Surprised the lad from South Korea didn’t get a shout out and a walk on the pitch today.

Nice to see them win in front of a big crowd for a big match they normally fail, all is good and should encourage a lot to come back again.

Butterfield’s goal was class, what a player he is and the young lad from Leeds had his best game in an Iron shirt yet IMO. Elliott though was awful and should have been subbed but in truth it wasn’t a great game. It was more about the tremendous atmosphere and passion generated inside the ground, there was a real togetherness in the stadium. Congratulations to the new owner and board and if our club has learned one thing in the last ten years it’s the value of having local owners. It takes a certain type of person to understand what this football club means to this town and its people. No more Swanns or Hilton’s please. UP THE IRON.

Remember we had Dean out and we are still just coming over a turbulent few weeks. Think they did well in the circumstances and a 1-0 win was fair.

Ogle, Jenkins and Butterfield shone. Jenkins was my man of the match. Bennet impressed too and Evans brought some steadiness back to the defence.

My forcast of 2-0 was not correct, but I will gladly accept the 1-0 result the lads obtained, so well done team and management, and of course the 5,000 fans that turned up today, a very good effort by all.

I just hope that the Stadium problem can be sorted out very soon, and the new owner and directors are getting some very welcome resuls in the very short time since they took charge, I have never felt more comportable with the running of ASUFC for many years, and I am so glad to see that my thoughts of a stickey end have come so wrong, so keep up the good work all at the club andf of course on it’s terraces.

Great to see the whole squad on the pitch at the end. See Clunan was missing. He’s been at every game while injured but not there today. As he’s club captain I’m hoping there’s a genuine reason he wasn’t there but can’t help thinking he may have left. Anyone know? Would be a disaster if so as I think our midfield has really missed him.

Clunan has not left , he is still injured but add to that his wife has just given birth, JD commented on this in his last interview before he went in for surgery.

I’d like to see Elliot more central, I fell he’s a bit lost in the wide position in the 4-3-3. I think he’d get back to his best centrally and a couple of goals behind him.

Absolutely agree he doesn’t look confident at all playing wide, second to almost every ball first half, woeful overhit passes throughout the game and his only meaningful contribution was the glancing header that went narrowly wide. He’s a better player then that, we just haven’t seen it enough yet

From an outsider looking in I feel the side needs a bit of physicality about them to challenge for the title but I was looking at an emotional game where there could have been any scoreline yesterday pre match

From what I’ve read we didn’t bring the physicality on till the 73rd minute Whitehall fits that bill BK.

We had 70 minutes of Bennett trying to win the ball followed by 20 minutes of Whitehall ignoring the ball and trying to win free kicks.

Neither did a particularly good job of it and both would benefit from mixing their game up a bit.

All about opinions of course but for me Bennett is a more physical player than Whitehall who seems to try and buy a foul rather than stay on his feet, Bennett certainly better in the air.

Agree IA. Bennett won his fair share of headers yesterday and put 3 or 4 of them into good areas. If Elliott and Wilson had been switched on chances would have resulted.

Biggest problem this team has is that none of our forwards look like they can score 20 goals a season from open play. Dean has the team favouring a pass back to the halfway line rather than hitting a hopeful cross. Not necessarily disagreeing with that tactic but for it to work we need the crosses to be high quality when they do come in. Neither Elliott or Wilson cross the ball well and Ogle/Denton/Kelly don’t either.

Butterfield can deliver but is rarely in a crossing position in open play. We are comfortably the best football team in this league (based on the teams we have played so far) but we create a low number pf chances relative to the football we play.

Fine if you have a Sharpe or Hooper up front but a problem if you don’t.

Roberts might have the quality to make the difference if an when he finally plays but until then I would prefer getting the ball into the box more quickly and more often.

Then we might see what Whitehall, Bennett and Elliott can do.

We’ve got a proven goal scorer in Elliot, unfortunately he’s getting lost out on the left side.

I hope watching the game from home, and a couple of weeks rest and recovery will give Jimmy time to make some slight adjustments.

We aren’t a million away away and fortunately only 2 points of top, but you’re correct MK, we aren’t creating enough at the moment

Elliot was scoring for fun from a wide attacking position so it’s not where he’s being played. Elliot is purely a confidence player so I’d like to think once he get’s another he’ll follow it with a few.

Madden was somewhat similar when he was here. Whitehall is the one that’s disappointed me in recent games. I will however admit that Elliot wasn’t very good against Brackley. I still think to fully finish this squad off we need another CB and a striker.

I’d off load Pugh and somebody else and get in those additional players we need.

We’ve got three strikers in the top ten goal scorers for NLN.

Unfortunately one of them is at Southport!

I wasn’t particularly impressed with the 2 little lads in midfield – they worked hard but didn’t really offer a huge amount going forward. Wilson & Elliott aren’t wingers, we need to find a way to get more out of them because they both have plenty to offer if used in the right way. Based on what I saw on Saturday, I’m surprised Boyce has been the one sitting on the bench all season & not Evans.

Brackley looked decent but they are a bunch of dirty buggers, particularly the big-bearded number 9 who put in a number of snide fouls. Neither he nor the number 5 at the back should have been on the pitch by the end. I was very impressed by their number 4 in midfield, thought he looked a player who should be at a higher level.

Bennett played pretty decent to be honest, whenever he’s come off the bench he’s barely lost a header, also won the free kick which Butterfield scored from.

Boyce isn’t first choice because he is one of our slowest players and is good at winning headers thats it, his ball playing is shocking whereas Evans is much better.

Wilson really needs to pull his finger out can’t remember the last decent game he had
