I wasn’t able to get down to Scunny this weekend but speaking to friends, reading this board & other online messages, it seems that there is a real buzz around the club at the moment, both before and after Saturday’s game. Huge credit has to go to Lee Turnbull for everything he has done to try to build some bridges after the misery of last season; I really didn’t think a crowd of 3,000+ was possible this early in the season, delighted to be proven wrong.
Of course, all of this could have been done years ago and the fact it hasn’t been done says a lot about the previous chairman’s reign.
Best of all, if the buzz is this good at the moment, just imagine what it will be like if Swann does sell up – that will be a party worth going to!
But Swann leaving might be a Lightyear away.
But Swann leaving might be a Lightyear away.
Good pun, but even if you’re right, it’ll only make the excitement even bigger when he does toddle off. This week has shown that the fans’ passion for the club is still there, I think a few of us were beginning to doubt that over the last couple of seasons.
Lets hope Swann goes to infinity and beyond.
And probably most of the 3000 still want Swanny out but to their credit they haven’t stopped going just because of one man.
Each person made their decision based on what they thought.
When the EGO has gone then real advances will be made in many areas. This will result in better crowds and allow increased revenue to be reinvested instead of wasted on the KDt’s of this world.
Better crowds will come with a team worth watching, Swann or no Swann. 1700 casuals gave the team a fresh viewing more than anyone predicted on Saturday so it’s a start. Maybe we don’t need rid of Swann with the buzz around now Turnbull is running the show. But yes it would be better the sooner he moves on.
