Yet more essential worker’s planning strikes and Sunak’s answer is to get under trained soldiers to try and cover it. What a pathetic solution. They’re Home Office staff. Why doesn’t a cabinet minister sit down with union officials and try and resolve it properly instead of sticking to their paltry 2% offer? How many more strikes across numerous industries is it going to take before the government recognise essential worker worth? Or will they keep ignoring it and trying to turn the public on strikers, until they’re out of power come the next election? The christmas lights on that magic money tree seem to be on a very convenient timer – on when it suits, off when it doesn’t, in the pursuit of austerity measures pursued out of choice, not necessity.
The propaganda machine of painting the unions as the unreasonable bad guys is well under way but the government should watch out, the number of workers taking action is growing daily and a lot of them are in occupations very much loved by the public. Necessary public service jobs have been treated appallingly by government for a long time now, patience is wearing thin with this government which has a new PM but he is beginning to speak the rhetoric of previous Tory governments. There is going to be trouble no matter how much Rishi threatens, people have had enough of being treated like shit.
Those on the right have been showing their respect for essential workers for years. Lest we forget…
