feeling so much better that we will be playing our home games elsewhere thank you mr david
May 31, 2023 at 9:15 pm #263434Meanwhile, The money that has been invested into the club thus far is non refutable. We simply would not be here without it and some gratitude should be shown to the chairman for that.
In Peter Swann’s last podcast (last year) with Iron Bru, he referred to a £1M annual shortfall, was that correct? Based on Hilton’s figures, he’s claiming that he expects to have put a total of £2.5M in in the space of 6 months. One doesn’t reconcile with the other.
May 31, 2023 at 9:20 pm #263436The previous owner and the truth were virtually strangers IB.
There was also (allegedly) best part of £1m of debt to clear before starting on running costs.

Where would we be playing them without Mr David’s intervention?

March 2023: I’ve bought the club and ground
May 2023: We are groundsharing down the road
Didn’t someone once say something about lowering expectations?1 user thanked author for this post.

most people will stop reading when you open up with a quote from Swann.
May 31, 2023 at 9:40 pm #263440Yep. His comments about the ground were false, so what else might be? For the last few weeks we have been assured that we can rent Glanford Park based on his word, with any doubt dismissed as rumours. Now we find out that isn’t necessarily the case.
May 31, 2023 at 9:44 pm #263441I guess it all could be false how happy would you be just saying

The accounts for year end 06/21 reconcile with what Swann said in March 22. We await the latest accounts!

If our club failing would make me happy I would be cheering this all on, not complaining about it.

You’re not even a Scunthorpe United fan. What the hell are you doing on here in the first place ?

Sounds like someone’s told him about the Hospitality at the Northolme.. decent ground and bar but not the type he’s used to be “invited” into
May 31, 2023 at 10:22 pm #263448The accounts from past seasons hold no bearing on the clubs current financial state. We were out spending most of league one a few years ago.
Are you suggesting the figures are false from Hilton?

He makes reference to the club’s current liabilities but makes absolutely no reference to the club’s current assets. It reads like he’s personally paying every liability and that there is no money coming into the club which is clearly not the case.
May 31, 2023 at 11:37 pm #263455Our income from January would barely cover half of the expenditure. That’s including season ticket for next year and the 1899 memberships and not taking into account VAT.
If we take your word and imply he is using this additional income to meet the costs, it’s still hundreds of thousands- probably over a million- of external investment being used to keep the club afloat.

I think this is a very good point. I’d like to give him the benefit of the doubt but his checkered past added to what he’s said in his tenure so far and what has actually happened, in some cases, isn’t filling me with confidence. I’m quite amazed that claims ‘we’re definitely playing at GP next season but we might not be’, and a new 12.5k stadium will be built in 2 years on toxic wasteland are met with such a positive reaction. It seems like a weekly lowering of expectations. The majority of supporters despise Swann so much, çritical analysis has been parked.

Everything the same as per the fans forum and the club statement that followed with the following additions
1) A plan b – that is an agreement with a local non league club to play there if Hilton’s GP lease idea fails, this has apparently been approved by the league.
2) Someone has produced a stadium design on a Sinclair zx81 and superimposed it on the new stadium site outline.June 1, 2023 at 9:27 am #263470Bit harsh. I’d say a Commodore 64.

No it’s definitely an Amiga 500, possibly with the half meg upgrade.
June 1, 2023 at 10:44 am #263474Chesterfield decontaminated their land and built their stadium within 17 months.
Not saying ours will get built but it shows it’s perfectly possibly if things go smoothly.
June 1, 2023 at 10:48 am #263478That is 18 months of actual groundwork and construction. The site was identified in 2004, an agreement was identified in 2005, while it took three further years for planning permission to be granted. We’re in the sort of stages Chesterfield were in 6 years before they played their first game at their new ground.

June 1, 2023 at 10:53 am #263482Blimey. That’s a hell of a lot time and a lot of money. Wonder what the total costs will be for all this? I’m assuming there’s some top line figures somewhere, even sketchy ones. Wonder if Barra can ask Mr H?
June 1, 2023 at 10:59 am #263483Trying not be cynical but the new stadium stuff all seems a little ‘on the hoof’ and reactionary. I mean if I was bidding for funds to help support this venture, I think the potential funder would expect a lot more detail and a strong case for support. Perhaps it’s coming but it certainly takes a lot of time and can’t be done over a few weeks.
June 1, 2023 at 11:01 am #263484Some cods are saying top side of 30 million, well they do say eating fish is good brain food.
June 1, 2023 at 11:03 am #263485Wouldn’t it be easier to just pay Swann what he agreed to pay him when they made a deal and use half that £30m on stadium improvements?

June 1, 2023 at 12:01 pm #26349130 million is based on a cods interpretation, not an actual fact.
