Same firm as a pub in my town I think. Can’t be any more than 2.50.

    £2.50????

    I’m guessing that’s for a half?

In the bar my lad manages in Newcastle’s Bigg Market it’s £5.50 for a pint of Madri (which despite the name is brewed in Tadcaster).

In our village pub it’s £4.20 same as the beers.

When I started drinking it was 1/11 in the Royal! 1/10 for Barnsley Bitter!

Seems like a million years ago.

Ah, the itinerant seafood salesman in his white coat and wicker basket.

In the late 70s we used to frequent an old pub in Newcastle. A bit of a dive but it served a great pint of draught Bass!

The gents was in a courtyard at the back and was basically a half-tiled wall with an open trough at the bottom. The trough often got blocked with puke, chewing gum or fag ends and when it did the floor was covered in a half-inch of piss!

One night when I had to pay a visit and ended up trying to pee on tiptoes so my trainers didn’t turn yellow the seafood guy comes in and plonks his basket of goodies on the floor before relieving himself!

Needless to say that put me off buying prawns, shrimps or crab sticks ever again.

Quite enjoyed the old jar of cockles with a beer in my youth, mind you I would have had a few beers first but the sea food vinegary taste just seemed to work late on in the pub. Then off to the chippy for fish, chips and mushy peas in a take out. Bloody hell the stuff you could shift as a youth and not put on a bloody ounce, sadly gone forever.

Might have given them a richer flavour NI.

Always preferred Chinese chips and curry sauce after the pub. Or half chips / have egg fried rice. Get in!!!!!
