So, if we don’t sell him now – we get nothing for him in the summer?
Double Jeopardy – don’t sell and we aren’t promoted… then we’ve really s4it out.
January 20, 2025 at 9:36 am #297526Is this the Barrie Thomas moment of the 2020s?
January 20, 2025 at 9:37 am #297527If we don’t sell he goes for free, big deal not, he didn’t cost us a fee initially and we would save on his high wages. If we are realistic about promotion we keep him but if a club comes in offering silly money then we sell anyway, either way it’s not an issue to get worked up about, players have come and gone for years but the important thing is the club remains, whatever division it operates in. Yes I want promotion but if it’s not this season so be it.

January 20, 2025 at 9:43 am #297529I think if he is sold a sizeable number of supporters will make such a song and dance about it, it will seem like Armageddon. Times we live in I’m afraid.

Pretty much how i see it … the club should cash in if the right offer comes in and carry on regardless promotion or not (not sure going up to NL would be all its cracked up to be as things are at the mo) , obviously Roberts leaving now for cash or the end of the season FOC will stir the wrath of some fans but THATS FOOTBALL.
January 20, 2025 at 10:56 am #297539Is it worth letting him go for say, £25,000? I don’t think it is unless there’s pressure to reduce the wage bill.

By the right offer i was thinking 100k … 25k Na , alas the BovD and Roberts himself have the final say not fans.
January 20, 2025 at 11:12 am #297543I’d be valuing him at £100k with an add on for X amount of appearances for his new club and a cut of any fee should the new club sell him on down the line.
January 20, 2025 at 11:30 am #297544Things are bad enough football wise without selling one of your best players,
Don’t make it easier for fans to walk away from the club attendance wise, would be so easy at the moment, I’m binning most away games it’s just not a good watch.
Committed at home this season but next?
January 20, 2025 at 11:33 am #297545I doubt we’ll get much of a fee. If, as suspected, he’s on a sizeable wage I don’t think there’ll be many clubs (at the level that will be interested) will want to pay a big fee and take on what will be a significant weekly outlay. As above, it could depend on how necessary it is to reduce the wage bill. We might have to settle for a free and a sell on but we could be stuffed without him. Tough decision for the board if there are offers and whatever they decide will probably upset 50% of fans. There’s no “right” decision is there?
January 20, 2025 at 11:39 am #297546£100k seems a lot for any player in NLN. Have any been sold for that sort of figure in recent years?
January 20, 2025 at 11:41 am #297547Almost always ‘Undisclosed’ these days.
January 20, 2025 at 12:27 pm #297550This lad is the only player we have with a footballing brain and one of only two players who can score, if he leaves it’s season over, and you can kiss goodbye to even the last play off spot.
Whitehall, Harris and Carlton scored well over 60 goals last season in NLN, but couldn’t even manage a shot a game under hapless Andy.
No Roberts, no promotion.
January 20, 2025 at 2:03 pm #297556He’ll have a say in it too,if any offer comes in

I think you’ll find that Whitehall has done okay under both hapless Andy and feckless Jimmy!
