Yep. That was my point. Novice Manager ie still learning. Early doors. Not arguing with some of the gripes above. I left on Saturday feeling as if it was a loss when I was sure, when Roberts hit that free kick, that we’d go on to get a couple more. But I don’t think winning this League is a given … and definitely not a right. But I’d be a lot more pessimistic if we were sitting in 10th or even 6th and had some obvious improvements to make. A long way to go.

Worth noting despite the final scoreline on Saturday we had numerous chances to win whereas Oxford City didn’t. Say what you like about Butlers style of management but when your best striker misses two golden opportunities to head the team in front I can’t see how Butler can be held responsible for that. It was overall a disappointing display but we should have won if all the players had turned up and done what they are best at and what they get paid for.

I get that, IA. But broker in some of the most unattractive football we’ve ever played – and attendances are going to take a hit.

If we win home games fans will turn up IMO the unattractive football will be forgotten by the majority, it’s all about winning to most of them.

Well yes it is which was my point about players missing nailed on chances they should bury with their eyes shut, not Butlers fault whatever the brand of football produced on the day.

Stop targeting. Go out to win all games. Make substitutions when needed not when the tech devices say they have run 10 foot more than they should have type rubbish.

And the biggest need when you read so many comments – Learn how to pass a ball.

The Brand of football has been the same has it not? And that’s down to the management.
Players missing nailed on chance’s think that may go with territory of only plying there trade in this league.
    Same as the passing.
But either way they shouldn’t be missing sitters as you stated.
Wasn’t at the game and don’t see all games.

Love the Iron but I find it difficult to go to games and watch absolute dross.
For sure fans including myself will not go if this lack of entertainment continues.

Been quite a few on here saying the need for another striker, if you were witness to the glaring misses against Oxford City then maybe they have a point, hopefully Butler will be pressing for another option up front now after last Saturday’s dross in front of goal.

The position I’d be strengthening is in midfield.
Dixon from Warrington. Hard to knock off the ball, great feet for a 6ft plus

I’ve seen fishburn tbh he doesn’t look upto much. Carlton rough diamond but not sure who will show him the way.
    And then it leaves Whitehall.
If he cut his bloody Antics out he’d quite possibly get a move to a higher club.
But as someone wrote a fox in the box! Hmm would be great.
My opinion we needed two in before Chester to shake it up a bit and make a few ears prick up.

Thing is with Butler is a lot of what he follows is data based and he isn’t applying common sense. If he would have left Roberts on last weekend we would have won, but because of data he takes him off and we all go to shit. This is happening far too often and it’s biting us in the arse.

This formation doesn’t really work either. For the most part we’re strong and robust, but because we have no real ball player in CM and we lack size it doesn’t work. Only match we’ve put somewhat of a full performance in was against Kidderminster at home.

Agree with most of that WGs ..

IMO The formation AB seems to be set on is fine away from home but should not be used at home and a more attacking line up from the off .. alas do we currently have the personal to adapt im not sure we do at the moment and a couple of injuries to key players like Roberts would hit harD.

I know money is tight but in earlier interviews it was mentioned i think by both AB and Michelle funds were there to bring in players if required.. 100% need a striker and more strength in midfield.

Fishburn is a work in progress.
I’m not sure that he yet realises just just how tough and hard you need to be in that role.
Irrespective of whether my call is right or not, he is actually getting rather too much pitch time.
Has there ever been anything said about why Carlton is yet to contribute? – Updates?

The manager and the team have got to turn up at Chester with or without a new addition to the squad can’t say about Brackley but they probably turned up there from what I’ve read, and definitely turned up against Kidderminster, don’t really see why we cant turn up every week though.
Loads of games to go but in the scheme of things this game is massive for Butler, (well maybe not he’s got his contract extension) but you all know what I mean.

Carlton is on his way back after picking up an injury. Before that he was rusty due to a lack of game time and looked miles off it and then he picked up the injury. Not been a good start where he’s concerned at all.

Desperately need another striker through the door and a more robust central midfielder who can play a bit. Not been quite right in CM all season. Always said Scales has looked best when he played those games at RWB. Full of energy and desire and would work fine a midfield 3 but doesn’t look right in a two man midfield due to him lacking calmness and a bit of technical ability.

Everything with Scales is a 100mph. Only problem is because Clunan isn’t the biggest we need a more bigger CM next to him so we don’t get bullied. That 34yr old Bohan Dixon from Warrington just barged scales and clunan out the way and ran right through them. I did think Brogan would have been the one we needed in there, but despite a strong start he’s seemingly gone backwards.

Disagree entirely and that’s a fairly big IF. I’d rather lose whilst trying to win than win trying not to lose by playing defensive, turgid football.

To quote flat caps’ recent tweet in reference to wether he would be turning up to Chester:

‘I can’t do it. Scarborough away drained me, it was so bad. Told my daughter if we did well there we’d do Chester, but it was bloody awful. It was bad at Newcastle (Town), and even worse at Guiseley. Gone are the days of going no matter what, nowadays need to be entertained.’

Tells you something about the football we are playing when even the die hards can’t bring themselves to watch.

Our current style of play does not lend itself to attracting new fans (or even retaining the fair-weathers) particularly the younger generation. In a world of endless technology and accessibility to unlimited entertainment and sport, paying customers expect a minimum level of entertainment which we are failing to meet.

Not sure whether it’s me or not but football has become stale. Why is every manager want to play the Pep way?

I go to the match to be entertained, same as if I go out for a nice meal I want good food.
If the requirements aren’t met then I lose interest. Find it difficult to watch players/team keeping possession for the match for the ball barely to go over the halfway line. Sideways and backwards drives me crazy. The need for goalmouth action is a must.

I really hope AB shakes things up a bit and we start to play a better brand of football but I have my doubts especially with what is on offer.
Michelle stated we needed to get of this league this season, I just hope this next two months we don’t start to lag behind because attendances and the feel good factor will drop off and cause damage.

I hope for the souls that go to Chester on Saturday come home with some good news and 3 points. But

Is the Pep way stale? Lots of goals, some of the best players in world football playing for City, ah yes they don’t wear a red kit kit and talk in a silly Scouse accent, just remembered in time.

Was nether going to Chester but booked for Southport, Leamington and Marine all on the back of the good start and of course the cheaper advanced rail tickets.
Definitely wouldn’t be booking them all if the rail tickets had come out during the last couple of weeks.
And there you have it Ironawe, Pep has some of the best players in the world and we don’t, nothing to do with them not having a stupid scouse accent and we certainly don’t.

No by far from stale and he’s always had the best teams/money at his call which helps.

But I don’t want to see it tried/tested by inferior teams/players. Just think football is more engineered now than actually seeing a flowing game.
If we was to witness a slightly more direct of play than the sideways stuff we do maybe the games would be more exciting. AB seems to be more wanting possession based games than actually going out and giving someone a good hiding. Saying that we were all thinking at some point the team will click and do exactly that but!!
Fingers crossed they prove me wrong Saturday,

Maybe our players just need a Pep talk pre match and that will fix it.

Exactly Roaming Bull. Stop messing with shape, formations or whatever – pick one and stick to it eg 442 or 433 my preferred options. Make opponents deal with what we do, stop with the chuckle style and improve the passing because so many complain about passes being either too slow or just poor.

Substitutions when you have to not when the analysis says someone has played a minute too long or run few yds too much. Keep it as simple as possible. And remember that word ENTERTAINING.

Perhaps a more experienced manager ?? Ar but that costs serious wonga so lets run with the cheaper option who gets his buddies in to try to muddle together a team , most of which have no love or afiltiation to the club having been signed by a former fraudulent owner..

    WHAT COULD GO WRONG ???
