Bowen did OK. Shame the others thought turning up would be enough to beat a mid table Championship level team.

June 5, 2022 at 11:00 am #238302On Platy Joobs weekend it rather let’s Her Majesty down with Northern Ireland, Scotland and England all losing.
Left to the Welsh to do her proud this afternoon. But if they beat Ukraine they’ll be the pariahs of world football!
Ah well, there’s always the cricket!
June 5, 2022 at 11:01 am #238303Turned off after 50 mins, turned back on to get the after match reaction covered by 3 women (being polite) and Michael Owen, let’s get a bit more balance back in, fair enough a women asking the questions but at least have men answering, in women’s sport they get it better, the 6 Nations rugby they had 5 women and Brian Moore passing comment during the game. What do others Honestly think?
June 5, 2022 at 11:34 am #238305June 5, 2022 at 11:39 am #238307I mute the sound when the so called experts are pontificating anyway.
That self-righteous sh*t Shearer and the laughing policeman Micah Richards are worse than anyone else.
Just show the game with a commentator and summariser. Interview the manager and/or players post match and leave it at that!
It would save tv companies £££££s!

June 5, 2022 at 11:45 am #238308You could at least answer the question Deerey, at least your on bru unlike Mr Swann to answer.
June 5, 2022 at 11:47 am #238309Didn’t watch the game or punditry after as I’ve little interest in the competition. However I can say I’m not gender biased when it comes to punditry.
June 5, 2022 at 11:55 am #238311Age or gender is irrelevant if the punditry is banal, which it always is.
Masters of stating the bleeding obvious the lot of ’em.
Get rid!

June 5, 2022 at 12:07 pm #238312They got southgate down pitch side pre match and there first question they spent a few minutes discussing was his passed attire, even southgate looked confused and bemused
June 5, 2022 at 12:59 pm #238313Spot on Pele. It’s things like that i am on about, remember last world cup and the 2 women commentators couldn’t understand why an ex England player wasn’t exited like they were about the 3rd 4th place playoff game. Right about the cricket NI.
June 5, 2022 at 1:18 pm #238314Aye, summat to cheer at least.

Mrs Two doesn’t like women commentating on football, she says their voices are too shrill, I agree. 🙂
June 5, 2022 at 4:15 pm #238316To my knowledge dont think I have ever heard a woman do the match commentary, either football, rugby, or cricket, Mrs Two nailed it.
June 5, 2022 at 4:22 pm #238317Jacqui Oatley is excellent. (And much more easy on the eye than Martin Tyler and Gary Neville)

June 5, 2022 at 5:03 pm #238319Reminds me when my sons where boys when travelling to games we used to come up with a team of the ugliest 11 currently playing. Neville brothers often featured but never nailed on starters like Dowie and Beardsley were.
June 5, 2022 at 5:09 pm #238320Danny Murphy’s the only pundit who doesn’t seem to tell you what you already know.
June 5, 2022 at 5:15 pm #238321‘But if they beat Ukraine they’ll be the pariahs of world football!’
Not so sure about that NI. I think the international football community will respect Ukraine’s opponents right to play their strongest game and win, should they win.

June 5, 2022 at 6:10 pm #238330DM you know why NI framed the question the way he did, others on another thread have been discussing the same reasoning regarding another poster.

Danny ‘Hull are safe as houses’ Murphy, they were relegated! 🤭
June 5, 2022 at 6:36 pm #238335Wasn’t aware of that. Nobody’s perfect! In general I find his insights interesting.

Danny Murphy is quite possibly the dullest though, and thinks he knows it all. :-)
June 5, 2022 at 9:39 pm #238345There’s a few of them on here too Siderite.
June 5, 2022 at 11:40 pm #238352We have been watching rubbish at international level since Fabio Capello.
The crap and negative style of play encouraged by the FA now runs through all its teams and is taught to those taking FA coaching badges.
Hence our shit managers of recent years, and why the top teams in the premiership are managed by foreign coaches who have not been coached the FA way and whose teams not only play bloody good football but also win things.
Let’s face it Southgate was both out-thought and out-fought by Mancini, and when we could all see what was happening Southgate proved again to be tactically inept.
But in FA terms he is a safe pair of hands. Sadly he has the best squad of players available for many years and hoodles of talent to choose from.
Qatar will be another flag waving disaster when the football hopes of a nation will again not be enough to win a competition.

June 6, 2022 at 9:58 am #238364World Cup semi-finalists. Euros finalists.
The FA aren’t going to replace him with those credentials.
Not getting out of the group stages in Qatar may change their minds, but who would they bring in to replace him?
Another “exciting” young English manager? Eddie Howe? Graham Potter? I doubt if they’d go down the foreigner route again.

June 6, 2022 at 10:41 am #238369Reckon they’ll try and lure Gerrard or Lampard in a few years. Awaywego would be rooting for the former.
June 6, 2022 at 4:25 pm #238386World Cup semi-finalists. Euros finalists.
It looks alright on paper but we should have 100% beaten Croatia and made it to the World Cup final. And that Euro final was a travesty…we went 1-0 up then immediately sat back and failed to have another single shot on target for the rest of the game including extra time. 39% possession playing boring football with a boring manager!
