Pre match in here please
September 23, 2020 at 5:16 pm #195012Back to basics. As many as square pegs in square holes.
LESS passing sidewards.
4 4 2
That will be a good start.September 23, 2020 at 5:18 pm #195014Wouldn’t mind seeing a 4-4-2 and attacking football as promised, especially being at home. Not sure we have the personnel for it, especially at full back, but if fit I’d go for:
Watson
Clarke
Cordner
McGahey
BedeauGilliead
Spence
Vincent
EisaMcAtee
LoftIf Colclough is fit then he needs to be coming off the bench and making an impact. We really need to start seeing the Colclough that was by far our best player in the League One relegation season until he got injured!
September 23, 2020 at 6:31 pm #195017Like BLT’s idea, still leaves impact from the bench with Colclough, Hippolyte, Turan, Green and a couple of defenders in case of emergency. O’Malley in if McG not fit.
September 23, 2020 at 8:19 pm #195020I will predict what will happen on Sat now:
1) we will play pretty, but ineffective football between the two penalty boxes
2) the ifollow audience will be perplexed by both the formation & players not being played in their strongest positions
3) Carlisle will have two semi-decent chances, which our defenders & keeper will stand and watch as the ball ends up in the net.
4) The Carlisle keeper will be under employed as we fail to get a shot on target.
Me being the optimist though, I’m hopeful that somebody will score another ‘worldy’ out of nothing!
September 23, 2020 at 10:15 pm #195023Sounds like a carbon copy of the Carlisle home game last season!
September 23, 2020 at 11:10 pm #195024I am affraid that Nori Man has just about summed the situation what will happen, I go along with Sanfran like most supporters, but it never seems to happen, don’t ask me why, but after about three years of the same old rubbish, we can only sit back and hope!!!!!
September 24, 2020 at 4:52 am #195027Turan ahead of Loft for me, BLT.
Loft does not deserve a place in the first eleven after that display last week. He must be made to graft his way back into the first team – maybe via the odd twenty minutes from off the bench.September 24, 2020 at 8:36 am #195028Young player les, he has to be forgiven one bad game IMO. He knows where the net is and has shown he can pull out a ‘worldie’.
But if that bad game was down to a tendency to sulk if things aren’t going his way then Cox/Lillis need to nip that in the bud.September 24, 2020 at 12:00 pm #195038Watson
Clarke
Cordner
Bedeau
O’MalleyGillead
Spence
Vincent
EisaLoft
McateeIf players not yet match fit:
Mcgahey> Clarke
Turan> McateeSeptember 24, 2020 at 1:31 pm #195040Bit Harsh on Loft Les considering he’s scored 66.6% of our goals so far this season!
September 25, 2020 at 9:35 am #195059Presumably Loft is guaranteed a goal against his old club? I mean, that’s how it works when our former players come back here, so it’s only fair it works the other way round.
September 26, 2020 at 2:59 pm #195086Looking at today’s team I think the plan is managed relegation.
No Eisa, MacAtee or Colclough.
Up the Iron!

September 26, 2020 at 4:41 pm #195089Managed relegation 🤣🤣🤣.
Here we go again!!
September 26, 2020 at 4:57 pm #195091Keeper man of the match I think. Certainly need a commanding midfield player though, felt like the midfield was virtually non existent!

Topics: 4Atrocious football, but it’s a win.
It’s not going to be enjoyable if every time we are a goal up Cox is going to have everyone back in defence with negative substitutions. If it wasn’t for a very good Watson performance, and fair play to him for that, we may have drawn or lost. Better from Loft too.
From what I’ve seen I don’t see how Hippolyte is better than Eisa. Quite why Eisa didn’t come on, I don’t know. The game was crying for someone with a bit of quality and we may have offered something second half which would have been different than blind hoofs to no-one.
September 26, 2020 at 5:00 pm #195093TBH – Loft put a shift in.
‘Managed relegation’ failing, I note.
I just love the way the players grafted, toiled, moiled and worked for each other.
Defended well. Not a single weak performance. Very professional and better players to come back into contention.
Fortunate to get three points, really, but if you work – sometimes you get the breaks.
MOTM was Rory.
September 26, 2020 at 5:09 pm #195094A win is a win no matter how it is earned,Watson MOTM by a mile, need a CM to drive us up the pitch, when like today we were under pressure, but well done lads 3 points, something to build on???
September 26, 2020 at 5:15 pm #195096Tactics odd.
Bring on Eisa to stand on half way line in last quarter.
Two defenders would have to have been employed. I reckon we might well have stolen a second and still kept a clean sheet.THING IS – you can’t argue against a win but you ain’t going to get away with that kind of play every time you are sitting on a lead.

Topics: 4Well said, Lesgeo, my thoughts entirely. Those substitutions were not going to do anything but suck us into our own half and encourage Carlisle on. It was hard for us to break out. Even with Watson playing well we’re not going to keep everything out.
September 26, 2020 at 5:27 pm #195100Sitting on a lead eh,some things never change it seems. Glad I’m not bothering with i-follow it sound’s complete crap. If we can’t get back in to watch, which it looks like we won’t be, I shan’t be bothering forking out a tenner for crap reception and even crappier football.
September 26, 2020 at 5:28 pm #195101Really made harder work than what it should’ve been by retreating into the trenches after 70minutes, hopefully that’s something Cox drills out of them because more often than not we’d have conceded there.
However, credit where it’s due. There was so much hard work, determination and effort out there today. Excellent defending, especially from beadeau, cordner and Onariase when he came on.
MOTM was Watson. 3 brilliant saves that kept us in it. Pleased Rory has had a positive start to the season.
September 26, 2020 at 5:29 pm #195102Could someone break into Sinking Sands and steal the Wilcoxball playbook.
Great work rate from all the players but Cox needs to be picking up Watsons bar bill tonight.
After an hour with Hallam blowing out of his arse in his first game in 18 months he brings on Beeston and puts him in front of the centre backs. DI’d anyone spot the look on Spence’s face when Beeston told him to move forward. Confused, ou will be. Then he brings on another centre back and then brings on an out of favour left back in on to the right.
What the fick has Eisa done to upset him? Why was McAtee not on the bench?
Surely he is fit enough for 20 minutes of holding the ball up.Still 3 points in the bag so what do I know.
Ggreat to see Rory deliver a MOM performance but was pushed close by Gillead.
September 26, 2020 at 6:34 pm #195111WE was promised 4 4 2 attacking football a few weeks ago, but this is Ultra Wilcox and is awful to watch especially at home, the line up wasn’t set up for entertaining football and I think in 5 games we have only had 6 or 7 shots on target, I know we have players injured but we had 3 players who are attacking players either not involved or on the bench unused, so what is the news on Colclough because there has been no mention of injury as far as I know, and McAtee was isolating and not injured so should have been soon up to speed, and why isn’t Eisa starting.
September 26, 2020 at 6:48 pm #195113Win loose or draw if the team gives 100% then no complaints from me. That’s what we got today and a welcome three points. There’s only one Rory Watson one Rory Watson well done lad.
September 26, 2020 at 7:12 pm #195114Give them time Mick, it’s worth remembering that Cox has no managerial experience anywhere near this level so everything is a work in progress.
One thing is clear from the players interviews and the performance today and that’s he’s got the dressing room behind him and they’re willing to put the work in to grind out a result.
September 26, 2020 at 8:59 pm #195118so what is the news on Colclough because there has been no mention of injury as far as I know, and McAtee was isolating and not injured so should have been soon up to speed, and why isn’t Eisa starting.
I asked this when I saw the lineup last week at Crawley.
Are all three “For Sale”?
I think by deduction we had worked out that Beestin must have the infected player, yet he features today and McAtee doesn’t. Strange!
