    On scarves and tartan…

Tartan was trendy back in the early-mid 70s, in line with the Rollers, but also the push for Scottish independence, and the Scottish look of the biggest club of the time – Man United – with Tommie Docherty in charge and his several Scots signings (Graham, Forsyth, Holton, Macari…).

But then came the ‘silk’ scarves (polyester actually) with tassles(!), and club names printed across, which neither of the above articles mentions. Very commercial in look, they couldn’t be made at home and they didn’t keep you warm. Perhaps they were a ‘suedehead’ accessory, to complement the crombie, sta-press and brogues?

But Braveheart should not have worn tartan – as it hadn’t been invented.
Almost as bad as all that woad which hadn’t been in use for over 500 years.
(My Kinross Pictish roots are showing through here.)

Good luck to the team for tomorrow (1-3 Win) and the fans making the journey – shame you cant drink in the clubhouse tomorrow – I’m led to believe one end of the bar is in England and the other end is in Wales :) UTI

Absolute farce Rotherham game called off tonight, assurances from Rotherham that they weren’t even going to have a pitch inspection, 2500 Ipswich fans were traveling up, and yet the railway station was shut before dinner which is less than 500 meters away, could and should have been called off before anyone traveled f ing disgusting.

I’ll keep an eye out for him Awaywego.

Make sure he behaves better than his Grandad.

One name, Elliot Whitehouse. Was always going to score today.
If anyone can tell me why we farmed him out on loan to Chester last season, and then let them sign him, I’d like to know.
