I am normally totally against fielding weakened teams in all but the tinpot cup. However, the combination of only 1 automatic promotion spot and no reserve or U-21 games means our squad players have to get some game time somewhere.

Real shame about Roberts but probably explains the potentially expensive loan deal for Smith.

Roberts out for another 2 to 3 months

Have we been done? Here’s some of what a Notts County fan said when we signed him:-
“Notts fan here. That signing is crazy ! Keep him fit and he’s the best player outside of the EFL
Then he got injured and it was one of those injuries where they couldn’t find the root cause.
He still looked great but had niggles and was in and out the team.
He signed for Aberdeen where he got injured and was pretty much out all season.
Keep him fit and build the team round him and he will get you back to back promotions.

Another Luke Williams? I do hope not.

After listening to JD it seems a bit iffy regarding Roberts IMO, let down by two specialists, two operation’s because the first one wasn’t done properly but it’s not a serious injury just one that needs treating and managing properly, mmm it’s a deffo “let’s wait and see but not convinced “ moment for me.

Are you still going 3-2 either way?

    I’m going 3-1 to us at 12/1

    A bit if insurance on:
    4-0 at 20/1
    4-1 at 25/1

Just listened to a bit of commentary on the way to pick my granddaughter up, wishing the medical emergency fan a full and speedy recovery, too bleedin’ hot for playing football.

Well that was bloody shite all round, what a poor performance have we learnt nothing from the Curzon game, stop trying to walk the ball in, play at pace and run at defenders and don’t forget to have a shot now and then. No fancy dan penalties pick a corner and blast it, shite ref again why not abandon the game when he awarded the penalty, instead of the farce that ensued, must have gone off and told his first decision was wrong, got to feel sorry for Buxton, though they actually offered nothing really, stupid penalty from us tell players to not rise to the bait. Club must stop selling bottled drink fans just want to throw them i went over and bollocked a group of lads but of course they said it wasn’t me guv, surely someone must have been stood next to one of the scrotes ffs give them a slap.

That’s good to hear Pele, still better to threaten them, steward couldn’t do alot if he didn’t see them.

I’ve watched a lot of football over decades.
From time to time you see teams who cheat consistently throughout a game.
TBH – I’d forgotten that such wanton behaviour used to be the norm in the old Div 4.
Let us applaud Buxton. They reached the ultimate in low depths of: cunning, dishonesty, cheating and fakery which did not fail to impress me.
May their season end in relegation!

Be interesting to hear your take on the ref les, for me completely useless from start to finish, only thing he got right was the sending off and most ten year olds would have got that right. The yellow on the lad who elbowed Evans was another red IMO, a quite shocking incompetent performance from the man in black and I don’t mean Johnny Cash either.

It would have been the lino that recommended he be sent off, so not even giving the ref that, Ironawe.

A former Premiership linesman – a friend – was sat two rows away and agreed that the foul on Cam was a definite straight red.
We may not have deserved to win but Buxton certainly deserved to lose. Even with the softest red, there were three red cards not awarded.
(Okay, one was actually two yellows – but that one should have been a straight red.)

    A truly terrible watch.
Curzon set up defensively and it worked, we learned nothing from that it seems. Other NLN teams will now be aware.

Poor performance today; referee has took away the spotlight on what I thought was a sluggish, lacklustre display.

Teams will frequently come to GP and not want 4 putting past them like S’boro and co, we need to learn to find different ways of breaking them down. 2nd half it seemed to go sideways over to Ogle who proceeded to whip a ball on their big centre backs head. Fair play to Buxton; they defended brilliantly.

A let off for us it seems if the game is abandoned.

    Two observations:-
    Not impressed by either loanee
IFAIR we didn’t win a contested header in either box.

Ok I suppose. The young lad from Leeds, Jack Jenkins added more. Scales is a huge miss to this team, you could see that in today’s performance.

Smith reminded me of when we put KVV up front as a lone striker and we said get on with it. When you’re out of position it is glaringly obvious. Messi wouldn’t look very good at centre-half! Smith is no Neil Bishop.

Well that really was a one off type of game, the team played poor, they couldn’t even beat a team that played for 55 mins with tyen men, they could not even convert a late penalt, and in games like that when teams play with nine men at the back, it is no good us playing down the middle, wide playing is the only way. Buxton did not deserve to win, and if they had not constantly dived and acted to be injuredd, they would never have been 10 mins added time, so it serves them right that the game has to be replayed. Added to a poor team performance, the officials had no clue, and got many things wrong throughout.

The training sessions should spend a lot of time working on breaking down nine men defences, because at the moment they do not know the answer, and a few teams will adapt this type of play, but I feel sure we will sort it out. Next weeks game should be different, because Brackley should play a more open game.

Thing is barton without Clunan and now scales missing we don’t move the move around quick enough. Those two are huge misses.

Surely Buxton will appeal the abandonment and any decision will be in the hands of the NLN top brass…my prediction is for what ever reason they come up with they will confirm the result stands no replay

Crazy game .. in so many ways.
First n foremost a terrible Scunny performance
Yellow cards like confetti , a straight red with more overlooked
2 penalties one given by the linesman
a medical emergency in the crowd (hope the guy is ok)
    freakiest weather
diabolical officials were dire on so many issues
Buxton time wasting player falling to the ground for no reason.

IMO not solely basing this on yesterday but Elliot should not be taking pens ..ridiculous run up is all to predictable and he will have more saved then he scores…

Game should have been halted and restarted or abandoned earlier well before the Elliot pen.

If the abandonment stands ..we got out of jail and very lucky as Buxton came to do a job on us and did it well … it seems Scunny simply cannot find a way to break down teams that set up and play this way ALA Curzon now Buxton and this needs sorting out.

This also highlighted just how much we miss Clunan , Scales and Beestin.

When we conceded the 2nd – had nobody noticed that Ogle had been subbed?
I sincerely doubt that we’d have conceded that one with him on the pond – sorry, I meant pitch.
No blame to JD – he was just going for a win.

The abandonment at the time was a relief but now I think the result will stand once the refs report goes in.

Yes i agree .. IMO refs report in , NL panel sit and result will stand no replay… if the opposite happens it would be a real surprise and very lucky for the Iron.

Same pro ref I mentioned earlier told me this morning that although he believes the interpretations of NLN rules may well lead to a replayed match, it is by no means guaranteed.
Apparently, the ref’s report on the game is critical. Representations from other parties may be considered irrelevant by the ‘NLN powers that be’.

Personally, I cannot see how an incomplete match can be declared complete post abandonment.
The thought crosses my mind that this could turn into a legal case. A tort, maybe?
