Pre match in here please
December 7, 2020 at 4:21 pm #198676Are you banned from watching it tomorrow night Matt?
Only joking.December 7, 2020 at 6:28 pm #198685Be nice to have the luxury of fielding the same team- I wouldn’t begrudge Cox if a couple were rested, it’s a busy month.
Also Van Veen featuring in the squad would be a bonus to get some minutes under his belt before facing the codheads
December 8, 2020 at 5:24 am #198717If not tired then same team 4-4-2 maybe swap out Clarke for Rowe and rest Eisa for Green. Hopefully KVV can get a few minutes into his legs.
Will be a tough game Colchester are a good side.
December 8, 2020 at 10:17 am #198723Fans in the ground? Will be weird to hear different “noises off” on the radio!
December 8, 2020 at 11:03 am #198725What planet you on ferrite, you drive me to “tiers”.
December 8, 2020 at 12:05 pm #198728When it comes to resting players we are no different to Colchester or any other team playing Saturday/Tuesday. It depends more on how many of the better plays are fit to start on both sides, sounds like VanVeen won’t be risked so it will be a case of the fit and freshest players giving it their all against a good Colchester side. Maybe they will have injury problems to some of their good players which would be a bonus for us. Pick your fittest freshest side Coxy and hopefully in a 4-4-2 if possible and give it a good go. What else can you do? UP THE IRON.
December 8, 2020 at 6:13 pm #198754Eisa, McAtee and Loft all on the bench. Hoping we can make this game in hand count, time for their replacements to make a statement!
December 8, 2020 at 6:35 pm #198763Will be interesting to see how Green plays.
Taylor & Jarvis looks weaker than Loft & McAttee. With five subs available Cox has plenty of options.
December 8, 2020 at 6:44 pm #198765Big night for Taylor, Green and Jarvis.
Disappointed to see Mcatee on the bench as he’s not started much this year, must have taken a knock surely ?
December 8, 2020 at 7:27 pm #198772Don’t rate Green hope he proves me wrong.
Piss poor defending
December 8, 2020 at 7:40 pm #1987741 shot on target, 1 goal.
We never make it easy for ourselves.
December 8, 2020 at 7:52 pm #198775Too many attacking changes in one go when we have just started scoring a few goals.
December 8, 2020 at 7:54 pm #198776Two chances to clear the ball for their goal…nobody left on the halfway line so it comes straight back. Why do managers continue to do this!?
December 8, 2020 at 8:04 pm #198778BUMP, back down to earth, normal service resumed.
Barn door syndrome again.December 8, 2020 at 8:06 pm #198779Gillead didn’t track the runner he just let him run past him
December 8, 2020 at 8:24 pm #198780performance as good as last week -just finishing quality missing.
Pity Essex radio mentioned no away wins this season and not won here since that 4-3 in 1995. Sure that broke a 20+ games without an away win for themDecember 8, 2020 at 8:54 pm #198781Eisa, McAtee and Loft all on the bench. Hoping we can make this game in hand count, time for their replacements to make a statement!
Statement made by replacements – “we aren’t good enough”.
December 8, 2020 at 8:57 pm #198782Deserved a draw and better.
Poor bench Jarvis and Green showed nothing bar from one shot from Green.
December 8, 2020 at 9:16 pm #198784Jarvis is garbage – really poor version of Loft – cannot hold play up link play up, gets out muscled and offered nothing up front. KVV or maybe McAtee on it would’ve been a different story. Soft goal to concede but entertaining game uo to about 60 minutes then we just fizzled out
December 8, 2020 at 9:19 pm #19878560% possession 18 shots 6 on target hit the woodwork twice how did we lose it? I think it would have been better resting players next weekend against Southend.Difficult to pick M -O – M
I thought Green and Jarvis offered little,Loft made a differenceDecember 8, 2020 at 9:21 pm #198786Good performance, think we still need that sharp hooper type of player to put the chances away,Colchester parked the bus and actually showed us great respect, was Lofts chance in? Played well wrong result, did the changes effect us? Yes I think so what’s the old adage never change a winning team…
December 8, 2020 at 9:34 pm #198791I think a few of us have alluded to this.
That our second string players are coming up short. I fully understand why Cox put Loft on the bench as he’d run his socks off against Harrogate and Orient. But to change both strikers? Maybe McAttee should have started in place of Taylor.
Any news on McGahey? Don’t want him out for any length of time.
December 9, 2020 at 4:26 am #198803It appears that the juggling act with players who are fit, part fit, not match fit etc was the main issue last night.
I do not see how Cox can be criticised when trying to use his resources effectively.
Last night was hardly a return to failed tactics as a personal choice by the manager.December 9, 2020 at 8:57 am #198805What les said.
December 9, 2020 at 9:15 am #198807Battered Col U last night and just didn’t take our chances. Reading this thread, you do wonder if Scunthorpe United fans actually want to be happy. So many pessimistic posts about what was largely a positive performance.
December 9, 2020 at 10:01 am #198809Unbelievable we didn’t win and win comfortably.
Robbed of a 1-1 draw which still would’ve flattered Colchester as Lofts header looked well over the line.
Would’ve liked to see Hallam rather than Taylor who offered nothing and Jarvis was a waste of space. Thought Green did ok although should’ve scored early on. Can’t complain at Cox rotating with the games coming so quickly but it didn’t work tonight. Jarvis is not capable of doing what Loft does unfortunately.
Hope McGahey isn’t too badly hurt though!December 9, 2020 at 11:20 am #198811Don’t like losing but losing after playing well is almost OK. Agree with much of the above, first XI is good enough but we are seriously lacking in backup in several areas which we need with the playing schedule forced on everybody.
December 9, 2020 at 11:24 am #198813Robbed of a 1-1 draw which still would’ve flattered Colchester as Lofts header looked well over the line.
Certainly looked more over the line than Onarise’s at Harrogate!
One minor concern: whenever O’Malley plays, whilst he is a great crosser of the ball, we do seem to concede goals where he gets caught out at the back post. Last night was a great case in point. I can remember a few others from earlier in the season (Lincoln away springs to mind, possibly Crawley too) where he’s not marked the player who scores.
December 9, 2020 at 12:23 pm #198817about the ball crossing the line, nobody really appealed about it crossing the line, it is so hard to judge.
regarding the goal, it was crossed from Clarke’s side and not O’Malley’s, so seeing it was scored in the middle of the goal it was more the central defence and not the full back not covering when it wasn’t the winger coming in from wing to score, it was a well taken goal. -
