This is for Matt really or anybody else who knows people who are connected to the club in some way.
You heard anything about anybody else coming in ?
October 19, 2020 at 7:11 pm #196168I’ve just heard Cox’s latest interview in which he said that we are looking at signing 2 more experienced players. Ideally we needed 3 but 2’s better than nothing.
I hope to god one of those is a GK.
Gk and CM player ?
October 19, 2020 at 7:25 pm #1961693 for certain agree with the 4. A GK and CM vital.
The only last minute who could sign 2moro would be a keeper. Much easier to settle in. There are several experienced about.
October 19, 2020 at 7:48 pm #196173Ben Alnick would do for me between the sticks. I looked at all the CM’s free in our kind of bracket and Wordsworth looked the pick of them.
Ideally we need a RB as well but with Clarke nearing fitness, I don’t think we’ll bring one in now.
October 19, 2020 at 7:55 pm #196176October 19, 2020 at 8:04 pm #196177Experienced GK Andy Lonergan is available. Only 37…
October 19, 2020 at 8:08 pm #196178Just wet myself laughing!
I also think it’s ludicrous waiting for a player who’s held together with cellotape but there you go. I didn’t sign him and make him captain, did I ?
Ideally we need a RB as well but a GK and CM would go a long way to helping us out. McGahey is due back in a weeks time and I’ll be crossing everything in the hope Clarke not only get’s fit but stays fit for a good while !
October 20, 2020 at 10:21 am #196199Is Josh Vickers still a free agent? Can’t see he’s signed anywhere. Goalkeeper who left Lincoln last season was number one for a few seasons
October 20, 2020 at 11:07 am #196203Good shout LI still young, and a big unit,my Imp fan mate rates him
October 20, 2020 at 11:27 am #196205Yeah a lot of Lincoln fans were sad to see him go, I think he was released like we released our out of contract players to trim the wage bill due to the uncertainty of lockdown and the season ending. So money might be an issue and he had a few injuries (one of them was when Gilks went there) but if he came on a short term pay as you play deal it could work. Apparently he’s be training with Rotherham but nothing seems to have come of that
October 26, 2020 at 10:53 am #196632SST, has your mole reared it’s head of late…you heard any whispers regarding anybody else coming in ?
I think Cox said we were looking to sign a few more.
October 26, 2020 at 11:07 am #196634New keeper anyone?
October 26, 2020 at 11:44 am #196637Naughty!!
If we were waiting for an answer on Friday and the player/agent still hasn’t decided then I’d make up their mind for them.
Has Saturdays performance changed our thinking about what we need?October 26, 2020 at 1:21 pm #196643A bit naughty perhaps, after all I find keepers do need a few games to show their best form but equally I can’t think of many keepers who’ve had a worse debut for the Iron.

He hasn’t played since January, so is bound to be a bit rusty. It’s too early to make a judgement. What’s Rory’s excuse for making such calamities when playing consistently?
The fact that we’ve had to bring in a goalkeeper who hasn’t played in months is a damning indictment of our transfer policy.
October 26, 2020 at 2:05 pm #196648Yep Humberside reckoned the new keeper prevented another five goal or worse mauling and despite the error looked a good player. All players make errors, did anyone see the Codheads keeper make a complete howler on Saturday? and he’s been with them a long long time. Mind you it was funny to watch, any Codhead blunder is funny to watch.

Chris Marples?

Sounds like a description of much of Watson’s Iron career.

Agreed 100%.
Chris Marples is before my time Cass, what’s the story?
October 26, 2020 at 3:25 pm #196654Sent off before HT if memory serves and never played for us again. Mistertonmick will remember better than me.
October 26, 2020 at 4:22 pm #196656Ha, brilliant.
Mirfin was sent off in the first 10-15 minutes of his debut but he did a bit better after that!

Nigel Batch?!
October 26, 2020 at 7:46 pm #196667I think Marples was sent off after an hour of his debut CT. V Burnley (?) and it was probably Dave Hill who took over between the sticks for the rest of game but MM may correct me.
October 26, 2020 at 9:10 pm #196670Stuart is right I think with the details, certainly against Burnley on a lunch time kick off, I thought if Marple deserved to go their player should have gone as well, he used to be a good keeper for York City.
He also played cricket for Derbyshire as a wicketkeeper playing a number of County Championship games.October 26, 2020 at 9:42 pm #196671I seem to think it was an 11am KO which also had on a couple of occasions that season. Marples always seemed to play well against us when at York so I thought he’d be a good signing….didn’t pan out that way.
