watched along with the ironarmy ppl last night so a lay in this morning as with extra time n pens was 4am here.
Sounded like a pretty tight torrid game.

As for Saturday expecting a close hard fought affair, IMO Boston will be knackered from last night and come sit in and try to hit us on the break for a 1-0 win or another even penalty shoot out .. massive who scores first.
Did JD go to the game last night ? Are the Iron practicing pens in training this week ?
No stupid mistakes at the back gifting goals.
ATTACK from the KO and go for it the whole 90 mins not only 45 as has happened so many times already this season.

Bit early but what would your starting 11 n bench be ? ..

    Fitz

    Ogle
    Kouogun
    Boyce or Evans
    ? left back ?

    Clunan
    Scales
    Butterfield
    Roberts
    Corbett

    Whitehall

Bench Law Elliot Mcalinden Barrows DFS

I think Beestin will play but hopefully not at left back.

McAlinden will play their I expect. Scales will likely be the one to make way for Beestin. It would be Clunan if I was picking the team.

MKI … I was torn between Beestin and Law / Scales so if Mcalinden plays left back add Beestin to my bench or start Beestin for ???? … some tough decisions for JD knowing honestly his job is on the line over the next 1 possibly 2 fixtures.

Depends if we’re talking the team we think Jimmy will pick or the team I would pick.

    I would go for:

    Fitzsimons
    Ogle Kouogan Evans McAlinden
    Butterfield Beestin Scales
    Roberts Whitehall Elliott

Elliott is not a natural wide forward but he is mobile and a constant threat. Jai Rowe is a decent full back (one of Boston”s best players last night) but not so good against bigger guys with a bit of physicality. When attacking I would see Elliott moving inside to play off Whitehall with McAlinden providing width on the left.

Boston lost one of their regular centre backs last night with a head injury so he will be out due to concussion protocol. A weakness to exploit with 2 up front when attacking.

We don’t need 4 at the back against a side with a very cautious approach unless they fall behind (based on the evidence of our 2 games against them and last night against Alfreton. I would want our full backs high and wide when we have the ball. Boston dominated the ball last night particularly in the first half but were very reluctant to support their front men.

I would play Scales before Clunan because he offers greater mobility and consistency.

I would play Evans before Boyce because he is a better passer of the ball than Boyce (and the rest of our defenders).

Delighted anti football didn’t win last night. A decent referee (for this level) stamped straight down on the petty niggling fouls that Alfreton (and the Curzon Ashton’s, the Buxton’s and even the Chorley and Tamworth’s) make such an important part of their game. Without getting away with the dark arts they created little and pretty much relied on their 40 or so long throws.

I think Whitehall does need someone playing off him, as he has a brilliant touch and a very smart brain and can really do a fantastic job when ‘playing people in’… but Elliott? This hasn’t worked this season.

Beestin best role is behind the striker not out on the wings so it maybe him or Scales as the choice

In both games against Boston they looked more likely to win than us, both games we went to defensive, probably the best opening first 30 mins I’ve seen us play at home but walked away feeling grateful we’d got a point that’s not right.
Boston should be well tired now this will be their 4th away game on the trot in 2 weeks, extra time as well last night, all that traveling should take a toll on them I just want to see us play at pace and intensity for the whole game not just for half the game.
Got to give it to Boston though, on Saturday they weren’t even in a playoff spot at half time but with all that pressure they came through roll on Saturday.

Some of our players even had last Saturday off so I would be disappointed if we were treated yet again to slow and laboured build up allowing them to walk back into defence.

No subs until too late to influence in the second half. Overly cautious, few chances all game. Rubbish in the biggest game of the season.

Looked like we played 120mins mid-week, not them. Half arsed end of season nothing to play for feel, the whole match.

So they’ve won the quarters and semi’s without needing to score a goal. Do you think they will win the final the same way ?

To frightened to win never upped the pace same old same old never got enough shots away, shite ref again defo should have had a penalty but we should know by now
we cant rely on them. So much for finishing second what did that achieve us.
Nothing else but top spot will do next season should have double the biggest budget of anyone else, no upevils no excuses.

Supposedly largest budget but what a woeful team.
They had subs to make a change/impact.
    What did we have.

Was straight in front of us Deerey deffo for me,
Agreed RB worst bench we’ve put out in a long while. When I saw it I thought Langley must be coming on for the penalties if it went that far.

They must of been rubbing their hands at 1/2 the way we were playing. Too easy for them, lumping it up to that lame so called striker whom they had in his pocket.
Spends more time on the grass wriggling around than actually trying to win a header.
Absolutely embarrassing watching him in an Iron shirt tbh.
