As good as I’ve seen it for a long time for the past 3 home games; DRE were in fine voice today.

A feel good factor is back and I hope the club can capitalise on this for the remaining home games and going into next season.

Another healthy home gate of 3,700 home fans too.

The whole feel around the club is on another level from the Swann years, more staff in the bars, more stock in the refreshment kiosks, matchday programmes back, people leaving the ground with smiles on their faces, advertising board spaces full, new colour scoreboard, and all this achieved in a few weeks, all things the Swann lovers told us couldn’t be done at our level.

Just goes to show what can be done when a REAL businessman gets involved.

Only down side for me is that Pat Junior is now making my matchday experience more expensive, but at least my money is going to the club I love.

    What, both of them?

There was a noticeable improvement in service yesterday, particularly at half time in the Iron Bar, so it was a shame to hear that DH is wanting to scrap the marquee to try and get people spending inside. There is no room in the Iron Bar and the concept of the marquee and live music is a big reason more people have started to come down early. I think if you take that away, people will drink elsewhere and Iron Bar takings reduce overnight.
I believe there were some concerns after Barnet that people were bringing their own drinks, but on an average weekend I haven’t seen much evidence of that. It’s been a welcome addition and hopefully with a bit better organisation could also manage with a bigger gate. I think the Barnet gate and late surge in sales probably caught everybody off guard.

The marquee has been a welcome addition to creating a better all round match day atmosphere. As you mention, it encourages people to come down earlier and spend money.

What Hilton needs to be looking at is expanding on this, not taking away. The iron bar isn’t fit for purpose, in an ideal world it would be knocked down and a more adequate replacement built; Fleetwood’s bar is the best example I’ve seen in lower league football.

If not, Can we take away the car parking spaces directly behind the DRE and expand the area where fans can gather, a couple of bottled beer bars and another food outlet would do a roaring trade.

Additionally I thought that the fenced off area near Debenhams was proposed as fans zone ?

It was a lot more than that in the early days, it took a long time for a lot of fans to see Swann for what he was.
