Funny how the Conservative politicians who berate the ‘left wing bias’ of the BBC, calling for balanced news, always seem to push for bias in their favour. Now via corruption.

It’s a grind keeping up with yet more sleaze. As you’ve eluded to on the other thread, it’s tiresome having to keep up with it. And I know there’s probably more we don’t know about yet.

I find it amusing when you see how quickly they dumped Maitliss for putting it out as it was ,they also dumped a comedy programme that was left leaning purely for political reasons.
Remember being left wing is wanting a more equal and fair word at it’s core, who thinks that is a bad thing?

There are many leftists whose actions betray that.

I don’t want the news to have an overly left bias. The issue is that the right assign an overly simplistic narrative of a leftist BBC, as this contradicts.

The BBC seems neutral enough to me and the government of the day certainly gets plenty of air and screen time to put its points across. Of course they should be challenged in interviews on details of their policies, that’s how democracy works and we have plenty of examples around the world of countries who don’t allow their views to be challenged. Trade unions and people disagreeing with the government should also be allowed their point of view on air but what we don’t want is the BBC turning into a version of GB News or Talk Radio just because the government don’t like being asked searching questions or held to account.

“Remember being left wing is wanting a more equal and fair word at it’s core, who thinks that is a bad thing?”

An absolutely typical and ridiculous comment. A great example of self-righteous “I’m better than you because I’m a socialist” twaddle.

As for the BBC, it’s meant to be the BRITISH Broadcasting Corporation but might as well be called the EU Broadcasting Corporation. Regarding bias, I think both the left and the right have a case against it. All it needs to do is report the truth but instead we get the views of its so-called “experts”.

None of this would really matter if it wasn’t funded through a compulsory tax. Whatever anyone’s views might be about other channels they don’t force you to pay to watch them (even Channel 4, although that’s still public money).

Those who rally against the BBC usually prefer some unevidenced crank, like Neil Oliver, rabbiting away. The BBC isn’t without its problems, but it’s damn better than the ‘expertise’ many critics want.

No it isn’t. For somebody so full of their self importance you really should know your facts. Though clearly not required to be a Tory.

    As informed as Dozy Dorries.

    Bucks’ offerings of the day…

Biden is as bad than Trump. Labour are as bad as The Tories. EU is as bad as UK.

Bit of a pattern forming don’t you think?

BTW you missed Hardy us as bad as Swann. Which would have been the only statement worthy of attention!

Last time I looked Channel 4 was set up, i.e. funded, and owned by the state, Heath, in fact by Margaret Thatcher. I did point out that they don’t force you to pay to watch them.

Or maybe the channel’s been privatised and you’re the only one aware of this?

Well you’re wrong then aren’t you. It’s state owned but privately funded by ads. It’s not public funded as you claimed

Er, no, Deerey, I think you’ll find I said that Channel 4 is public money, which it is. Just because that money comes from (mainly) the private sector doesn’t make it a private enterprise. In the past Channel 4 was looking for a government bailout and I believe the possibility of taking money from the BBC licence was even discussed.

As to how Channel 4 is funded, its revenue does, indeed, come through advertising, which is why I said “they [Channel 4) don’t force you to pay to watch them”.

Either way, Channel 4 is very much public money.

It is self funded. Even if you are right, so what?

Anyone who thinks the BBC isn’t value for money is clearly bonkers?

Plenty of Farage TV and other channels to satisfy your Tory fetishism.

‘Last time I looked Channel 4 was set up, i.e. funded, and owned by the state, ‘

Lol, Just admit you got it a bit wrong Bucks. Public money isn’t money from ads and commercial enterprise is it? In my line of work when I’m listing private and public income, ads and sponsorship is always declared as private.

There’s no shame in being wrong. Just like there’s no shame in lambasting all those that dare criticise Swann for all those years, twisting their arguments and trying to make out they had a hidden agenda and merely hate business people.

I believe that BBC News is left wing bias, as Tory bashing has been their way for as long as I can remember. I have to admit that I avoid this crap by simply not watching anymore. In fact I don’t bother with msm news anymore, so if it has changed since the Blair years, please let me know.

Thank you, I anticipate all manor of link requests and other such crap from the usual suspects. I will not reply, as I am the one asking the question here… LK

So you are really not up to date or properly informed because you choose not to watch. Guess your posts on the subject mean nowt and are meaningless then. Fair enough, move on.

How the hell can you comment on BBC bias if you don’t watch it?

Reminds me of those old boys back in the 70s. Wouldn’t go to an Indian restaurant because they weren’t eating “that foreign muck” Even though they’d never tried it!

The BBC hammer all administrations if they fall short, and so they should. The Blair government was remorselessly challenged when appropriate, Harold Wilson hated the BBC.
It’s just that this present administration is notoriously thin skinned. It would really like to fully control the BBC.
    Very Putinesque.
