Not obsessed with ex players coaching / managing but if Crosby is incoming I’m all for it. Club really needs a manager who understands it and cares for it with a passion. And be competent of course.
April 28, 2024 at 10:34 am #284682And which of Dawson, Dawson, Wilcox, Alexander, Cox, Knill, Baroclough, Money. Didn’t fit that bill.
Hardly an endorsement of inbred success obviously not forgetting the underwhelming promotion under Wilcox at the time. Wouldn’t scoff at any promotion now.April 28, 2024 at 10:35 am #284683Not for me,another job for an old boy. Nothing will change we will carry on in the Scunthorpe way.not the best record at port vale, only success alongside the man motivator. Need someone from outside the club to shake a few things up
April 28, 2024 at 10:38 am #284685Is Keith Hill still out there ????
April 28, 2024 at 10:44 am #284686Hopefully not.
April 28, 2024 at 10:44 am #284687This all depends,of course, if the Elliott-Dean Bromance can pass the next board meeting..

Im sure Mr Elliot will be lobbying for JD to be given more time ..

Wouldn’t scoff at any promotion now.I take your point to an extent but its still a sweeping generalisation. Some were better than others. You can group them altogether as ‘inbreds’ as much as you want, but it doesn’t prevent an ex coming in and succeeding where others failed.
April 28, 2024 at 11:14 am #284695Adkins was promoted from within. Was that ‘inbred’?
April 28, 2024 at 11:18 am #284697Bit like everyone saying we must get second place when we knew Tamworth were going to win the league.
All 3 second place teams in the NL, Nln, and Nls all lost yesterday and we all know it’s not unusual in fact more often than not the second place teams aren’t the ones who go up. Maybe just some things aren’t right, just take note of the trends and avoid the bad ones. Or as people say don’t expect a different outcome if you continue doing the same things Jimmy!April 28, 2024 at 11:20 am #284698What year did he play for us. “We’ve got our physio”
April 28, 2024 at 11:45 am #284700Crozzer would be a great shout but not sure where he’s based and perhaps unrealistic financially… yes he was Adkins’ number 2 and Nigel is the great motivator, but Crozzer is the ultimate professional. Perhaps his number 2 could be a great motivator, could that be Andy Butler? Doubt Nelson would return, both due to travelling and how things went last time.

April 28, 2024 at 12:02 pm #284703At least one person on here is closer than they think.
April 28, 2024 at 12:11 pm #284705Did JD give any post match interviews after yesterday’s defeat?, obviously nothing on the website which is ominous but only heard Torps give his after match account whilst waiting to exit the car park after the game on Humberside. His response when asked about Jimmy’s future was the classic ” the board will discuss and come to a decision they think appropriate for the club ” etc etc which is pretty bog standard TBF, what else could he say really?
April 28, 2024 at 12:12 pm #284706April 28, 2024 at 12:15 pm #284708Ollie Turner interviewed him for radio humberside. It’s on their bbc sounds if you’ve can get on that. I can’t seem to post a link to it.
April 28, 2024 at 12:19 pm #284709If WG is correct that the budget cut is 40% – trimming the heavy squad size alone could quite likely clear 20% – 25%.
Clipping some – but not all – of the big wages might achieve another 25%.
Could even allow for three decent signings incoming. How about pursuing Corbett on a season long loan?
40% cut would be fine – just spending the money a bit more intelligently and we should be looking towards the top few places once again.
With better tactics, top slot may well be within our grasp.April 28, 2024 at 12:26 pm #284712Thanks guys I don’t go hunting Facebook and hadn’t heard anything on Humberside, will have a catch up, cheers.
April 28, 2024 at 1:02 pm #284715Jimmy is obviously gutted and the way he spoke appeared very past tense, reading into that I cannot imagine him staying.
April 28, 2024 at 1:08 pm #284717He has been given every chaqnce with a large well paid squad and back up team, bu he has surely dug his own grave with his one up front system and with not straying from it even surely see with the 4-4-2 set up and going at this level of being in the second level of Non Leage, he must be sacfked this week. So although you have done a brilliant job Michelle, get rid of him now.
April 28, 2024 at 1:39 pm #284719First decision is how will the fans respond if JD is retained ?
Second is who will decide on those players offered a new contract, then search out new signings.
Personally we need a clearout and the new manager assemble a squad, that person must know this level but has the talent to progress to a higher level.

April 28, 2024 at 2:01 pm #284725Ask Port Vale supporters what they think of Crozzer
April 28, 2024 at 2:18 pm #284728I don’t know any. What sort of things might they say?
April 28, 2024 at 2:27 pm #284729“A proud achievement” and “amazing support” – Andy Crosby on spell as Port Vale manager
From a few comments I read seemed he was liked.

April 28, 2024 at 6:01 pm #284734He’s got to go.
He hasn’t got the knowledge, the ability, the motivational skills, the aura, the communication skills, the dynamism and adaptability needed to succeed at this level and above.
No disrespect to the young man but he and his ‘tactic’ are too one dimensional.April 28, 2024 at 6:17 pm #284735It’s the NLN, not the prem or politics!
Which managerial superman with all those attributes would take a job here, and with hardly any cash to spend?April 28, 2024 at 6:27 pm #284737Have you seen the person spec sheets for road sweepers and bin people?
You need a degree to empty bins these days.Alternatively, let’s aim low and wallow in the cesspit for a decade or two?
April 28, 2024 at 7:39 pm #284748No one’s saying we need a ‘managerial superman’ just someone competent enough to take us up. I and plenty others don’t think Dean has the attributes to accomplish that.

April 28, 2024 at 7:47 pm #284749This season was the chance to go up with Hilton’s fantasy league squad. We haven’t taken it and are now in the boat that Stockport and York were so strap in for a long and difficult ride.
