Had his ten games, from early reports of today no where near a title winning team.
Big ego as is always the case refuses to learn or change when clearly nearly everyone can see it’s not working (except the board obviously) not for me I’m afraid.

Well, if he can’t see what is wrong and fix it ( either by altering our style of play or getting in new personnel) then the wisdom of an extended contract is to be questioned. Others, wiser than me have pointed out the the league is not won in October ….. makes you wonder what the board were thinking!

Agree .. how obvious is it what needs to change , the formation and personal with at least 2 additions needed and quickly.

IMO contract extensions were really premature and should have been left on the back burner to see where we are come Xmas and the NY .. today just reinforces my opinion but alas too late.

We didn’t play particularly well but on another day we would have scored five or six. If Whitehall could head a ball we would have been out of sight.

Joking aside I do hope this topic doesn’t gather pace because the effort that many have put into the club don’t deserve another season missing out.

So Come on AB lets get those wheels straightened.

Two or three cleared off the line, two or three good chances not converted.
Final five minutes were just scrappy, when you need to hoof it, just hoof it, don’t wrestle for it in the area.

    We are boring and predictable.
Watching football at GP is painful.
Let’s not forget our players train full time and are professional most the opposition are not!
The league position isn’t telling the real story and I’d be astonished if we are top 3 come Christmas.
Butlers interview was a worry… essentially he’s got zero interest in changing the formation and style of play.

Yep we are doomed … unless things change like personel and formation

    Poor today, really poor.

Centre mid continues to be a burden, it has no impact on the game whatsoever. I just can’t warm to Clunan and feel he is a big part in why we are so slow with our build up.

Wing backs are hardly involved and the formation slowly evolved into a 5/3/2 which was what people feared.

Butler will be feeling the pressure tonight, we are still in a great position but supporters won’t tolerate this form.

Makes the contract extension this week look even more laughable.

We didn’t play well, but can’t see why a full time team at the top of the league tried to play for a 2-1 win in the last 15 minutes against a team in the bottom two, it’s bad enough playing defensively but inside your six yard box was a accident awaiting to happen.

And what is this back four playing keep ball for five minutes in the first half all about.

Clunan is a great shout cliffys right peg, offers absolutely nothing and makes the midfield lightweight… how he’s first on the team sheet is a mystery!

Gotta disagree about Clunan yesterday, Cliff.
He worked harder than anyone on the pitch; never stopped trying to get the others to do their jobs; was my MOTM.
Okay. He wasn’t hugely successful – I’ll grant you that – but he wanted to win more than any other Iron player, IMHO.

Yep I thought Clunan and Roberts were the best of an average bunch at best yesterday, still had enough chances to win but our strikers were really poor. Whitehall did a lot of work and put a lot of running in but his two headed misses were absolutely appalling, truly amateurish and please Whitehall stop throwing yourself on the floor looking for non existent free kicks, makes you look such a pillock.

If he spent more time on his game than rolling around he’d be a half decent striker. His antics are truly embarrassing and the ref’s are onto him.

    Indeed…

‘Imagine calling for the managers head when you’re top of the league. These f*ck wits are part of the problem.’

Indeed. we’ve seen the 6 point lead at the top whittle down to 1 while playing absolute dog shit both in the sense of the teams we’re playing of late and our play as well.
They’ll be no one on here who can tell you hand on heart say we look like a top of the league team that can go on and win the title.
Id Honestly be more happier if we were in a playoff position but looking like we could win the league than where we are now.
Same last season when we were top or thereabouts we actually never looked like we could win it and we didn’t and bloody failed miserably in our one and only playoff game, 2nd we were and Boston where 7th must finish 2nd everyone said, so I’m not having someone say these f*ck wits are part of the problem I’m not and many others aren’t either.

When AB finally has to start the process of changing the system, I’m hoping that we are still in contention. The longer we wait, the more problematic it’s gonna be.
I am far from convinced that our lads are fitter than all the semi-pro teams.
(Incidentally, I am unwilling to judge the fringe players until we have seen what they can do in a better system.)
We have all been discussing for a while the duo of loanees we need but time is of the essence. If action is not taken before we drop out of the playoffs – the standard of player that we can attract will have diminished.

We’d be better off getting players in whilst we’re top. i.e. before the Chester game .

Sorry Deerey Butler failed to address my requirements, pre Brackley in a post minimum playoff spot and look like a team that can win the league after 8 games, and i gave him 10 so calling for his head well justified imo.
I started the post 10 mins after the game finished, and believe I got him down to a tee from his interview hrs later so no need to wait for me top of the league or not.

Opinions differ. Fine. Some opinions are more reasoned than others. Definitely. A novice Manager has you top of the League after ten games … has a 3 or 4 game blip coinciding with a depleted forward line .. and the calls for sacking begin. My opinion .. for what it’s worth .. is that the cup is three quarters full. Whitehall should have recovered in two weeks ..I don’t think he was fully there on Saturday. Carlton could be in the squad in a couple of weeks and making a significant contribution by November. I would be surprised if we haven’t brought in a couple of loans by Christmas. I’m optimistic that we’ll be in a good position by the New Year. I’m not sure .. but I’m optimistic.Thats my opinion.

Don’t think you need optimism to be a good position by the new year as you put it in this league, id take it has a given and I do take it you mean in a good playoff position, haven’t seen one team to worry about other than ourselves shooting ourselves in the foot.
And I would say that’s the reality of where we are at this moment in time can we become a title winning side course we can, just needs the ego to disappear, learn and change Butler!

    Two things:-
It’s not just a 3 or 4 game blip though is it. Even when we were winning we were far from convincing.
I haven’t seen much call for sacking, the odd one or two of course but that’s to be expected from certain quarters. The majority just want to see some decent football which would need change from Butler tactically and a bit of recruitment.

    4-4-2.
    Square pegs in square holes.
    Round pegs in round holes.
Stop the pointless running the clock down / breaking play up late in the game substitutions that can actually work against you.
Don’t make substitutions that aren’t necessary – i.e. throwing players on just so as they pick up their appearance money and they remain your ‘mate’.
Keep it simple – pass the ball to a player wearing the same colour shirt as yourself.
    Run, battle, give your all.

Totally agree cass , other than Brackley and Kiddy performances have been very unconvincing.

Cant say ive seen any SERIOUS meaningful calls for AB to be sacked ( a day after hes just got a contract extention 5555555 ) what i am seeing is a huge call for him to change formation, tactics and the club to get 2 or 3 new faces is ASAP as its plain to see we badly need a striker as well as a couple more posItions.

What’s the title of this thread? Which bit of this post am I misunderstanding?
