The government and energy companies need to do more to inform people of switching to ‘time of use’ tariff.

“What an awfully mean spirited post.”

Not remotely mean-spirited or weaponised, Deerey, it was simply a reaction to the incredibly naive and flippant views being expressed on this thread about the direction in which we’re heading. Certain people on here claim to care about the poor and needy while ridiculing comments from anyone who doesn’t fit what they believe to be an acceptable political profile; and it has absolutely nothing to do with me taking anything personally. The Tory party cares very much about poorer people and claiming otherwise is not only completely wrong but also, quite frankly, offensive.

I can assure you that it won’t be long before our lives are being controlled around energy use. Existing tariffs are designed to make better use of when energy demand is lower, i.e. in the middle of the night, but this is changing very rapidly as the country’s spare energy capacity is now dangerously close to zero. Why has this happened? For the simple reason that we’ve ploughed ahead with unreliable renewables, which are far too intermittent to meet our energy needs, while reducing highly reliable fossil fuels because of absurd net zero targets.

It will be years before reliable nuclear alternatives are available so things are going to get a lot worse. We can’t even power existing needs let alone what will happen when everyone has to use electric cars, though given their costs these will be restricted to those who can afford them so maybe that will keep the numbers down. Either way it’s the poorest in society who will suffer.

Finally, if you think things would be better under Labour, good luck. Starmer wants to be at net zero by 2030, which would be laughable if it wasn’t so serious. It seems to me that the only time our idiot politicians and net zero supporters will realise what they’ve done is when it’s too late. The real catastrophe isn’t that we’re “running out of time to stop climate change” but that we’re running out of time to stop forcing millions, billions even, being forced into poverty.

The high handed arrogance of Buck’s posts remains the one constant on these boards over many years, luckily the majority will just spend time dismissing them with the contempt they deserve. Dear dear me Buck’s, what are you like 😂😂😂

Await the huffing and puffing for being critical of the usual suspect, with accusations of bullying and abuse, when the critique is no more offensive or attacking than what he levels at others all the time for doing so much as disagree with him (God forbid).

Ridiculing the right for not fitting a certain political profile is bad, ridiculing centrists and the left is acceptable, seemingly. :-)

‘The Tory party cares very much about poorer people and claiming otherwise is not only completely wrong but also, quite frankly, offensive.’ Of course they do.They can help those lazy ,feckless public servants to survive on a pittance once they drive down their wages to provide Tax cuts .
They never claim that the unemployed are only so because they’re lazy, they never suggest that for your dole you should steal someone else’s real job and clean the streets.
The best one is attempting to make all claims and claimants use on online portal while bemoaning the fact “they all have smartphones”
They believe workers fighting for better conditions and pay should knuckle down and just hope rather than protest.
This idea about the left and conrol too? who’s governement is passing laws to make it virtually impossible to strike and protest effectively?in fact they grandstand in conference about peeling back human and workers rights legislation

These are the kind attitudes the Tories pander to,
Yeah they love the poor, they need them to sneer at

Not huffing and puffing at all, Siderite. I don’t give a toss what you or the usual suspects think. I’d have been very surprised had any of the comments been any different.

    You just don’t get it.

Yet you regularly do if someone disagrees with you, even civilly, and agreeing is not good enough if you’re a centrist or left leaning. So, despite your self-declarations I will stick to my own interpretation of your character and ability to accept others who have different opinions, as is my right.

Whether it’s accurate or not, it’s my own interpretation and I am free to call it out as you do with others based on your own.

Absolutely, Sidey, though your definition of “agreeing” is rather dubious.

TwoWrights , see oct 28 at 7.57pm..”as ever, time will tell.”
Unfortunately the juggernaut is travelling at such speed it has nearly arrived at the station. Digital currency is upon us and the consequences will be catastrophic for our freedoms (DON’T EXPECT THE RAMIFICATIONS TO BE SEEN IMMEDIATELY). “You’re just a conspiracy theorist ,Bill !” Unfortunately,
The totalitarian state is moving faster than expected, the misery and chaos is about to be unleashed on an unsuspecting public. But hey, I have warned you.

The idea that society is becoming cashless was never the conspiracy theory. The fear mongering about elites/illuminati/NWO/cultural marxists/aliens from Andromeda was.

No ad-hom attack here. I simply ask who is this guy? How qualified is he to present nothing more than a guy down the pub would present? What is his point? Quoting arch grifter Farage isn’t going to win many arguments, unless you’re one of those people who are triggered by ‘Woke Australia Becomes….’, which I suppose is the desired call to action? Solipsistic ramblings.

It all started going wrong with the phasing out of the bartering system.
