I was looking at some other club’s merch over the weekend to buy a friend a present and I was struck by how much better many clubs do it compared with SUFC. I know we don’t have a huge supporter base, so I realise that it can’t be easy to offer a huge number of products and get them made but I get the impression from looking at our online shop that the standard of club merch still hasn’t improved much over the last however many years.

I also couldn’t see any SUFC facemasks being sold – I would have thought these would be a pretty good idea at the moment to raise a few quid for the club. I see a lot of other clubs selling facemasks with the club badge on, I’d have thought plenty of Iron fans would buy one even if it was just an excuse to give the club a few quid.

I guess the club only has a skeleton staff working at the moment with many people on furlough but it’s still a bit of a shame that the merchandise side of things still looks a bit stale. At least the new kits look like a big improvement, I wonder if that was one of Rodwell’s last acts with us?

After recent seasons SUFC blindfolds would be more appropriate!

I got an sufc facemask from here https://www.personalisedfootballgifts.co.uk/scunthorpe-united-face-masks
    They seem pretty well made!

Good stuff Porthleven, shame that the club isn’t taking advantage of what seems to be a gap in the market!

I wonder if those have been licensed by the club given they use the badge? Is the SUFC badge copyrighted or can anybody use it willy nilly?

At £11.99 for a facemask the Club could make a small fortune. I’d happiy buy one or two from the club, but not from some money grabbing website.

Also, Bishops Finger is correct, they should be licensed to use the logo. someone needs to follow this up as we could be owed a good few quid.

Hope they make one with a picture of the owners face on it.

“I’d happiy buy one or two from the club, but not from some money grabbing website”.

One way of looking at it. Or, like Ferrite says, if the club can’t see the potential in the product why shouldn’t some small business throw their hat into the ring?

If you snooze, you lose! How many others have produced SUFC related goods that the club has missed out on?

As I said in my first message, it might be difficult for the club to react quickly given the staffing situation but I get the general impression that these sort of opportunities have been passing us by for some time.

Shirts not available early enough, a tired-looking range of souvenirs in the shop. I’m hopeful though that the Macron gear will be an upgrade, not just the shirts but the other clothing.

Fans are always keen to hand over their hard-earned, just give them an excuse!

Lets be honest here, even before Corona when the season was in full swing it was very difficult to spend your money at the club even when you wanted to so the club cannot be that desperate for our money. Some on here call it whinging, I call it supporters wanting to be able to spend their money at the club but unable to do so.

I was going to look at the website but my laptop malwarebytes app blocked it saying there was a virus on their website, so I would advise you run antivirus security to check your computer, tablet or phone is OK.

What would people want to see in the club shop?

One thing I’ve noticed when going to games in Germany, even at smaller clubs, is the range of T=shirts, hoodies & jackets available in the club shop. All in a variety of designs, featuring the badge, famous moments in club history or famous things about their town or local culture. Much more interesting than just sewing or ironing a badge onto a generic polo top.

Apparently, Borussia Dortmund sells a toaster which toasts the club crest into the bread and plays the club anthem when the toast is ready. Now I would definitely be interested in a Scunny version of one of those!

I wonder if masks will be bought for Birthday or Christmas Presents.

So that’s “officially licensed partner” then. Not “money grabbing website”.

    Got you order in III?

The badge is copyright, we ( Winterton Iron) have been advised not to use it at all without permission. UTWI

I do not buy anything on-line. I trade in local shops because they employ local people. That local person could be someone you know.

It’s on its way NI. I do hope that the Club get a resonable chunk from the selling price – it is quite expensive.

I agree with this for the big online retailers but there are plenty of small businesses for whom an online presence is absolutely vital and will have been a complete God-send for many of them in the recent crisis.

Face masks now available to collect from SUFC shop, no delivery charge so £6 total cost. Pretty good value if we ever get to wear them at a match.

Safety should be the first port of call. Only FFP2 AND FFP3 MASKS WILL HELP AGAINST COVID. IF THESE MASKS ARE OF THIS TYPE THEN I AM IN FAVOUR OF ANY CLUB SELLING THEM WITH THERE LOGO ON.IF
NOT THEN THEY ARE NOT SAFE. THE DROPLETS OF THIS VIRUS ARE SO SMALL THAT IF YOU PUT 50 SIDE BY SIDE THEY EQUAL THE WIDTH OF A SINGLE HAIR. A MASK MUST HAVE SEVERAL LYRES OF PROTECTION.

That reminds me, if we get back into GP sometime next season it would be nice to hear a bit of Black Sabbath at half time.
