Iron Bru › Forums › Blast Furnace › Big day today for Southend.
Back in court today for yet another winding up order courtesy of HMRC.
Lost count of how many times this has happened.
Only 14 players on the books, some staff not been paid for 4 months, water disconnected at their training ground due to unpaid bills.
I can’t see them starting the season.
Got to feel for their supporters.
This is a perfect example of why charlatans should never be allowed to own a football club.
Morecambe, Wigan and Reading in dire positions too. Is the football bubble starting to burst?
Feel for their supporters.
A bloke in a pub in Ashby was telling me a guy from Portugal was bailing them out!

A guy works down the chip shop swears he’s Elvis but he’s a liar and I’m not sure about you 😎🎸

Not sure if the bubble is bursting, each of those clubs has had very dubious ownership – we have to look at who we are allowing to take over our football clubs and frankly overhaul the whole “rich sugardaddy” model which has brought us so many problems.

If it was the Tavern it’s probably someone on here!
We should be looking at anyone who wants to takeover a football club and put them in a loony bin. Obviously other than a longtime fan of a club.
Down to the National league now to decide their fate surely they can’t let them start the season with the winding up petition still hanging over them. Or maybe we can all chip in to pay their tax bill and pay their running costs for the coming season.
Terms of sale £4,5 million for the ground short term cash required £1 million plus another £1,5 Balance of debts not forgetting £1 for 70.6% of the parent clubs shareholding so anybody out there got a spare £7,000,001?
Tch! That’s Essex prices for you.
Not bad though they paid £4,5 million for the ground 25 years ago.
Was led to believe there was a meeting yesterday of the national league, doesn’t seem to have happened for whatever reason.
