Right, who played yesterday as if they want to play on Tuesday?
Watson, O’Malley, Hippolyte and I’ll include Burns because we still don’t know what he can do if he gets some passes that are more at his level. At least 2 of the CBs will have to play due to lack of alternatives.
Will Hill revert to 4-4-2 and use less than 6 defenders?
Will Kenyon, Green, Millen and Jarvis reappear?
Will Hallam be fit for 90 minutes?
Will Beestin run around enough in training to get a start?
Will we have any incomings?
So we might have:-
Watson
Millen/Matheson, Onariase, Taft, O’Malley
Kenyon
Hippo Beestin
Hallam
Jarvis/New Burns
Or will the Covid/Injury situation peculiar to The Iron dictate otherwise?2 users thanked author for this post.
January 23, 2022 at 11:52 am #230307Will Loft score the winner?
January 23, 2022 at 11:59 am #230310There have been murmurings of a gentlemen’s agreement made with Bristol so that he doesn’t play. Then again, this is Joey Barton we are talking about.

January 23, 2022 at 1:16 pm #230323What ever players are selected for Tuesday, the team will consist of the squad the club have, it is not possible to form any team that is going to win matches.
The damage was done a year ago when Cox was kept on as manager by Swann for another ten months after proving that he was clueless, it is too late to sign any players that can change things, and Swann has no intention of letting Keith Hill do so.Colchester sacked their clueless manager last Wednesday, the result being a 0-3 away win on Saturday, their first win in eight games, Oldham the other team near us in the leaguer, sacked their clueless manager an hour after yesterdays match, now watch them start picking up points!, Swann kept our clueless manager on FOR SOME REASON, now just take a look at the League table and see where it has taken us to!!!!, yes we are 7 points adrift if you take the vast goal difference as an extra point, and we have also played an extra game!, this squad will be luckey to get 7 more points this season, so we are doomed of football league status, just face facts.

It was suggested on here that we should have got this in written into the sale contract hopefully this isn’t where you heard the “murmurings”, if you heard it elsewhere there could be some truth in it.
January 23, 2022 at 1:41 pm #230328The talk on the train home from Mansfield included the last game of the season against Bristol rovers and maybe needing a point to stay up, I believe everyone now in that conversation would snap you hand off for that scenario.
January 23, 2022 at 3:11 pm #230337Beestin needs to play. Kenyon has turned into the disappearing man and if playing a no 10, Hallam has to play over Perry who was absolutely shocking.
Kenyon and Beestin you’d have to say are our 2 best CM players and yet aren’t given minutes. The new RB from Wolves is poor from what he’s shown so far.
Burns you can tell is pretty clever in his movement but players either taken too long to spot him or simply don’t see him at all, a fair few times he’s been in space wide open to pass to but the ball never comes to him.

I really hope that this is not correct Matt, I would have thought that Scunthorpe would have insisted that Loft plays the full 90 mins in the agreement when he signed for them, SUFC should lodge a protest if he is not selected, and should appeal if he is not in their starting eleven.

Isn’t that against league rules? I recall West Brom / West Ham being investigated for not playing Snodgrass after he transferred from one to the other.
Rules state that “no club shall enter into a contract which enables another party to that contract to acquire the ability materially to influence its policies or the performance of its teams in league matches.”
Unless that’s only in the Premier League and doesn’t apply to us.

Just know he will ..its a dead cert

Matheson hasn’t done too bad at all coming into a god awful team… lacks height which isn’t good but has a decent pass and has some pace on him! Rather him over the other RB’s.

January 24, 2022 at 5:23 pm #230414I don’t think they can do gentleman’s agreements anymore, but hope he doesn’t play.
January 24, 2022 at 5:46 pm #230416It must be bad if we’re worrying about getting ripped to pieces by Ryan Loft!

According to the stats sites, his pass completion on Saturday was 45%. 19 passes completed out of 42. In all honesty, I’m surprised it was that high.
January 24, 2022 at 6:44 pm #230421I think the young lad from Wolves deserves the benefit of the doubt, at least for a couple more games.
He has had no mens football for a considerable time and there is certainly some ability there. There is not much in our other right back options. Let him get match fit and judge him then.

January 24, 2022 at 6:46 pm #230422Loft has one decent game in 5 so the odds are good. Sods law says tomorrow will be one of the 5.
If Manny and Taft don’t deal with him then at least we know they are definitely shite.

All in favour of that, I was just surprised/disappointed how out of his depth he looked on Saturday, but good luck to him for the future. Starting tomorrow!

That’s what I was basing my view on, maybe I was bit harsh though due to him not playing much football but he looked miles off it.
I’m unsure whether he’s an upgrade on Millen.

January 24, 2022 at 8:29 pm #230431He is if he’s fit which Millen doesn’t seem to be.

You know what I meant Mr Pedantic. To be a potential upgrade on Millen I was typing as if Millen was fit, kind of a gimme the wolves kid is an upgrade as he’s able to at least run around.
I’ll give me a few more games to get his fitness up. I just hope he improves.
January 24, 2022 at 11:13 pm #230438B Rovers seem to have to been busy in the transfer window .. as do many other clubs , im hoping Loft doesnt play would hate him to play well , score his head wouldnt get through the coach door for the trip back.
Anything but a home win not enough .. Barrow play Salford keep an eye on that one too.

January 25, 2022 at 8:47 pm #230488Half time report: feel sorry for Rory.
January 25, 2022 at 8:49 pm #230490Same old same old. The lads work really hard. Stay in the game. Everything falls apart when we get near their box.
The opposition do feck all much then bang. One piece of attacking quality then it’s probably game over
Happy to be proved wrong in the second half.
Good thing the experience Swann and Cox brought in last Summer are doing so well. Hang on where are Davis, Kenyon and Millen. And would it make a blind bit of difference if they were here?

January 25, 2022 at 10:13 pm #230525Final score Scunny 2 Bristol 3, but it actually really tells a big lie, it could easily have been 0-6 until those last 5 minutes. Two brilliant saves once again by Watson, and many shots from Bristol went inches the wrong side of the Scunny woodwork, but as for work rate, the lads could not be faulted, as said so many times, they are not good enough.
WATSON—8 Another MOM award from myself, and still not been offered a new contract?
MATTERSON—-6–Had a better game than his other two, probably wants match practice.
ONARIASE–5—Forwards just strolled past him, his worse game I have seen him have.
TAFT—5–Far too many stray passes.
O,MALLEY—6—Good first half, must have been injured, why does he not take set plays?
PERRY–4—Not good enough and not involved with play, that is why we have no midfield.
ROWE—4—Also had a very poor game.
WOOD—6—Good play and then poor play, good cross for one of our goals.
BEESTIN–5–Obviously not fit, and too many loose passes to Bristol players.
BURNS—7—Ran his socks off, but not many passes to him, played well though.
HIPPOLYTE—4—Back to his worst again, he should spend a week training at Jacksons
farm, give him a bag of balls and let him take shots at double barn doors
for a full week, give him a bonus every time he hits them!REF—7–Most things right, but cannot see why that penalty was given, the ball was out
of play.MANAGER—7—Did what he could with this squad of players.
SUPPORTERS—9—To sit till the end of that game deserved a refund of sorts, spotted my
old empty season ticket seat, and all of my nearbye friends were also missing, don’t think there were 2,000 home fans present, what will it be like in the Natiobal League??These are my own ratings for the match, and may differ to some others views.

January 25, 2022 at 10:26 pm #230529I’d give Burns 8-9, particularly for his second goal

January 25, 2022 at 10:47 pm #230530Rory played well and Wood for the first half and Burns had a good game but the performance was a shambles after their first goal until injury time, same story of pretty football and then a weak pass to the opposition, but until those 2 goals we never looked like scoring, very disappointing and I think we are certainties for the drop.
