Bunn is a god player for this division, no nothing about O’Neill but I understand he played well the other night.
July 23, 2021 at 5:45 pm #210816Glad O’Neal signed for 2 years, whether it works or not, and last year overall it didn’t.
July 23, 2021 at 6:10 pm #210817Another big lad by the look at the picture of him at the side of Cox.
July 23, 2021 at 6:13 pm #210818I don’t know why but something inside is screaming George Miller…..
Bunn looks a good acquisition
July 23, 2021 at 6:15 pm #210819I said Andy Keogh on the other thread IA.
Let’s see which of us is closer!
July 23, 2021 at 6:38 pm #210821For the first time, I am starting to see little reason to worry too much about 23rd and 24th.
Now. As one who has supported Cox as much as humanly possible – I expect him to show us what he is capable of.

July 23, 2021 at 6:50 pm #210823I supported Cox purely and simply because you’ve got to give a manager a reasonable amount of time, let’s hope we see him for a third season, because is record says he should have gone by now the way we have sacked managers.
July 23, 2021 at 6:54 pm #210824Let’s pray its you NI

July 23, 2021 at 6:54 pm #210825What is Bunn’s primary position?
Good to see some attacking players finally through the door; Definitely need another striker- ideally one with a proven record at this level.
July 23, 2021 at 6:55 pm #210826The proof of the pudding etc etc les, despite many people’s opinion on the owner not being favourable we have to give Cox, his staff and above all his players the benefit of the doubt till a few balls have been kicked in earnest this coming season. All genuine fans want these lads to succeed and do well this season, the gloom has to start lifting sometime why not this season with these new players giving us all something to cheer about.

July 23, 2021 at 6:55 pm #210827So true.
My optimism level has shot up two notches knowing that we now have a forward who, apparently, can hold up a ball well.
A real biggie for me – and should bring the best out of Loft.
Well. That’s the theory, anyhow.July 23, 2021 at 7:02 pm #210828Now the time has come to get some forwards through the other door.

July 23, 2021 at 7:10 pm #210829Tyrone as certainly got is fair share of lugholes, should be very quick with the wind behind him.😂
July 23, 2021 at 7:15 pm #210830Sound defence + backup.
Interesting CM but Kenyon must be a leader.
Forward line developing.
GK is an issue. So far, am pleased with how Cox has approached it.
July 23, 2021 at 7:17 pm #210831A new keeper is coming be patient
July 23, 2021 at 8:04 pm #210832Gives us a chance to develop a youngster with a 2 year deal, good idea.

funny thing I thought he looks like George Miller, but he’s 6’1″ so apart from Bunn all our signings are over 6 feet, so no excuse for us being bullied very often, let’s give the lad a fair crack of the whip and playing 2 up top is a must.

He hit the target at least once so he’s a step up from Miller already.
Hopefully the kid from Wigan whose on trial will impress to give us a forward thinking CM and smudgers promised goalkeeper will be competent.
If so then it’s a massive step up from last year.
July 23, 2021 at 9:22 pm #210835By what I’ve seen/told. The two loanee’s coming in are a GK and a winger. If we sign a ball playing central midfielder along with those two loans, we won’t be too far off.
Maybe another striker but with Turan and Jarvis still on the books, I find that highly unlikely.
That Alex Perry is supposed to be a ball playing midfielder. That’s what he was described as at Wigan anyway.
If he plays well again against Hull and we sign him, that would be one player we would desperately need.
Hallam you could easily describe as a ball playing midfielder but it’s whether his body holds up and he plays the games needed to have any kind of impact.
Beestin, Kenyon, Hallam and Pugh. No doubt we need another to add to those.
July 23, 2021 at 10:48 pm #210837Maybe another striker but with Turan and Jarvis still on the books, I find that highly unlikely.
And therein lies the problem.
Unless we can sprinkle fairy dust on them and turn them into footballers! 🧚♂️
July 23, 2021 at 11:18 pm #210839How are we signing players on two year deals? That’s Millen and O’Neill now. I was under the impression the transfer embargo restricted us to signing free agents on one year deals only?
July 24, 2021 at 1:04 am #210843Great news with these signings, hope they make a big impression to the team, it is nice to see that they are two attackers, well done Cox.

No it works on a break even basis. Getting rid of all the high wage earners and scrapping the stupid u23 system must have obviously left some money to play with.
I know Cox mentioned he may sign another 6 or 7 players after Thompson came in.
Bunn, O’neil, 2 loanees…still room for another 2 or 3. Maybe a few of the players currently on trial sign. Perry comes with decent pedigree due to the Wigan fans rating him quite highly.
Another striker and a few wide players wouldn’t go amiss. I’ve said all I’ve need to say about Hippolyte. I just don’t rate him at all. I don’t really want us to be relying on him next season.
Bunn, Green, Loan winger and Hippolyte is still a little short in my opinion.
July 24, 2021 at 10:08 am #210847I know how it works. Everything written in the press regarding the embargo suggested we could still assemble a competitive squad of up to 23 professionals who have played at least one league game…as long as they were loans or free agent transfers signed on ONE YEAR DEALS. Clearly not the case if we’ve signed Millen and O’Neill on two year deals.
July 24, 2021 at 10:29 am #210849It could be that players that have not played an efl league game are excluded from the 23 and therefore from the 1 year contract rule.
Millen and O’Neil have not played an efl league game.
July 24, 2021 at 11:16 am #210854That would make sense, only O’Neill has made an appearance for Boro in the Championship.
July 24, 2021 at 12:30 pm #210863Apologies BLT. I thought his solitary appearance was a cup game but just checked and you are correct.
Blows my theory then!
July 24, 2021 at 6:10 pm #210881All Cox said was that as long as we stick to a strict budget on a break even basis then it won’t really effect us.
Cox also stated after Thompson in an interview that we had space for 5 or 6 perm signings if we wanted them.
I don’t know the finer details but seems ok as long as we stick to the parameters of a break even budget system.
