I knew yesterday, one of Trinity’s coaching staff lives near me and I joked to him that Bish would make them a good manager and he told me he was going to be announced today, a good choice and I wish him well.

Never quite understood the love for Bishop, always thought he was a modest midfielder who did ok but no better. What have I missed?

if we had Bishop and Dawson in midfield this last season and a decent striker we might have stayed up.

    Bishop positives?
Arguably the best defensive CM I’ve seen for the Iron.
    1) Nearly as good as Ticker Taylor at winning a ball without making a tackle. His timing at stealing-ball was superb.
    2) When tackles were needed, the timing there was top notch.
    3) He rarely wasted a ball.
    4) He showed generalship – lifted those around him.
    5) His reading of a game was coolness and intelligence combined.
    6) His covering in front of our box was terrific.

I used to spend large portions of a match just watching what he was doing. I probably gave him our MOTM in 50% of the games played.
Only once saw him play a stinker and, if memory serves, could it have been against Wigan at GP?

A gem! But we got rid just at the right time, TBH. He played okay at Mansfield but he aged at Field Mill.

There are LOTS of players from our past who that applies to!

Happy to take all your points aside perhaps from 3), from what I saw of him his passing was pretty limited to say the least. His movement off the ball was good though and under-rated in terms of breaking forwards.

I don’t think you can underestimate his ability to break up opposition play, leadership qualities and vast experience at lower levels. Not pretty but a vital part of any squad looking for success. Proper midfield general. A rare breed.

Bit of an unsung hero Bish, agree with a lot of what les said and while the fans were falling over themselves fawning over our strikers, Bish just went about his business in a real professional way.
