Clueless, absolutely no threat in second half, result was inevitable with no KVV.
Cox is a dead loss and is tactically inept.November 24, 2020 at 8:57 pm #198049Did we really make a substitution whilst Fela was feeling an injury ? Timing seemed odd to me. Not that I think it made any difference. Anyway at least we had A shot on target.
November 24, 2020 at 8:58 pm #198050I always used to look at teams at the bottom end of league 2 and think jeez how bad must they be…
Bloody useless
November 24, 2020 at 8:59 pm #198051Another toothless display up front. Never looked like scoring
November 24, 2020 at 9:01 pm #198052Eisa is very lightweight, lost count how many times he was brushed off the ball with ease. If he can’t cut in on his right foot he tie’s himself in knots.
November 24, 2020 at 9:03 pm #198053Really disappointing second half, completely nullified and boring to watch.
Again, 60 minutes before an opposition keeper makes a save- it’s too easy being an away keeper at the moment.
Cox has pulled off some good results during the last week but still as an attacking outfit, without Van Veen, we are toothless.
Needs to improve.
November 24, 2020 at 9:04 pm #198054Woeful up front. You can launch all our strikers we have on the books on the pitch and it won’t make any odds No KVV we are rudderless up top.
So as was pointed out we’ve loads of strikers.
Any good ones???November 24, 2020 at 9:04 pm #198055All this raving about 7 from 9 points before tonight, well its 1 from two home games now and that’s shocking.
Cox is clueless why mess with a formation that’s working absolute crap for a home game?
We also have NO threat up front.Cox has a lot to answer for.
November 24, 2020 at 9:05 pm #198056Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic. Cox the main problem tonight in dropping a formation that has seen our only decent performances this season. At least we now know it’s his shite formations and tactics that are more to blame rather than no experience or Watson in goal.
November 24, 2020 at 9:06 pm #198057So has the person that drafted in the raft of so called strikers.
November 24, 2020 at 9:22 pm #198060Totally inept and clueless, why change a winning formation and team,we have the best right winger on the league and he is playing right back that cannot be right let teams worry about us,slowly losing confidence we have nothing going forward other teams seem to find us easy to play against, please please can we play to our strength bloody 442
November 24, 2020 at 9:22 pm #198061Groundhog Day, nearly every home game this season we have had one shot on target, we have just had a three game unbeaten run when we have played a proper right back, tonight we played either Green or Gillihead there one as a wing back and three central defenders and we turn in another poor performance, we have had 17 games up to now and scored 12 goals with only one game when we have scored two, so Neil Cox this isn’t good enough and you can only see one outcome and that is relegation.
November 24, 2020 at 9:24 pm #198062Cox on the radio, he’s in complete denial, really iss out of his depth.
November 24, 2020 at 9:26 pm #198063Yes let’s blame Swanny. He must have told Coxy how to set up and play tonight.
November 24, 2020 at 9:31 pm #198064Our style of play has Russ written all over it.
November 24, 2020 at 9:46 pm #198065In Cox we wanted and trusted with the added bonus of Lillis in there as well.
November 24, 2020 at 9:51 pm #198067Well everyone on here called it before the ball was kicked, and I got 12 prediction league points!
It’s so bleeding obvious a five year old can see it yet somehow the club don’t.
As above – no Kev, no threat! No game changers on the bench. A summer transfer window conducted by agents and businessmen.
Swiss Toni and Alan Sugar… “Signing a player is very much like making love to a beautiful woman….!”
November 24, 2020 at 9:58 pm #198068In Cox we wanted and trusted with the added bonus of Lillis in there as well.
but Neil promised 4 4 2 and attacking entertaining football, but 0 out of 3 isn’t bad.
November 24, 2020 at 9:59 pm #198070When are going to let the other team worry about us
November 24, 2020 at 10:03 pm #198071There’s no need for them to worry if van Veen’s not in the lineup.
November 24, 2020 at 10:19 pm #198075He only said we would play 442 attacking and entertaining football after he had signed for us Mick. Any idea why scunny fans have a fixation with inbreeding when if we’re honest we know it’s wrong, but still we need to give him 2 full seasons now we have him we’ve sacked enough already.
November 24, 2020 at 11:23 pm #198077I don’t see many clamouring for him to be sacked, just to wake up and smell the coffee!
But I guess you can’t make cup of expresso when all you’ve got is a jar of instant!
November 25, 2020 at 12:18 am #198081There’s been many things to blame….players injured, no experience e.t.c
Tonight though was purely Cox’s fault…changed the formation, to a formation which didn’t work last time.
According the Cox he changed because Bolton have a lot of the ball at the back so wanted our front 3 to go up against their back 3.
The one big problem is, is that if your playing a formation which severely isolates your striker and the ball keeps coming back, what advantage are you gaining ?
Any manager with any ounce of tactical nous would have seen the problem, especially early in the second half and changed it…plain as day a goal was coming.
I was screaming 4/3/1/2 to match their 3 in midfield and at least offer some kind of threat with 2 strikers upfront and 1 in behind to get on the ball but nothing really happened.
Even when he made changes they didn’t really add up.
Going by this evidence, it’s crystal clear Cox’s isn’t/wont be good enough.
Eisa is pissing me off as well….does he not realise that if he keeps coming inside and getting no joy that it’s best to try a different approach ?
Somebody needs to read him the riot act and drum it into his head to actually attack on the outside of his man.
If he can’t alter his game to compensate the changes needed, I’d be tempted to move him on…get some money for him and get somebody in who actually does both.
Eisa seemingly has 1 way of playing, as he’s easily shackled now.
I do however look at Hippolyte and wonder if we’re even capable of spotting a good winger.
All the progress we made as well and Cox goes and does that.
November 25, 2020 at 11:26 am #198094A frustrating night and the game was a hard watch.
Last night we were shown what the difference is between a top 4/5 side and a bottom 4/5 side.
Our problems stem from the sacking of Graham Alexander, and since then the club has dropped like a burning moth from a hot lightbulb. This mistake was then compounded by sacking both McCall and Hurst much too early. There’s a common denominator here, of course.
At present I fear the club is locked in a battle to survive both on and off the park. There’s an end to the pandemic in sight, but when will the end to this awful downward spiral come?
I don’t see the point in slating Cox or the players. Yes Cox messed up with the formation last night but we’d have lost however we set up, as Bolton are miles better as a team, and in every area on the park. I actually felt we really matched up quite well in the first half once we got a foot on the ball and arguably we had the two clearest chances. We do seem to be dreadful after re-starts though so whatever is going on at half time needs looking at again. We just didn’t really turn up or the second half.
The squad is very thin and if any of Gillead, KVV and Eisa are missing, we really struggle. Several of our players have given their all over the last ten days and last night was a bridge too far.
I like the way Cox has instilled a team spirit and a willingness to work and battle. There’s enough dung in this league that we shouldn’t be worrying about survival, but anything more than lower mid table is ambitious for this campaign.
I hope the players are able to recover and van Veen is back for next week against Harrogate which will be another hard game. Hopefully that’s the last we’ll see of a 3-4-3 with this limited group of players.
November 25, 2020 at 11:30 am #198095Worse squad ever in my sixty years as a supporter, even Ron Ashmans teams put the effort in. Shame on you swan for employing the most inept group of players and coaches Scunthorpe United have ever had. Not sure I can do it any longer.
November 25, 2020 at 2:13 pm #198102I’m not sure why everyone is getting so vexed over last nights performance. I have given up criticising and complaining about this squad, and feel last nights match was a fare reflection as to the quality, commitment, and depth of the current squad.
We all know that there’s not enough quality, depth, or experience in the squad, and no amount of keyboard rage will fix that!! A few key injuries or suspensions and we will struggle. If we have everyone available for most of the season we should be looking at a mid-table finish, maybe even sneak into 10th place. If we are dogged by persistent injuries, suspensions etc. then it’ll be a real slog to maintain our league position however, I think we’ll have “just enough” in the squad to avoid the dreaded drop.
That said, I actually enjoyed watching the match last night. The off-the-ball movement of Bolton was top-notch, and not something you’ll see often in League Two. Cox and the team should spend some time reviewing that video so they can learn the importance what you do without the ball.
November 25, 2020 at 2:36 pm #198106Your not thinking of doing anything stupid j charles, it’s only a game.
November 25, 2020 at 4:32 pm #198117This mistake was then compounded by sacking both McCall and Hurst much too early
Got a text from my Bantam mate on Saturday night…
“Do you want Stuart McCall back? Please!!!”
Last night I got…
“Tell us how you got rid of McCall. He’s got to go!”
And this guy is a Bradford legend.
As for Hurst – well we all know the rumours.
November 25, 2020 at 4:40 pm #198124No awaywego, it’s bad but not that bad. But if I had been that poor in my job I wouldn’t of lasted long. I think a lot of today’s footballers believe the world owes them a living. And how some of these so called coaches ever find work is beyond me.
November 25, 2020 at 6:18 pm #198133Good assessment from Jon B
The constant calling for a managers head is nearly as tiring as watching us perform on the pitch.
