April 27, 2024 at 5:51 pm #284567I agree, but not the first thing I’d have said. Sick as a pig.

April 27, 2024 at 5:52 pm #284568To not win this in regulation is quite frankly, ridiculous.
April 27, 2024 at 5:54 pm #284569That was so f**ked up! An awful way to lose such an important match.
So it’s another season in this stupid division. Bo**ocks!!!
April 27, 2024 at 6:23 pm #284579You wouldn’t have known it was that important judging by the performances
April 27, 2024 at 6:23 pm #284580The team today looked more than a bit as if we had reverted to those successful days back in January and February.
Can’t fathom why we didn’t win!
Why did Evans not take a penalty?April 27, 2024 at 6:25 pm #284581Should have been knocking them in in ET really. Shite. Bang average against decent sides
April 27, 2024 at 7:10 pm #284592He is not the man. Should be walking this division with this squad. Totally sucked the confidence from the players over the season with the way he set the team up.
Any competent manager would have had this squad promoted

April 27, 2024 at 7:14 pm #284593Played right into Boston and there defences hands.
Best team won. They came with a plan and took it.
We had no plan!!He’s got to go. Out of his depth
April 27, 2024 at 7:14 pm #284594So we’ve gone from a manager sacking club to sticking with what we’ve got. The long term cost may be considerable.
April 27, 2024 at 7:30 pm #284597Set up today was awful, barrows struggled and Beeston on the left has been rubbish there all season, so called big players didn’t turn up,butterfield, roberts, whitehall, sorry jimmy you got it all wrong today, but I will always be thankful to you for helping to hold this club together in our darkest days, but it’s time to go.

April 27, 2024 at 7:52 pm #284601What is wrong with CLARKE and CORBETT ? All season we have played without a keeper on the bench, so today he does and we lose an extra outfield player ?
Many have said that JD had no plan B, are you sure he had a plan A ?
New leadership needed and a clearout.

April 27, 2024 at 7:54 pm #284602Contract length needs consideration. Can’t be having a lot of the squad thinking they might not be there for much longer come January

April 27, 2024 at 8:09 pm #284607Are we sure JD is out of contract?guy in the ground today said Simon Elliott had told him he was on a two year deal and would be here next season. Now you read all sorts of pap on here and get told plenty in the ground but I have no idea if this bit of news is true or not, anyone on here actually know?
April 27, 2024 at 8:51 pm #284617Dean should have gone months ago He is tactically inept With the squad he had they should have walked the league
April 27, 2024 at 8:54 pm #284618Definitely out of contract come the end of the season. I hope to god he’s not been resigned.
Everything in our favour, biggest and best squad the NLN has ever seen, Biggest fan base and Boston had played 120 mins a few days before and looked knackered around 60-70 min mark.
Beestin was dreadful and because Barrows was also at LB we looked lopsided and disjointed. Beestin should have been kept in CM where he looked to be getting back to his best and Kelly should have been in at LB until he’s tired and then bring Barrows on.
Beestin moved from CM is crazy really.
Budget will be cut by 40% next season so Dean’s got absolutely no chance on planet earth of getting us up. I wouldn’t mind Boston’s manager Culverhouse if they don’t get promoted. Least they play in a positive manner with two strikers.

April 28, 2024 at 1:21 am #284638Thought today was a microcosm of Jimmy’s failures for us this year; failed to respond what was happening on the field and too rigid with tactics, for too long.
Very strange to sit so deep and allow Boston to play through us, were we worried about pace ? The subs arrived 10 minutes too late, we were far more direct with 2 up top. Midfield looked disjointed as it has for large portions this year, it may seem harsh given our points total, but there has been warning signs all year against the better sides.
Ultimately you can spin it how you wish, unfortunately I can’t get over the fact we have spent 3 times (possibly more) than anyone else. That is a failure.
I thank Jimmy for his efforts with us if he were to leave, he’s really tried to change the culture at this football club which has been toxic for a number of years. He’s clearly passionate and loved being the manager of Scunthorpe as if it were one of us in the hot seat. But IMO we need someone with more tactical nous, there will be a reduced budget next year as we all know, if we have failed to achieve promotion this year then I see it highly unlikely Jimmy will achieve this aim with significantly less cash at his disposal.

Hard to disagree with any of this.
Outside looking in finishing second and calling for the managers head would look insane. But with the cost of this squad and players it is nothing but a failure.
The second half of the season has been abysmal and left us questioning if we would even finish second.
At the start of the season we were free flowing, confident and playing good stuff. The reason we were not playing like that consistently through out th season is down to one man.
April 28, 2024 at 5:56 am #284650Definitely out of contract come the end of the season.
Clear his desk Monday, say goodbye to the players & staff then away by lunchtime.
Hopefully!April 28, 2024 at 8:22 am #284654I started to type my own post mortem of yesterday but what’s the point, I agree with everything already said. There’s a dozen ways yesterday could have been done better but he didn’t do it. Everyone could see what was wrong from the first announcement of the team.
Obviously we won’t be able to afford several of the players from this years squad going forward but, honestly, it is time for a massive clear out.
I’ve tried to support JD as much as possible but it has to be over here for him now. Thanks Jimmy and good luck in the future.3 users thanked author for this post.
April 28, 2024 at 8:39 am #284658When Hilton brought in JD his mandate was promotion or bust .. he is a really nice guy passionate about the club and fans but he failed so he should go.
IMO next season will be harder than this and with a whole new squad and JDs replacement needs to be brought in ASAP ..IF its gonna happen at all.
Any Ironbru members got any names of his replacement ??? my memory keeps drifting back the Admiral Nelson but im sure there are numerous others out there who would consider the challenge.
April 28, 2024 at 8:42 am #284662yes it is time to thank you and good bye. We all knew Beeston should be in central midfield. He’s the only midfielder who ever drives forward and gets in the box. Perfect eg just before he’s subbed he drives forward into the box from a central role, passed to Whitehall (could have chosen Roberts). That’s where he should have been playing from the start not Scales or Butterfield. Could have then at least one left footer on the left. But despite the evidence JD rather than take Scales or Butterfield off for McAlinden and move Beeston inside, he keeps it safe. Nice bloke but this job is beyond him.

John Askey who got York out of here and got Macclesfield into the league on a pittance was being mentioned last night.

April 28, 2024 at 8:49 am #284666Personally, I’d be happy with Nelson and it would be some story if he came back and did well after what happened.

April 28, 2024 at 9:55 am #284676We need a non league manager if we’re going for an inbred than why not Carruthers.
Fan
s obsession with ex Scunny is beyond me.
What I would like is to see more ex Scunny that would be Jimmy, Turnbull,Butler And not forgetting the goalie coach who seems to turn every goalie into a worse goalie than when they first arrive. -
