“I’ll definitely score goals and I’m not one to shy away from that. I like the pressure and I have a lot of confidence in my own ability as well as the environment to help the club win football matches.”

Still full of blather I see!

Always could talk a better game than he was capable of playing.

    I feel for Oldham.

Another one that left because of abuse from so called fans.

All of it well deserved, see MK Iron above for the reason why!!
    Not a pleasant individual IMO.

Awaywego, have never abused an Iron player in my 50 odd years of watching but Mr Grant probably got me as close as anyone.
Can I now call him a w4nker as he doesn’t play for us anymore?

Another one that left because of abuse from so called fans.

In this particular case I believe the fans received more abuse from Mr G than vice-versa.

But hey, if you have preconceptions you might as well use them!

Course you can call him MK he’s been left long enough now, it’s not down to me who you call,Its amazing the indignation that fans have when it’s the other way round.Ironawe seemed more upset at what the groundsman said than what was said to olimola.

Just so I’m clear on this – if a player is cr4p (and we’ve had a few lately) and I shout “******* you’re cr4p” is that abuse or a statement of fact?

Racial abuse is never OK in life not just in football.

My claim to have never abused an Iron player got me thinking – surely someone must have done something sufficiently stupid enough for me to hurl abuse at them in all these years.

My thoughts took me back to Altrincham in December 1980. In the last minute Iron goalkeeper Joe Neenan knees their centre forward in the nuts, gives away a penalty and gets sent off. We lose the game and miss out on a FA cup third round tie at Anfield.

I think I may have tossed a bit of foul and abusive language in Joe’s direction.

Interesting link I found when I googled for the date (3 or 4 letters down the page):

Cass course it’s not abuse more a scolding and so long as you can move on from that and not hold a grudge seems fine to me call a spade a spade. It’s when fans get on to players for indiscretions from week’s before. But still no one has said what Grant had done that was so bad.

So you don’t remember the interview when he slagged off the club?

He behaved like a prat on the pitch, I remember him twice getting himself sent off in the first half of a game completely needlessly.

He would almost always shoot rather than pass to a team mate and didn’t mind a dive either.

He basically didn’t cover himself in glory in an Iron shirt and then told SUFC fans that it was our fault. I agree that our fans can be idiots at times and far too harsh on some players (that “woooosh” for Jamie McCombe was a real low point) but I thought Grant was given enough of a chance by the crowd.

That ” woooosh ” was a throw back to the John Bramhall days, now he was a proper ” woooosh “, McCombe was merely a pretender to John Bramhall’s throne when it came to ” wooooshing “.

“Amazing the indignation that the fans have when it’s the other way round” NI. Pot kettle black, and double standards come to mind.

    Like it, NI!
