October 28, 2022 at 11:05 pm #247790Disappointing we can’t hold a lead- again- but sounded like a decent 2nd half and a point was a fair result.
Looked to be ugly scenes with Nuttall at the end aswell. From what’s been said it seems like some supporters were targeting him for abuse and he’s over reacted.
He shouldn’t be giving fans the middle finger but some of our supporters really need to give their heads a wobble if they think abusing our top scorer- whom has played well in the majority of games- is going to solve anything.

October 29, 2022 at 6:26 am #247798decent point ..but yet again cant hold on to a lead … then scoring within 2 mins is abit of a shocker , did the boys switch off or change formation ??
we could well be back in the bottom 4 after todays fixtures are completed.
any news on Nuttal issue at the end of the game ? if he gets grief he will jump ship in January along with Apter n Butterfield .. that would leave us in a pickle ..

Topics: 80It sounds as if a few fans gave him some ‘stick’ for his miss?
He apparently gave them ‘the bird’ and they (the fans) reacted to it?October 29, 2022 at 9:08 am #247801Do we read anything into the Ntlhe substitution? Could have gone like for like with Taft but decided to move Ogle, move Rowe and bring on Pugh out of position. Mmmmm.
October 29, 2022 at 9:36 am #247805Kgosi was booked then got a talking to by the ref so probably just avoiding him getting sent off.
October 29, 2022 at 9:41 am #247806Really poor from a small section of our travelling numbers last night. Spent most of the game signalling Nuttall out for abuse, “lazy this, shit that”. Nuttall was the first of our players over to the crowd after the game due to being in the vicinity when the full time whistle went.
I will say I wasn’t at the front so couldn’t hear the dialogue but from where I was it seemed one way animosity until eventually Nuttall reacted to something, yes he shouldn’t react and he was way out of order for the one figure gesture last season but he rightly apologised for that and as frustrating as he can be as a player at times (e.g.) I personally think he could use his build / physique better and impose himself better at times against the centre-halves, he didn’t deserve that reaction last night. A small section of the away end created that incident last night, ridiculous.4 users thanked author for this post.
October 29, 2022 at 10:07 am #247810I was at the front and a guy gave him some not very nice abuse and Nuttall told him where to go. Then around 7 or 8 really started on him and accused him of saying he will knife them if he see’s them in the street. I didn’t hear him say that what I did hear was Nuttall getting a hell of a lot of abuse and kept saying “Your supposed to support us” other player’s came over and looked upset by all the abuse that was coming from these fans.Daw’s said he will talk to Joe later. I thought it was unfair the abuse he got but to be fair most of the fans were clapping him and trying to show him support.

October 29, 2022 at 10:22 am #247813Just another thing to thank Swann for. Everything around the club is just so toxic, disharmony everywhere. He has created that culture and environment alongside everything else. A true disgrace of a man.

October 29, 2022 at 10:36 am #247816A very good result last night against a high scoring Barnet. Listened on the radio and we gave a very good account of ourselves. These SO-CALLED fans who were abusing Nuttall need to stop this immediately and support him and the whole team. If they can’t stop this abuse they shouldn’t be attending any more matches.

October 29, 2022 at 10:40 am #247817I say well done to the whole team, including Joe, and to Tony and his assistants for last night’s result! Keep it up lads and we can survive. It should be Swann who the fans should be angry with.

I completely understand the reason for the substitution, that wasn’t the point of my post.
October 29, 2022 at 12:26 pm #247833They are fans not SO CALLEd fans, They just dont like Nuttall for his reaction last season and dont want him ever to put a Scunny shirt on again that’s their opinion whether we like it or not, surely someone last night could have called them out we all have voices “use them”, like I said it’s not just kids one of them who went to south shields was 70 plus he wasn’t going last night but is going to Eastleigh on Tuesday so good luck Joe there, have the players deserved abuse this season? In many games you bet but from reports last night wasn’t one of them.
October 29, 2022 at 12:50 pm #247835There’s a difference between criticism (often justified this season) and abuse which is unnecessary and always unproductive. I’d expect fans to know the difference.

October 29, 2022 at 1:35 pm #247837Strange because the home crowd seem to have been right behind him this year. Is it an away crowd thing where less supporters mean that the morons can have their voices heard without getting hassle ?
October 29, 2022 at 1:39 pm #247838The abuse directed at Nuttall reminds me of years gone past.
Brian Laws was abused by so- called fans earlier in his managerial career ( player manager at the time) at a game at Rochdale. Laws gave these yobs a taste of their own medicine and stood up to the abuse. These so called fans never forgot or moved on ( they continued their abuse of Laws even when the golden years were in full flow!) The old timers on here know who they are ,but their reply now would be “ don’t know what you’re talking about,guv.”2 users thanked author for this post.
October 29, 2022 at 1:55 pm #247839No it’s not an away crowd thing, normally better support than at home. And the Nuttall thing did start at an home game. If I were him I wouldn’t play for us again why take all that crap especially when your wanted elsewhere, bet he regrets turning Oldham down now, but then again he’ll maybe move to an higher league in January of earlier.

The old timers on here know who they are ,but their reply now would be “ don’t know what you’re talking about, guv.”We had that a few years ago. One cretin in the East Stand gave Hurst 90 minutes of hell every home game. Jim Goodwin tried to shut him down but he gradually wore Kevin down and we lost a good player for nothing – destroyed his form and we lost a good sale.
Sometimes players can have off games but they keep trying. I never boo players you gain nothing and cost the team in the long run.

F row crew, and the 2 people who liked the post, should be ashamed.
Swann has a lot to answer for, but blaming him for the (so called) fans behaviour last night is ridiculous.
As recent posts show, this has been going on periodically for many a year.
These people should be identified and banned. It is totally unacceptable.

October 29, 2022 at 3:55 pm #247842The verbal abuse used by these few supporters against Joe should be called out by supporters and stamped out by our Club. The abuse goes beyond acceptable and often is very personal. Whether it be verbal or physical this is not acceptable. We have heard it directed at other players in the past and these ignorant people have done it match after match, often with unacceptable personal language. Anyone going about their daily business would find this unacceptable if it were directed towards themselves.

October 29, 2022 at 4:36 pm #247844And the abuse that is thrown Swannys way?
Isn’t done in his face live is it, there is a difference and don’t say that’s why he doesn’t attend games anymore either.

October 29, 2022 at 4:38 pm #247845Holding a flag aloft with Swann out emblazoned on is ok the same as singing Swann out is ok. Bad personal language is not ok. This is one of the reasons why Swann had so many stewards in front of the home terrace even though he is the invisible man now. I hope these stewards react if there is any abuse towards Joe Nuttall at the next home game.

October 29, 2022 at 4:44 pm #247846You cannot compare the abuse directed towards Joe Nuttall with the anger directed towards Swann who has wrecked our Scunthorpe United and has alienated so many fans who now won’t attend until he is gone. And yet he still hangs on. As Iron-Awe says this abuse was given right in Joe’s face and apparently having gone on throughout the match for no reason.
