Back on the agenda with Man City looking to include them as part as part of a rescue deal for the football league.
The writing was on the wall when we sold our soul for a few quid to allow them entry to the EFL trophy; They was always testing the waters to see how strong the reaction would be.

October 11, 2020 at 11:57 am #195692Money and greed is the root of all that is wrong with football and it is us the punters that suffer.
It’s taking the p*ss premiership clubs taking furlough, it’s just out and out greed, that’s why they want B teams.October 11, 2020 at 12:12 pm #195694B Teams? No, NO and Thrice NO!
October 11, 2020 at 12:12 pm #195695if B teams came in how would they do it, they would have to add another division to start with.
October 11, 2020 at 1:19 pm #195699I imagine they would create a fifth league sitting between League 2 and the national league or something along those lines.
The greed shows no bounds with even the suggestion that it could be on the table when clubs are at their most vulnerable.
October 11, 2020 at 1:58 pm #195704Greed, maybe.
Unmitigated selfishness – certainly.October 11, 2020 at 2:26 pm #195706Premier League’s major clubs propose shrinking top flight of English football in major shake-up

Amen to that. There was always going to be a high price to pay for any bailout and it looks like that price is going to be huge. For three decades, the Premier League has undermined the lower leagues and helped to put us in the position we are all now in. Combined with the EFL’s inability to properly regulate the game, it’s a recipe for disaster.
if B teams came in how would they do it, they would have to add another division to start with.
I wouldn’t worry about that too much, I reckon there will be plenty of vacancies in the Football League in the coming months for B-teams to fill.
October 12, 2020 at 1:39 pm #195742The Football League were offered 20% of the Sky money in 1995 and they turned it down!!!
This new offer is 25% and an immediate 250 million. The EFL would be daft not to seriously consider this. The problem will be the other Premier League teams who aren’t in the top tier of 9.
October 12, 2020 at 1:46 pm #195745I’d look at the detail Heath, the Premier League big clubs aren’t giving this money away for nothing.
October 12, 2020 at 2:11 pm #195747Have looked at the detail and you are right, the top clubs aren’t giving nothing away. But the offer is better than what the Premier League have proposed so far – nothing!

My fear would be to take the cash in haste and repent at leisure. From what I’ve seen, accepting this deal would just be a case of kicking bigger problems further down the road.
October 15, 2020 at 8:23 pm #195880So the 25% of future TV money and an immediate £250 million offer was rejected because there were too many strings attached. Fair enough, but who at the Premier League thought that £20m and £30m grants was anywhere near an attractive alternative offer.
That’s £30m less than Harry Maguire cost!!!
