    Formed in 1883.

A couple of nefarious characters besmirched the club in 2011.

    From Wiki:

“In October 2011 a Chorley F.C. official was arrested and bailed on suspicion of stealing over £50,000 from the club.
As a result of this the club was forced to delay payment to players and launched a campaign to save the club with the help of local businesses.

In March 2013 Ian Daniels pleaded guilty at Preston Crown Court to charges relating to the theft from the club. His codefendant, former club accountant Philip Haslam, had already pleaded guilty a few weeks earlier. Both men received custodial sentences.”

Will we see a return of Chorley FM and a special live broadcast of the game?

    Prediction?
They appear to be the away day draw specialists having drawn five of their ten games on the road.
They have only lost two games on their travels, which is the second best in the league.
On average, they score and concede one goal per game away from home.

    Away formation for Saturday?
    9-0-1
Sit in and make it difficult for us to get through them. Lump it forward hoping to get a goal on the break.

They are a part time outfit.

It should be a nice day, slightly warmer, with a gentle breeze (8-12 mph) gusting occasionally to a fresh breeze (19-24 mph).

    Iron 2-1 Magpies @ 7/1

    £70,000

Philip Haslam (club accountant) received 21 months in jail.

Ian Daniels (club official) was handed two years in the big house.

    A good article.
Haslam (aged 23 at the time) had spiralling gambling debts:

Are The Spartans scared to face us?
I thought they feared no one?

    I’m mixing my rivers up, aren’t I?
It’s the lads from the banks of the River Blyth not the Evrota River.

Oh well, let’s have a chuckle at Chorley on the weekend.

Well we have two of the form teams of the League facing each other on Saturday, with Scunny having won 5 and lost 1 of their last six league matches, and Chopley having won 3 and dawn 3 of their six. I am going for a prediction of SCUNNY 1 CHORLEY 1.

There should be a gate of 3,400, but with it being a week or so before Christmas, the attendance will possibly not be more than this figure.

Scunthorpe’s main problem seems to be putting chances into the net, and probably it is time to give Elliot a chance and give Whitehead a spell on the bench, and hope that he doesn’t fall off it and get one of our other subs yellow carded ha ha! It would be nice to play two up froint, but this doesn’t seem to happen,it would be a very important game to win with Chorley and Chester with a game in hand, and it would open up that gap that would be nice to go into the New Year with.

Enjoy the game guys and lets hope for three points

A ‘gap’ would be psychologically massive.
A ‘gap’ beats opponents before you’ve kicked off.

Dean did say he was going to freshen it up. I’m expecting Law back in on the left hand side with Wilson on the right and Elliot up front. Smith and Roberts are clearly both talented but they always cut in and come central which makes it that bit more difficult when teams sit behind the ball.

Expecting Ogle to be back in too.

    I like width.
Cutting inside makes the (already) small pitch even smaller and you run in to more ‘traffic’

Exactly my point. I know the term is out dated now but Roberts and Smith are more “inside forwards” than attacking wingers.

Get down the sides to the line, whip the ball in to a ‘big un’ and a ‘quick un’ in the box.

Obviously hoping for a post SHM defeat reactionary home league win but this is going to a be tough game as Chorley in excellent form. IMO JD does need to change things up ab it n give Elliot a full game, Ogle back a boost and like to see Evans and Kouogun back in CD.

Evans looks terrible without Max beside him.

I’ll go 2-1 to us. Law and Butterfield as the scorers.

If the shortest correct score price is 11/2… why are we 7/10 (odds on) to win the game and the game to end in a draw is 13/5 ?
    Chorley to win are 3/1

Yet, the stats say that the most likely result is a 1-1 draw.

Chorley must have had an off day at their place if Dean thinks they’re genuine title contenders after the first ten mins they were very average and we should have won at a center.

    Yes agree ..
only change is Ogle so JD not shaking things up as previously commented ..
IMO i would have had Max in for Boyce and Elliot starting in place of Whitehall..

Hoping for a good performance , attendance and result.

Felt like a routine victory which is a credit to the players and management. Pleased to see us mix it up going direct which straight away resulted in a penalty.

Roberts looks to be coming good now, played some clever balls today and his touches and movement are a nightmare to defend against. No poor performances today from any individual though.

Only criticism is really the crowd size; I know it’s the week before Xmas but numbers are dropping off and 3,100 home supporters is poor IMO.

Similar start to the away game they were the better team for 25 mins then they just faded away, could have scored a few more but know matter a comfortable win, same first half as normal all very slow until fitz fed Roberts for the penalty. Man of the match for me was the sunset and certainly not Ogle ffs.

Whitehall had to be man of the match 2 goals and that cushion header for Roberts pure class.

Whitehall, Evans, Roberts, Butterfield certainly were worthy contenders for MOTM.

Was really impressed with Evans tbh, probably his best game for us.
