Going on a purely mathematical progression we should lose 5-1.

Going by my mathematical progression 4,5….., I predict needing the fingers on two hands to keep tally.

A 6-0 tonking I’m afraid, unless a new GK appears at the eleventh hour.

I’d be amazed if we concede less than 3.

No Brown , McGahey , Clarke or Rowe. Vincent is out as well, he’s back at the weekend..same as the other 4 players. I think it’s fair to say I’m not feeling too confident.

    Hornshaw at RB again ?

I hope Cox at least starts Gillead and Eisa and plays them where they should be played. Jarvis and Turan upfront. Beestin and Spence in CM.

I don’t know why I even bothered to go through the team, we’ll lose by 2 goals at the very least.

Given past performances of this and last season it’s probably another 20 odd games (I could be being generous) until Watson gives a MOM performance. So before we’ve kicked off the opposition will be thinking there’s goals to be scored against us…..and they aren’t wrong!! Our forwards know they’ve got to score several times to have a chance of getting anything for the game and going on our shot count per game that’s not a realistic expectation. If we concede inside 10 mins it could get v messy. Sadly any enthusiasm for the season has already dwindled away. I think I’ve been positive in the prediction league of only forecasting a 3-1 defeat!!

Their goals will likely outnumber our shot count.

    Going for a 3-2 Scunthorpe win :D

3 penalties, 2 sendings off and 1 goal disallowed.

should get 20000-1 at the bookies :)

A spawny 1-1 draw. There will be a reaction before normal service is resumed on the weekend.

The best first 15 minutes for months, where it looks like everybody is giving a damn. A couple of lucky strikes leading us to a 3-1 half time advantage. Final score: 6-3 defeat

Looks like a 6-4-0 formation tonight then and don’t any of you dare go over the half way line. Could it get any worse, both manager and assistant isolating and another player tested positive with a buddy joining him for company plus Russ back in charge. Beam me up please Scotty.

Yeah, that manager who got us out of this league last time we were in it, he’s rubbish isn’t he?

Would 0-0 with 11 men behind the ball really be a bad option in the current circumstances?

Going by his team set set up at home to Grimsby when we had a squad of much better players I would say tonight’s outcome barring a miracle is pretty much certain. I would take 0-0 absolutely but I’m also a realist and just cant see us getting anything, surely some ambition to attack would be a positive way to counter the constant pressure from total defending.

Having seen the team sheet it is abysmal.

So negative it beggars belief we can get worse, but we will if certain people don’t get a grip. Is this the plane – total surrender ?

Does look like 541 unless someone is partnering Jarvis upfront. Maybe Taylor will be an advanced/attacking midfielder. It’s the FB/WB areas that concern me considering how many crosses we let come into our box.

Yes, you’d expect Hornshaw & O’Malley to support Gillead & Eisa in attack. More likely is that Gillead & Eisa will be helping them to defend.

    What a start.

We’ve not had the ball yet.

Looked soft again but again stupid, inexperience. Hornshaw puts his hands on his back when he’s going nowhere and gives him a chance to con the ref.

Just turned it on with Cheltenham commentary.

“Scunthorpe look such a poor side and are here for the taking”

“They are side devoid of confidence”

    Here we go again !

This day 11 years ago we beat Newcastle United in the league. We knew it wasn’t going to last, but we also weren’t expecting to be sitting 2nd from bottom in the football league (based on current scorelines) so soon :(

    Hooper 19 goals – £2.4 million

    From Russ’s post match interview:-

“their back three was splitting and causing our front two massive problems”

I don’t quite undestand this. Firstly shouldn’t it be our front two causing their back three problems? Secondly if their back three are ‘splitting’ shouldn’t that create space for our front two to exploit? If a teams CBs are causing us problems then we really are in trouble.

One thing for sure, our front one, two or three (depending on set up, so it’s usually front one) don’t cause anyone any problems-evidenced by the number of goals scored this season. Oh how we need a prolific goal scorer.

Another Hooper would do nicely but that seems light years away.
