Looks like the brewery in trouble. Will it actually reopen?

Interesting article on Sam Smith’s Brewery in The Times last weekend:

The beer baron recluse and the trouble brewing for Sam Smith pubs https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/the-beer-baron-recluse-and-the-trouble-brewing-for-sam-smith-pubs-g8qnxnhhx

I was always amazed, pre-Covid and even later, how little they charged for a pint of my favourite ..Dark Mild. Wondered how on earth it could be profitable. I was a bit surprised by how much it had gone up in more recent days ..but seemed more realistic. I hope the Brewery survives ..along with the Berkeley and the Emmotts Arms at Rawdon near me ..and I won’t lose my couple of pints of Dark Mild.

Some would claim that if mild was £1.50 a pint it would be overpriced by £2, I couldn’t possibly comment.

More like Minnie Caldwell, who also happened to be a Hullensian. :-)

Martha Longhurst died in The Snug at the Rovers back in 1964 but it was Milk Stout that did for her not Newton and Ridley’s excellent mild.

Indeed, but hardly a difference between milk stout and dark mild IMO.

Didn’t Minnie enjoy a port and lemon occasionally?
