Had a look in to see what they are saying about us.
Breath of fresh air: they disagree without insulting one another, and little nastiness amongst them.
Go take a look and learn how it’s done.January 22, 2022 at 6:19 pm #230229You should read it more often, like a pack of dogs most of the time, stop fooling yourself.

January 22, 2022 at 6:55 pm #230237Are you on a mission to try and get Matt to throw the towel in and close this forum down too Alcy? Another defeat, further in to relegation quagmire and this is your response? Another deliberately provocative post designed to wind people up? How is this helpful to anyone?

Topics: 11Was their defeat to Bromley today Fentys fault or their new owners?
January 22, 2022 at 7:21 pm #230242No really bothered about the cods. Ours was entirely due to our current owners
January 22, 2022 at 7:22 pm #230243They played well today by all accounts, although they are wanting Hurst out now

Topics: 11I can’t believe that. After getting new owners I thought they’d be storming the league.
At least they have some nice food to keep the ‘customers’ happy.
January 22, 2022 at 7:57 pm #230246They may have lost today but they are not losing every week and not scoring any goals.

At least they have some nice food to keep the ‘customers’ happy. If a club has new owners that back the manager with funds for signings and the results don’t come then the blame lies fairly and squarely with the manager and players. What’s your point?

5,800 at home to Bromley today. Owners Spending a lot of time/money investing in the foundations to build the club upon whilst actively engaging with the supporters.
It may not be this season but they will be back in the EFL within the next few years

You’re a bit behind, Cox isn’t the manager anymore. I’m sure you know how many of those were Swann snr/jnr signings, the only ones Cox admitted to were Hippo and KDT.

Isn’t silver spoon in charge of signing/identifying players? He shouldn’t be because he’s fucking atrocious at it! Daddy should put him in charge of the racehorses and not the donkeys he attracts!

January 22, 2022 at 9:44 pm #230258UTI – remember when Swann said Cox wanted Will Swann in and it was nothing to do with him, so as to deflect the clear nepotism. You may also remember Swann snr – on the radio – saying his son said these players are good enough to get us promotion. Even in your mind that doesn’t tally with Cox’s signings. They were Swann signings – maybe their agents will give a clue??

We’ve had good seasons, we’ve had shit seasons, deal with it instead of crying like a baby.
January 22, 2022 at 10:39 pm #230271Yep and it cost us our ground because of ridiculous debt accrued by the guy chasing his dream with little or no business acumen being applied. The ” hobby man “, Mr Wharton, got us two promotions to the Championship and a cup final at Wembley and when he left he left us with manageable debt and our ground still owned by the club. Your man is an abysmal failure UTI, he promised loads and delivered nothing but debt, despair amongst the fanbase and a club lacking identity with its fans. Oh and you are an idiot BTW.

Bit more to it than that UTI99 but I don’t think you should ‘piss off’ as WG says. In the spirit of us all wanting what’s best for the club can we stop the slanging matches? I know I’m as guilty as anyone else on here for doing that before anyone points the finger.
January 23, 2022 at 1:04 pm #2303205800 against Bromley and they are still running at a significant loss according to their owner, yes they are investing time and money in the foundations of the club it is called Debt same as any other club, but if they can’t break even with 6000 crowds their foundations are on more doggy ground than ours, as for Wharton he left us with a manageable debt of £4 million and was prepared to put us into liquidation if a buyer was not forthcoming.
January 23, 2022 at 1:46 pm #230330There’s a world of difference in running an operating loss and pumping money into the infrastructure for the long term future of a club. Eventually it will pay dividends, as seen at Lincoln.
It’s what Swann should have invested his millions in when he first arrived. Improve facilities; improve supporter engagement; improve the long term sustainability rather than trying to massage his ego by chasing a championship dream that no reasonable Scunthorpe supporter would expect.
After all his millions, bluster and bullshit we are left with an ageing, tired looking stadium; basic training facilities, attendances at a 30 year low; and probably the worst football team ever assembled in our 72 years as a league team.

January 23, 2022 at 2:12 pm #230331Didn’t Swanny do the same purchasing the training ground next to the stadium for the team how many teams have a location like ours now, for all of Stockwoods comment’s all Grimsby have done at the moment is improve facilities at their training ground which is 8 miles away from the ground, a new training ground announcement was imminent in October, still no news and the latest statament says we’re in no rush. What infrastructure have they put in place Cliff?.
January 23, 2022 at 2:55 pm #230336You’ve already answered the question:
Improving training facilities; plus the installation of a fanzone within the ground. Their biggest improvement- which ironically is free- is their supporter engagement, hence the 6k crowds. Not bad for a less than a year at the helm, and a significant more than we’ve done in 9 years and £12 million wasted.

January 23, 2022 at 4:25 pm #230341£12m wasted? That’s just the loan.
There’s also been the best part of £8m in additional share issues since Swann arrived, and the profit and loss account has gone from £111,938 in the 2012 accounts (the last before share issues started) to -£19,565,559 in 2020 (the most recent available).

January 24, 2022 at 12:50 am #230355The one thing our new owners don’t do, is make false promises. After years of neglect by Fenty the ground is in need of lot of TLC. They have improved the match day experience, including the food and drinks served in the ground. They want to bring the training ground into town, and open it up for public use, seven days a week. It is going to be a comunity center when it is finished.
What they won’t do is put us in hock to the tune of millions chasing the inpossible dream, unlike some club owners I could think of. That is why it will take time, the list is long, money is tight.
See you all next season, if you think the refs are bad in the 2nd div, wait untill you see the refs in this league!

I don’t expect us to be storming the league under any owner, Swann included. What I do expect from any owner is to be not lied to and at least one promise fulfilled, Oh! and a team with a bit of fight win, lose or draw!

January 24, 2022 at 1:32 pm #230395Generally in agreement, Pat. Not with the last sentence though…not on Saturday’s performance. Hill has instilled shedloads of fight into them. That’s why I didn’t enjoy the smattering of boos at the end (the cheers for Rory excepted) as one or two of the kids came towards the fans and pulled away crestfallen. Maybe the boos were for Swanny …but it was like the Alamo out there at times and yet they came within a missed penalty of a point despite there being virtually no quality on the pitch. I would say that fight was all we had really.
