different supporters, I was a bit sad that there was no support when doing them, but there are a few that liketo see the commenrs. Regarding the ref mate, I thought that he was a right homer, and gave Colchester everything he possibly could, and the bloody linesmen were just has bad, I was just pleased that he did not blow up for the two penalty box happenings, I know they were definately not penalties, but expected this bloody ref to give one, the way he had been performing. And you may be right regarding Tft, he is a player that gets on with things, and maybe a lot of his hard work goes a bit unnoticed, but the defence seems a lot more compact and strengthened when he is playing, I gave him a 6, probably a 7 would be better.

He made a right mess of that simple cross to collect from Loft. Wouldn’t have harmed having a few Long range efforts at him

I thought we were quite lucky with Greens penalty incident early in the 2nd half.
My first reaction was penalty and I was amazed he didn’t give it with the other stuff he’d been giving.

2 dangerous free kicks right at the end neither of which I thought were fouls and nothing wrong with McAtee’s challenge for Eisa’s “goal” although that one was the lino.

Don’t recall the 2nd penalty incident?

Probably because they were not penalties!

The ref gave a free kick outside the box every time a Colchester player fell over when tackled. There were a couple of tackles in the box, Manny and I think Green that the ref would have given a foul outside the box.

Playing as a defender is getting more difficult every season. Can’t tackle, can’t let the ball hit your arm.

We have defended so well in the last 3 matches, I can’t remember Howard having to make a difficult save in any of the games.

At least Grimsby did us proud.
