We are second from bottom, simply because Oldham are actually worse than us, despite a few fans think that things will be ok, our only chance of staying up is if another team get problems as well. It is very early in the season, but once a team starts to fall behind the rest, it really takes some getting out, and we do not appear to have the playing squad or the right type of club management, but presently things look grim, and there has been nothing done to suggest that anything will get better.

I was talking to another three ex-season ticket holders that have sat near me for 13 years, and we all expressed our feelings that the SUFC have not made any contact with any o us to ask why we no longer attend. We all thought it was strange that the club was just happy to lose us regulars without an e-mail or a little note to request if they could do anything to change our minds.

Everyone was telling me a few weeks ago how we had so much team spirit this season and how we wouldn’t fall apart like last time around. I can’t help notice that the arrival of two no-mark loanee midfielders seems to have coincided with our recent defeats and the team seemingly falling apart.

And on top of this, I still only make it two goals from open play so far this season, not a good stat.

IF(?) the two MF loanees are guaranteed a start under the terms of their loan then little wonder if there is some resentment, where’s the incentive to perform under those circumstances.
BTW there was an article on the OWS when they signed with Cox declaring they were not automatic selections but that seems to have been removed – because it wasn’t true maybe? Possibly, at that time, Cox hadn’t been told they had to play, just speculation of course but, no doubt, all will become clear.

Lots of higher clubs offer these loanees on play or pay, they pay their wages only if they play and the recipient club pays if they don’t.

Re: relegation this season: The jury is out as it is a little too early to call it. That said, the signs are not good, and we seem to be going backwards both on and off the pitch.

Swann and co. have a lot to answer for.

With such a young team and especially after last season it was imperative we got off to a good start. After last season’s dismal runs I have no confidence in Cox to be able to turn it around, his motivational post match bollockings- whilst showing at least he cares- often failed to our form around.

Most importantly I just don’t think we have enough quality to get 2/3 wins on the bounce or sustain any meaningful form. Tranmere aside, we are almost always the second best team on the pitch.

If we end up adrift early doors that will be curtains on 72 years of Football league history.

And does anyone, hand on heart, think we’ll ever get back into the league, given a management who appear clueless, and a chairman who apparently no longer cares?

We may well have both those things.

But we are not out of the league, yet!

There is still time to act, but only if guilt is admitted.

I’m not sure it will be.

Clueless management can be changed easily (in comparison to the others), but the chairman and low crowds would make it very difficult – it’s difficult to see us dealing with relegation any better than York City, Stockport County, Torquay United, Wrexham, etc

I can see us bouncing back in time but it could be a long haul. It took Barrow 48 years. One things for sure, it won’t be under the present regime

I never thought I’d be jealous of the Cods but looking at their packed ground, exciting football (John McAtee at the heart of everything!), new owners and new catering, there is clearly a lot to be envious of when it comes to our fishy friends down the A180.

I am not envious of Grimsby Town. John McAtee – perhaps one day we will find out what went on.

I am appalled at what has happened since 2013 at Scunthorpe United. How people with a plan were shown to be actually devoid of one. Then to maintain what someone called a gamble that didn’t quite work out !! Actually showed what poor gamblers they [ THE CLUB] were and then we got the news that ‘THE’ Club had run up debts of over £11 million pounds.

That recruitment over last 5 years is akin to the tactics of ‘KERPLUNK’ !!

That’s because our fishy friends are now owned by people who care more about the football club than they do about the land it sits on.

Don’t forget the Cods had a chairman with a similar popularity rating as ours for the last 16 years before the new guys took over.

Did the owners care about football when we finished 2nd, 16th, 7th, 3rd and 5th?

Good luck to the Cods, we got promoted too after our last change of ownership.

Jeez, was it as long as that?
I remember the shock when they and Bradford PA went.
    Most teams just got re-election.
Weren’t Wigan one of the newcomers?

    Oh Billy bullshit.
Second was with a team Swann inherited.
What ACTUAL successes have we had with this turd in charge?
And more to the point, what has improved?

Team Swann inherited? I think you need to actually look at facts before spouting the usual shite, Winnall, Madden, Hayes, Dawson, Sparrow etc were most certainly not ‘inherited’.

As for what actual successes, challenging for promotion to the championship is near enough as good as it gets for SUFC, bar our ‘golden’ period where we actually achieved it.

I remember at the time telling posters to enjoy it because nothing lasts forever. Historically we are a league 2 club, although there are now much bigger clubs in the national league than we will ever be!

Come of it UTI99. The few seasons of relative success in league 1 have come at a great cost that we are paying for now. The club has been disgracefully miss-managed by your masters

So when they splash the cash (which gets us in debt) they care, but when they try to make the club sustainable they don’t?

Lets all stop moaning because 6 or 7 years ago we had a decent team.

Let’s treat the last 3 seasons and this season of total shite as a bit of a blip and be thankful to the great lord and master.

Open your eyes you fecking idiot. Did you watch the game last Saturday?

The past has gone, we are one point from the bottom of the pile and you think we should be having a party.

Forgot to add if he had splashed his own cash and not seized the clubs assets to cover it he might be viewed a bit more sympathetically.

There isn’t much sustainable about removing all the assets of the club to clear the debt the owner spent to then add more debt via an EFL loan which severely cripples the clubs chances of survival.

Also employing an infant as head of recruitment isn’t being sustainable

Having owners who care not a jot about fans or their experience isn’t sustainable

In fact I cannot see anything linked to Swann or the club at the minute as anything like approaching sustainable

    Does he even visit anymore?

Do you mean 3 years ago?

Of course the last few seasons have been tough, what did you expect? We’ve had to let our high earners go to fit a sustainable model that so many of you wanted.

As for this season, we’re 7 games into it. Maybe people should try turning up and getting behind the team, it might have a positive impact on their performances!

    True.
but we have gone from one extreme to the other over the last 3 and a bit seasons, the Chairman disappears from the media and I haven’t seen him about at home games either, so don’t know if he comes to games or not.

but it doesn’t matter how much you dress it up UTI99 the club is a shambles, we haven’t scored more than one goal in a game in the last 14 games, we were promised attacking football this season but do to our usual injuries we have been playing with 5 at the back and our best young prospects either unused subs or not in the squad, yet loanees don’t seem to be of the quality of other clubs in the divisions loanees.

hence after a 4 game unbeaten run we leave our young guns out who had beat Tranmere to put players in the team who haven’t exactly set the place alight and we then play another midfielder out of position and leave our biggest goal threat on the bench and play a loan striker upfront who is 6 inches smaller than their central defence and again for around the 10th time this year we haven’t had a shot on target.
