March 21, 2023 at 1:11 pm #257702Well it’s certainly not boring following the iron at the moment.

March 21, 2023 at 1:17 pm #257703Looks like Dean’s not keen on Whitehouse as a back up player option. Rance will be Bunker’s replacement. Thompson maybe will be a direct replacement for Butterfield to add competition there ?
March 21, 2023 at 1:33 pm #257705We don’t really need competition for our player of the season with 9 games to go. Strange to bring in 2 midfielders but if it pays off then I’ll doth the cap.
March 21, 2023 at 2:20 pm #257708Did we really need another midfielder at this stage of the season? Let alone 2? I would have gone with what we have.
March 21, 2023 at 2:40 pm #257709Some rate Whitehouse but do mention his lack of pace to get back, if Rance can do that job then it does strengthen options.
Then we have a 2023/24 option on him so looks like he is up to the challenge.

March 21, 2023 at 5:09 pm #257715Manager must believe that they are better than what we have.
Whatever Tom and Fin do in the future – these guys (presumably) have the experience NOW!1 user thanked author for this post.

Rance is described as a tough tackling, hardworking, defensive midfielder. So you can only assume he’s here as a direct competition to both Pugh and Shrimpton because if anything would have happened to either of those without him coming in, we would have been in deep poo poo.
Whitehouse is solid enough but lacks pace and mobility to play that role. Thompson from what I’ve read is more a creative, passing player so I assume he’s been brought in to add competition to Butterfield’s attacking midfielder role.
Buetterfield is fantastic at this level but what would happen if anything was to happen to him and we hadn’t had brought Thompson in, would would have played there, Feeney ?. I wouldn’t move Wilson either because he’s on top form at the minute.
I think we needed both in.
March 21, 2023 at 8:34 pm #257721Maybe looking at a switch to 4-1-3-2 or a 4-4-2 to play a more attacking style?
March 21, 2023 at 10:03 pm #257729As a d&g player makes you wonder what he can bring to the team ,if he can’t get in their team what sort of quality he

I said the same regarding Richards Everton not getting a look in at Yeovil at look how he’s turned out. You can’t always go by that logic.
March 23, 2023 at 3:27 pm #257816Whitehouse gone on loan to Chester till the end of the season, that explains a lot, won’t be here next season, bye Elliott.
March 23, 2023 at 3:39 pm #257822Looks a certainty. Hilton has said Chapman and Elliott are contracted for next season and the rest are playing for contracts. If they’re not playing here now then the chance of a contract for next season isn’t likely. Youngsters excepted of course. Looks like the end for Rowe, Taft, O’Malley and Hallam as well as Whitehouse. Daniel and Carver also at risk I’d say
March 23, 2023 at 4:02 pm #257826Jai Rowe just left by mutual consent
March 23, 2023 at 4:45 pm #257827Rowe going to Aldershot
March 23, 2023 at 4:50 pm #257828My Chester mate has just messaged me with the exciting news about Whitehouse!
Off to Blyth Spartans v Chester on Saturday so May see his debut.
Second manager that didn’t fancy him. Interesting stuff.
March 23, 2023 at 9:40 pm #257843Thing is with Dean is that he favours the formation we’re playing now and to play in the central midfield roles you have to be mobile, athletic to cover all the ground you’re going to need to cover and Whitehouse would have never fitted the bill.
Shrimpton, Pugh definitely you could put in that bracket. Rance is said to fit in that kind of mould and Thompson on loan is supposed to be an energetic workhorse so not so sure Whitehouse would have got a look in any way.
I like Whitehouse but he wouldn’t have really suited this formation.
