Supposed to be targeting him, defensive midfielder with a wealth of experience from Swindon. I’ve been impressed with him in the past but not sure what he’s like now.
Also got an experienced CB lined up to replace Davis who’s going out. I don’t know whether those two are the two SST was talking about yesterday when he said we had 2 more lined up to come in later this week.
An able bodied experienced CB, Grant, Feeney with Nuttall upfront would strengthen the spine no end. Still think we need another striker though, Calvin Andrew would add even more experience as an old war horse battering ram.
This is on Grant

The comments from fans are interesting to say the least.

January 26, 2022 at 8:42 pm #230604Will probably just appear in starting line up on Saturday.
January 26, 2022 at 9:37 pm #230607As Nutall watched us play at the weekend you can pretty much guarantee he got in his car and just kept driving

I think we’ll have to suck it and see!

January 27, 2022 at 8:51 am #230618I for one am convinced that signing ageing players who’ve hardly played this season will definitely improve us and that injuries won’t be a recurring problem for the rest of the season.

January 27, 2022 at 9:02 am #230621It’s either 20 year olds or 35 year olds Ferrite!
No decent player in his mid twenties is going to come here for peanuts!
January 27, 2022 at 9:05 am #230622I know NI, I just don’t understand why people are getting their hopes up!4

January 27, 2022 at 9:16 am #230623Hopefully the hope won’t kill us.

January 27, 2022 at 9:42 am #230625That’s all we can do, hope, I remember when we were struggling to stay in the championship, I think it was the first time, we did panic recruitment in Jan and it was a disaster. In my opinion the Jan window is too late, doesn’t work and is expensive.

January 27, 2022 at 9:50 am #230626The benefit (hopefully there is one) this time is that the players coming in all appear to have a previous connection to Hill, so he knows what he’s getting. In the recent past it would appear the manager was given a series of surprise packages to play with.

January 27, 2022 at 9:55 am #230627It could make the difference. There may also be the argument that these players wouldn’t have come if it hadn’t been for Hill being here?
January 27, 2022 at 10:01 am #230629As above
January 27, 2022 at 10:57 am #230631Grant controlled the game when they came here in August, big and nasty, just what we need. I remember hating him at the time, didn’t he knock Wilson flying as a welcome to league football?
January 27, 2022 at 12:08 pm #230634I really hope Grant does sign, he’s exactly the type of midfielder we’ve been lacking for years. Absolutely bossed the middle of the park against us for Swindon first game of the season, made the rest of our midfield look like they were playing on quicksand!
January 27, 2022 at 12:10 pm #230635Used to really rate Grant when he was at Southend. If he’s still half that good he’s better than we’ve got.
If we’re sticking with the diamond him at the base Feeney and Hippo/Beestin when fit and Sinclair at the point and we’ve got a midfield. If we get a competent CB and Nuttal can score then I might almost start to hope.
But it all still feels too late.
January 27, 2022 at 12:25 pm #230638Showed again that our Cb’s cannot do the job of a CB !!
So we need someone who knows how to make a defence defend. 1 up top and the 1 at the back will make a huge difference.

Sounds promising but why are Swindon happy to let him go?
January 27, 2022 at 1:36 pm #230643Read the link I provided in the threads opening post. The fans aren’t that chuffed it would seem, more seem to dislike their manager.
January 28, 2022 at 1:51 pm #230683Quite a few sources on twitter all sayin grant has agreed to sign but surely this can only be done if swindon agree to terminate his contract if its a permanent deal – not sure but think thats the embargo rules.
January 28, 2022 at 2:04 pm #230684we certainly can’t sign him permanent without Swindon releasing him, don’t think that will be a problem, same them a wage for someone else.
January 28, 2022 at 2:52 pm #230685Now a free agent…

January 28, 2022 at 3:26 pm #230687According to reports Grant is on his way here. I suspect they will sign either right before or just after tomorrow’s game.

January 28, 2022 at 3:41 pm #230688Needs to sign today and play tomorrow.
January 28, 2022 at 3:55 pm #230691I know that but we’ve got another 2 or 3 besides him that are being held up somewhat by Kenyon not pissing off, we’re still waiting for him to go out the door.
January 28, 2022 at 4:06 pm #230693someone on Twitter says there is a lad from Birmingham coming in, a 19 year old called Nico Gordon played 4 times in the Championship, can play defense or midfield, don’t know if it is true.
January 28, 2022 at 4:11 pm #230694If it comes off I will be really happy! He ran midfield during the first game of the season it would be a very good signing, just hope we can get these players in and survive.
Also I think we should give the club and the manager (don’t think Cox could have tempted these players here) a big thumbs up as we have all said this side needs experienced players and it appears to be happening
January 28, 2022 at 4:24 pm #230696If it were July I may be tempted to give a thumbs up, but seeing as how it’s late January it’ll more likely be two fingers!
