Great news. However, I suspect many Party members and supporters will still bang on about Starmer doing everything and anything to gain power.

If only Starmer pursued policies that are unpopular with the public, but popular among ‘true Labour’, to demonstrate his ideological purity. What’s the point of getting yourself elected into power, where you can help the country, when you can sit in opposition basking in your moral righteousness in opposition to Tory policies?

Will be a very popular move IMO, the HOL is a throwback to a time not relevant in a modern democracy. By all means have a second chamber but a much slimline version where members are elected in and out on a fixed term basis. Can’t think why the establishment would complain?, ah yes it would give the people of this country a say in who was elected into powerful positions. How silly I forgot for a moment. The British/English Senate maybe depending how far this power distribution goes?, that would please our cousin’s across the pond.

I think the public have some sympathy to the idea of such but need to be convinced as to how nationalisation could be done economically.

I doubt that, the polls it is popular is according
Iam sure”sir Kier” will hate it but he has his seat in the lords to fall back on if it goes pear shaped

Yes, the polls show the idea is popular. However, when put it on the table they don’t vote for it, and Labour have had a hard time trying to convince the public their policies are economically viable.

Can posters try to spell names correctly instead of repeatedly misspelling them? It’s ‘Keir’, after Keir Hardie, lest we forget. Though I know some on the left think it’s dead funny to call him Keith, or better still, a ‘see you next Tuesday’, as I’ve seen recently. I expect some barbed comment incoming.

He can’t abolish it then go and sit in it later on, I think it’s a very popular idea with a lot of the public, the HOL has had its day, get rid.

If I was to describe Zahawi as a contemptible person for his comments, would that be allowed by the moderator/editor?

Apologies 64, I thought that my description of him as scum had been removed. But it’s on the other thread. No going soft on the Tories from me.

“A New Britain” sounds very Blairite!

There’s an angel standing in the sun
And he’s crying with a loud voice
“This is the supper of the mighty one”
Lord of Lords, King of Kings
Has returned to lead his children home
To take them to the new Jerusalem

The nearer some get to the grim reaper the closer some look at religion. I long ago accepted that we’re here for a short time, and when we’re gone that’s it. ⚰️👍

..the Good News TwoWrights is proclaimed in the Bible ( have you read the most popular book in the world lately?)
Repent and put your trust in Jesus Christ as your saviour is the message.

A message I heard today : “ If you continue down this path it’s to your utter self- destruction. You were made by the one who rose from the dead and you will never experience true life until you submit to His ways.”
Read the Bible and ask yourself the question, “ Who was Jesus Christ?”

Not the first you’ve asked the forum that question bpg. I’d say…evidence this bloke existed, but popularised and mythologised to promote Christianity and sales of the bible. No evidence to prove he was the son of something you can’t prove. Too far fetched for me. Can’t see that changing, and can only see the disbelief increasing in later years. Happier and more at one with the world with that view the older I get. As long as I’ve got a bossom for a pillow, as the song goes, I’m okay with that.

Some Christians try to reason with the unbeliever on a “neutral ground “ situation .
This is ridiculous because the unbeliever is suppressing the truth in unrighteousness and is hostile to God. All I’m doing is giving you the “ Good News”.
God is rich in mercy,He has sent a Saviour and the message of the “God breathed” Bible is the command to repent and put your trust in the only mediator between God and man – Jesus Christ.
