Hill isn’t the problem in the same way that Cox and the countless others who came and went before him weren’t the problem.
Hill’s overall record stands very close inspection as do the records of people like Alexander and Robins before him.
They don’t suddenly turn into bad managers overnight.
The real problem is we aren’t in need of a competent lower league manager.
For the last 4 seasons it’s been a case of ‘only fully certified miracle workers need apply’.
The real problem?
The one man who has had a controlling influence in every disaster that has befallen us on and off the field over the last 4 years?
Well we surely all know the answer to that one.
Mr Chairman – take a bow.

March 13, 2022 at 1:07 pm #233468I can see your point APB and no doubt a huge portion of blame lies at the chairman’s doorstep. I was pleased with the appointment of Hill, figured it would give us a better chance of surviving. I ignored the warnings on his limitations from other fans of clubs he’s managed but now can see what they were saying. Spouts same old rubbish after defeat, a team with little identity and fluidity, and some very questionable signings to say the least. We are no better off under Hill than we were Cox. A terrible side going one way, possibly even out of existence at some (hopefully) very distant point.

March 13, 2022 at 2:58 pm #233480I don’t think he can really be blamed for the lack of quality of the signings in January – disappointing in the most part that they have been.
You end up signing what you can afford and that dictates the quality.
It was evident we were struggling by the last minute nature of the deals – we were literally scavenging for scraps that no one else wanted.
Both Cox and Hill have done the equivalent of trying to buy a serviceable car for £100.
You might pick a Ford or you might pick a Fiat but either way you’re going to end up with a crappy old banger.

March 13, 2022 at 5:00 pm #233492Most managers spout the same old rubbish cliches after a while because there are only a certain amount of things you can say to make the same point. Difference is that with a winning manager you add up all the cliches and turn them into something to laugh about, wheras with a manager struggling because of poor players and regular defeats as a result of that, you add them all up and use them as a stick to beat him with. Hill is a good manager struggling with poor players and injuries to boot, if some of you want to beat him over the head with his cliched phrases then that’s your choice but I believe it’s unnecessary.

March 14, 2022 at 11:56 am #233529Scunthorpe went from being adequately funded by the Chairman to a full stop overnight. Throw into the mix a crippling loan which was apparently needed to survive then you don’t need to look any further. If any other business had this to contend with then it would also end up part time (ironically a hobby rather than a genuine business). KH has not improved us but he had dreggs to pick from and dreggs already in the club.
Never need to look any further than Swann – the useless chairman and Swann the equally useless head of recruitment who, in any other walk of life would not be anywhere near that job or if had the amazing fortune to convince a business to take him on would’ve been made redundant for performance issues.

March 14, 2022 at 7:25 pm #233547Ever since the stadium deal fell through, he has lost interest. He don’t care anymore! Also imagine our little big man boasting to his mates, ‘hey, I own my own football club.’ They do a quick search, find this place, and say. ‘Oi Peter, all of Scunthorpe fans think your an utter bell end.’
Perhaps he is fuc£ing up The Iron to teach us all a lesson?
Bar steward!
March 14, 2022 at 9:22 pm #233549Or he’s just not very good at running a football club?

Carbon copy of what happened at Gainsborough, only difference is he couldn’t take their stadium like he has ours!
