Absolutely distraught! He made 60 year old men cool. Saw Faithless at Lytham Festival a few years back. Magnificent!
RIP Maxi. This is MY church….

This always reminds me of ‘Shout to the Top’ by Style Council. Vini is still alive, as far as I know. That’s something…

You must like the version of “Hallo In There” live from West 54th fans?, that’s worth putting up on here if you fancy it.

I’d just been listening to it on a big black disk when you posted this.
No other singer paints a picture like John Prine.

tghis one tickles me because I saw it not long after seeing a video of some right wing BNP types haranguing Billy in Barking for being ” A failed musician” and congratulating each other as if they’d been so clever. here is the failed musician with two of the very best out there.
    here’s john too

Thanks for posting 64, love that live version from John, Dave Jacques and Jason Wilber really helped make John’s sound so brilliant live with their guitar and bass playing. 👍

Great that this popped up on The English on iplayer earlier. Takes me back. Not to the wild west but the late 90s, and a flourishing romance. Aye…

Ah, The Smiths! Definitely a time & place band.

How Johnny Marr go this riff together I’ve no idea…….

Good stuff NI, when Jeff played there was always a silver lining. Sad day, one of the all time greats and probably the best ever, although there are always other contenders. RIP Jeff, thanks for the music.

Always thought Beck was better than Clapton.

Though I know that sounds like heresy to some!

Both brilliant technically but Jeff was more innovative IMO, loved the way in later years how he just used the fingers on his right hand as opposed to using a pick, deffo gives you more feel and as Knopfler has shown it’s a remarkable technique for an electric player, opens the range of the instrument up more. The term genius is overused somewhat but in Jeff’s case I think it’s appropriate when it comes to guitar playing.
