First of all, a simple yes or no.
And then, in one sentence, why that’s the case.

I’ve not been convinced by the style of play ,even the wins seems laboured
September 30, 2024 at 3:34 pm #291374” I’m just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round”, John Lennon knew the score.

You’re saying they were never on in the first place, then?
September 30, 2024 at 4:26 pm #291376Yes, September’s results show it impending pit stop changing soft to hard I hope.

Yeah,I never got too excited,

Can’t score
Can’t pass
Can’t create enough chances
Can’t defend
Can’t select a ‘to win’ strategy
Can’t select a winning formation
Can’t be arsed1 user thanked author for this post.
September 30, 2024 at 7:22 pm #291379No, there are things that can be fixed, for now it’s a blip however they need to start putting in performances again otherwise the crowds will drop

September 30, 2024 at 7:42 pm #291380No. Adjustments need to be made but overall a good start.

Can’t be arsedYet rather strangely despite all those things you point out Rene, still managed to get to the top of the league, how bizarre, must be a first in the history of football.
September 30, 2024 at 8:52 pm #291383Rene you cheated, that was not one sentence!
Yes – Butlerball makes me wants to gouge my eyes out with a rusty fork.
Though agree with 64, only one convincing win and a fair amount of luck, the wheels were never really on!
September 30, 2024 at 9:26 pm #291384And can’t show they are full time and not part time, especially late on in games even against 10 men.

As per MM above.
Should be doing better as a full time club, still early days but the optimism has evaporated3 users thanked author for this post.
October 1, 2024 at 6:01 am #291388Let’s hope it was just the curse of winning manager of the month, like I said needs manager of the month in October to get the wheels back on track.

October 1, 2024 at 8:50 am #291389October 1, 2024 at 9:02 am #291390After 9 league games could not say. Another 5/6 will show if formation tweaks coupled with round pegs in square holes continues then future not good. Need to settle on a formation that players are comfortable with and stick with it.
I do think targeting is back and that is a bad sign.
October 1, 2024 at 9:28 am #291391Yes. Lack of first half urgency, passing accuracy, creativity.
October 1, 2024 at 1:47 pm #291397Yes. Lack of first half urgency, passing accuracy, creativity.
The passing ability over the last few seasons has been average at best. Seems this basic is not important. For me it shows a laziness and poor attitude.
October 1, 2024 at 3:53 pm #291399Guess Gateshead can see what Butterfield can offer probably more of the reason Butler didn’t want him at the club, another month like September and Butler would certainly have been looking over his shoulder if Butterfield was still here. (And not that I blame Butler you’ve got to lookout for yourself first and foremost in football)

October 1, 2024 at 5:32 pm #291403They’re doing well. Wonder how much that’s down to the supposed non-league Figo? Scored one in ten matches.
October 1, 2024 at 6:21 pm #291406Following a quick twitter search I think AWG is alluding to the appointment of Butterfield onto an interim management team following the departure of Gatesheads coaching staff to MK Dons.
Must be doing something right up there as reading their fans comments they seem to like him.
You might be onto something there AWG as certainly makes more sense than us not being able to financially compete with Gateshead.

October 1, 2024 at 7:19 pm #291411Do you think you’ll ever get over Butterfield leaving or is it terminal, like Barrie Thomas getting sold to the Toon?
October 1, 2024 at 8:13 pm #291419Still wonder if all them who stopped going while Swanny was still in charge have come back.
October 1, 2024 at 8:13 pm #291420I’m not that bloody old Deerey. Might not be terminal if we could bring in someone even half as good as him but it’s pretty head scratching at the moment we wouldn’t have combined the wages of Brogan and Rowley, both who can’t get in the team, to keep our best player. Must be more to it as AWG suggested above.
October 1, 2024 at 8:29 pm #291421Lol, best comparison I could think of. Think we need a midfielder to break up opposition play for 9Omins rather than a twinkle toes who plays for 60-70mins with the odd flash of brilliance. And the players to start passing well again. Can’t blame Butler for that. There’s a reason they’re in this league: very inconsistent.
October 2, 2024 at 8:54 am #291435Butterfield, I am informed, is still not able to complete games and is in decline.
In 10 appearances for Gateshead, he has scored one goal and had zero assists.
(Didn’t they ship SEVEN the other day, BTW?)
Butterfield would add no height nor weight to our CM. Players who are slight in stature are not what we need in the current setup.
Ah. Remember those happy days of the past when – on occasions – we actually won a few headers in CM?1 user thanked author for this post.
October 2, 2024 at 9:10 am #291436You’re right Les, let’s stick Evan’s back in the midfield to win some headers. Worked great last time.
October 2, 2024 at 9:22 am #291438Thanks for pointing out to 414 some actual facts about Butterfield this season les, his response was to be expected.
