So, you bluff and barge your way in to 7th place… 18 points behind the league runners up.
You’ve got to be in it (play-offs) to win it – and anyone can!
Football promotions should be meritorious over the course of the season… else what’s the point?
May as well settle it with a game of Top Trumps in the Jokers Arms!
Here are our games played to date against teams occupying places 3rd to 7th in the league:
P7 W3 D1 L3 GF 9 GA 7
Iron 4-1 Scarborough
Chester 2-0 Iron
Brackley 2-0 Iron
Iron 1-0 Brackley
Chorley 1-1 Iron
Iron 3-0 Chorley
Curzon 1-0 Iron
It’s a lottery!
At the moment, you’d hope to meet Chorley in the SF.
Positive note is that we will probably have Roberts back.
How we are playing, we won’t bluff our way through the play offs.
I tend to agree which is the sad part of it all. Upside is we’ll have Roberts and Law back but even then it’s far too negative.
We top the current (last 4 games) form league.
Will we prevail?
Whom do you see as the finalists?
Semis I’m going:
Iron v Boston
Brackley v Alfreton
Come on Rene your more intelligent than that, how the hell do you get both Boston and Alfreton in 6th and 4th respectably.
Eliminator A – 5th place vs 6th place
Eliminator B – 4th place vs 7th place
Semi-Final – 2nd place vs winner of Eliminator A
Semi-Final – 3rd place vs winner of Eliminator B
Promotion Final – winners of the semis contest.
Guess I’m now saying:
EA – Alfreton (5th) to beat Curzon 6th
EB – Spennymoor (7th) to beat Chorley (4th)
SF1 – Iron v Alfreton
SF2 – Brackley v Spennymoor
Final – Iron v Spennymoor
That 7th placed spot will possibly go down to the 90th plus X minutes of injury time.
