I have seen on Facebook that a number of fans will run on to the field a week Saturday and stage a sit in on the centre circle vs Hartlepool in an attempt to get the game abandoned!
Question is, will you take part?
April 20, 2022 at 11:36 am #236102that is a absolutely stupid idea, they will get arrested and banning orders and then regret it if new owners come in and we get a decent team, also seeing the Swanns will most likely not being hear will get the club in serious trouble with the FA
April 20, 2022 at 11:42 am #236104Just what we need – a possible points deduction to start off in our new division.

How many points were Blackpool deducted when they got their final game of the season abandoned a couple of years back? Pretty sure it was none.

I guess this attitude is why it’s usually young folk who end up doing most protesting to get things changed.

April 20, 2022 at 2:57 pm #236124Pointless. Swann will probably never be seen at Glanford Park again.
Also the young players coming through the academy don’t deserve it.
I wasn’t at Monday’s game but I’ve still seen the goals: technology is amazing.

Sorry that I had to explain that to you.April 20, 2022 at 3:32 pm #236126If they do it during the half-time interval it will save them from getting into trouble in the Iron bar……

April 20, 2022 at 4:08 pm #236142At least it’s more of a protest than walking out on 72mins and peaceful one at that. Ps did the mass walkout ever happen?
April 20, 2022 at 4:09 pm #236143Mick would you have been bothered if you had got a banning order for the last 3 seasons?

April 20, 2022 at 4:22 pm #236144Get the game abandoned? Pointless!
Pity we couldn’t have got the season abandoned in August!
Everyone on at the final whistle chanting “we want Swanny out!” Better.
Although I think the penny may have dropped by now.

April 20, 2022 at 4:54 pm #236146Personally I find that chant embarrassing especially when he’s probably never even heard it.

Topics: 100April 20, 2022 at 5:49 pm #236153A bad idea. Our supporters have made their feelings known in various ways according to their differing dispositions. I dont accept that we have taken this horror show without a murmur. Many have stopped going … a very effective way of expressing displeasure. Some padlocked the gates. Many have booed, chanted their feelings or displayed customised banners. Some lobbed tennis balls and ran around the goalmouth. I’m pretty sure that Season ticket sales are showing that many are not having any more of it until we see real change. Peter Swann’s decisions over the last three or four weeks leave me in doubt that he knows exactly how the fans are feeling. I’m not at all sure that sitting in the centre circle, with possible sanctions carried over, would be of any use even though it may be a way for some to vent their frustration. I have a dream that this will all be irrelevant … because new owners are introduced to the fans at the final game, they are a consortium with a bit of finance, the ground and surrounds are back with us and a golden future beckons. Please!!

April 20, 2022 at 7:36 pm #236161Are these people brain dead all these protests and people running on the pitch is costing the club in extra stewards, police and efl fines,
Protest but do it peacefully and don’t cost the club money they don’t have.3 users thanked author for this post.
April 20, 2022 at 8:30 pm #236165I think the point has been made, Swann will know the level of unrest from protests already made and he will be aware of the content of this forum FB and Twitter so theres no point in anyone protest and getting themselves and the club penalised and potentially incuring costs for any new owners, just try and get some enjoyment from what’s left of this terrible season.

April 20, 2022 at 8:30 pm #236166Announcing it like this is only going to alert the club to their potential actions anyway, which surely kills any point of it, as it will be snuffed out with aware stewards and police. Not well thought through to advertise it so publicly if this is what their plan is.
*Note. This is not me condoning, I disagree with it, it’s just a comment on it being so poorly thought out.

Topics: 100The question I ask myself is:
Why would I / You want to buy SUFC?
You ain’t going to make money owning a football club.
You will lose money owning a football club.
In the good times, the players & manager receive the accolades.
In the bad times, the board / chairman feel the heat.
SUFC will never win the Premier League or Champions League.
SUFC will never be a ‘big’ club.
Scunthorpe ain’t ever going to be a ‘metropolis’.
SUFC ain’t ever going to have big crowds as Scunthorpe doesn’t have a big population.150 years ago, the population was only 278.
In 2016 the population was 82,000
Clubs attracting a 5% population participation at games are doing well.
Therefore, 4,000 home supporters is a good gate.***************
In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson’s Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Scunthorpe like this:
SCUNTHORPE, a township, with a village, in Frodingham parish, Lincoln; 7½ miles N W by W of Glanford-Brigg.
It has a post-office under Brigg, extensive iron-works, and a Wesleyan chapel.
Acres, 998.
Pop, 278.
Houses, 50.
The manor belongs to Winn, Esq.***************
Scunthorpe isn’t a football hotbed in the way of the Mancs, Scousers, Geordies etc.
Recruitment will always be a problem – “where is it?” – at first team level and at the academy.
Every season, only one club in each of the Prem / EFL leagues can be crowned ‘champions’ – the rest, to one degree or another are all losers.
Chasing a dream isn’t a good strategy.
Man Utd’s current debt burden is £495M.
Their’s may very soon turn in to a nightmare? Why would I / You want to buy SUFC?
April 20, 2022 at 11:31 pm #236169Mick would you have been bothered if you had got a banning order for the last 3 seasons?
I did get one for the past two seasons, I gave myself ome, just a pity a lot more didn’t do the same thing andforce a change on how the club ws and still is being run down, and possibly out of existance.
April 20, 2022 at 11:39 pm #236170The point being he’s selling the club so it’s after the horse has bolted.
Sorry that I had to explain that to you.Don’t you think how stupid and why you have and still are given this guy your full suport over the past four years, and even before then Awaywego69, he has done absolutely nothing what so ever he has spouted over these long years, he does talk a good game, but his results have been really pathetic, and he has taken our once loved little club out of existance.
April 21, 2022 at 7:31 am #236176Although I agree a sit in is not a good idea, it certainly won’t bring a points deduction next season.

Exactly the same can be said for many, many clubs much higher in league status than us.
regarding population, Burnley is 88,920!

Eventually, the small town clubs are ‘found out’.
Many have enjoyed their “day trip” to the coast, a paddle in the sea and the sun on their backs; even the odd choc ice or two – but they just don’t have the resources and populace (and generated supporters) to sustain it.Oldham – first ex Premier League club to be relegated to level 5?
Oil Sheiks etc want the glossy, full fat, super high octane clubs to invest in.
Abramovitch wouldn’t have considered Leyton.
Sheikh Mansour wouldn’t have considered Stockport.
The lower leagues are littered with ex Premier League teams who “punched above their weight” for a while – but ultimately ended up “punch drunk”.
Burnley will go the same way.
Credit to them though, they’ve had a good run.1 user thanked author for this post.

April 21, 2022 at 9:31 am #236186It’s pointless taking Burnley’s population in isolation as 88k. Connected to it along a corridor there’s Nelson, Brierfield and Colne which have around 60k. Padiham is a few miles out and has 10k. So in a sort of ‘Greater Burnley’ you’re talking a population of 158k.

I presume you’re aware of the irony in this statement?

April 21, 2022 at 11:16 am #236193Why should the protesters be bothered if they don’t intend going anymore and whether the game is abandoned, it’s a Protest like or not. A pointless one imo but probably not to them.
